I have 2011 Rouge simply the worst new car I ever own.Hate the CVT it's loud espessialy in the cold temperatures plus give you annoying vibration on the steering wheel driving on the low speeds 25-30 mph(1200 Rpm)-Nissan says it's normal.Thank God it's a lease
@gusherb94 Hi! you right CVT don't make noise, but the CVT (since there is no regular gears) causes engine run on high RPM (espessialy while engine is cold and you try to pick up speed) and that is extremely loud.(it takes 10-15 min for engine to calm down). The more annoying thing is the vibration I mentioned (you can google it and find that many other drivers complain about it too)
@RAFCIO1able I know what you mean with the high RPM thing. Though after it's warmed up it keeps the RPM's much lower then a regular automatic I4 would. 2500 RPM is about what I always do in that car while accelerating, it does move along pretty fast for a 2.5 I4 AWD vehicle. I also know what you mean about the steering vibration. It's not the smoothest running engine.
Yeah the cvts seem to be alittle shaky in this car.. I had 2 trannys replaced; took it in to the dealership many times and they made up excuses every time. Apparently, the "noise" was coming from the brakes, so they decided to "grind" down the brakes which cost me over $500.. Inevitably, they finally said the noise was coming from the tranny and replaced it the first time. Then, within the first few weeks, the noise came back and it needed another tranny. Thank god for the warranty.
very nice car once again lol i had an 07 nissan sentra fully loaded b4 i got my milan. i love that car and the key is amazing!!! i miss that wish my milan had that
so your reving an automatic car, in park, then try to use the paddle shifter. . . and turn the ac on and then roll down the sunroof. P.S Take it easy on the cvt, i hated it on the 08 altima . . .
I'm not sure what your getting at but I was simply playing with the car... Yes I've heard about the various issues that can come up with CVT. And yes ME personally I hate the CVT, it has it's ups and downs but for the most part it would the THE deal breaker if this were gonne be my own car.
this video is so stupid why would u put a video of this gay car and why would u say its ur fathers?? if your goona make a video put a hell of a car not a little prick nissain like a corvette or something and plus if u are going to make a video clean up a car
I totally agree with you about CVT being very boring , It's really fun when the conditions are right to drive this car in Manual mode and actually hear the engine rev! If I were buying a car for myself I wouldn't buy anything with a CVT cuz it's so boring and lifeless.
@gusherb94 the gearing in manual mode is better sounding from 2nd gear on up than any other automatic transmission i have ever driven. it sound really sporty with close spacing between the revs
the pick up is pretty good. it is only a 4 cylinder with 170hp but its a pretty light car so its got some kick. the shifting is very smooth. dont even know its shifting. thats the whole cvt stuff. and it really wants to cruise at 80mph for me on the highway.
Surprisingly the CVT also shifts between two gears while doing normal driving, you'll notice when your cruising at 30 MPH and then you punch it and the car quickly downshifts into high RPM's. Or when you are cruising away from a stop, after you get to speed you'll notice a sudden drop in RPM.
I hear the Rogue's made in USA were the problematic ones with the tranny issues and the ones made in Japan were just fine...If that's the case my dad's should be fine since it's made in Japan. Other than that I'm kinda hoping he sells it for something else sometime soon, I still love the car but I am worried about long term reliability now since all the recalls and stuff.
@sleeksilver maybe he should have used his warranty that nissan extended... they recently sent me a letter saying it went from the regular warranty to a 10 year, 200,000km transmission warranty.. they put their confidence forward.
It is! It's got a super off the line under moderate acceleration pickup too! Getting from 0-35 is very fast and effortless with this car, it barely revs up at all and yet you get that strong pulling feeling like a V6. In other words I can very effortlessly beat most people off the line without having to do more than 1/2 throttle, pretty smooth sound for a 4cylinder as well.
The Rogue is an excellent car to drive it maneuvers really well and handles great for an SUV and it's not too slow either. takes turn pretty sharply if needed, easy to drive.
few things to consider about the rogue. there used to be a lot of problems with the CVT transmission, but i recently bough a 09 model, and it's not too bad. another downside is the airbags. the passenger airbag light comes on sometimes when the passenger is not sitting properly on their seat. and they should have made a bigger back window. sometimes it gets annoying. but AWD tech they have in the car is smart. but the AWD LOCK SUCKS!
Are Rogue doesn't have any tranny problems, and we've never had the airbag light come on ever, with a passenger sitting there, but that maybe cuz everyone that's sat in that seat is over 160#. The lack of rear view is pretty annoying. I wouldn't know anything about the AWD lock since we have never used that function, but yeah having the AWD in winter conditions is AWESOME!
actually they did a recall on some '08 rogues cause there was a problem with the CVT transmission. plus a lot of ppl were having problems with that light because the sensors on the seat werent too great. and AWD lock is for when you get seriously stuck and you need power in all four wheels.. but you can only go up to 25Km/h with it on b4 it disengages. havent been able to drive it during the winter yet, but canadian winters are a bitch. also i heard import models r better than american ones.
yeah. they have two types of rogues.. they look identical but the vin numbers are different. They make rogues in Japan and in the US. the ones that are made in Japan are better than the ones from the US and have less problems. If your vin number starts with J then you know it's from japan.
some rattled dangerously (even dealerships agreed it was unsafe) so what they did was replace CVT transmissions. thats why it isn't a good idea to buy a new car on it's first years.. but for the most part, i think they fixed all the problems related to CVT and rattling, and they started to place them in multiple models of cars in their lineup. even altima, sentra, and the cube. but i agree, nissan rogue is a pretty good car for the price.
I checked the Vin It start's with J, I guess were lucky... knock on wood. The only issue it's ever had (once again knock on wood) was the pressure sensor for the A/C, that was defective right away but didnt break completely til the spring. That was fixed within the day under warranty.
Any idea how the Rogue is in deep or moderate snow? My mom's getting a new car next summer and sometimes we have a lot of snow up in Vermont...and her 2002 Taurus with traction control will do a foot of snow...but she wants a smaller vehicle that's easier to park/maneuver
Since it has AWD it does amazing! in winter snowy/icy conditions, even when the Milan is sliding all over the road the Rogue is handling it like a champ! If you're looking for a car that goes great in winter weather the Rogue is it! since it also has heated mirrors and seats plus it does a great sub-zero start.
After renting one at SFO I want one! I really liked it. It's leaps and bounds better than my 01 Tribute. I am waiting for the price of em to drop a little before I consider buying one.
I do too, the fully loaded model is really luxurious with the all-black interior with leather seating and the countless amount of convenience features, including a Sunroof! which I love!
It is a great car, so far zero mechanical or miscellaneous troubles, sadly in just a couple years this car's gonna look like a piece of shit cuz my dad plays bumper cars with it ALL THE TIME.
