As a former New Yorker I thought I knew all the local news anchors,but I don't remember Edye Tarbox.

@East180thStreetYard She wasn't around for that long. She came in when WABC retooled the morning news and I think she was gone two years later along with her coanchor here. Because within that time they had Harry Martin and Mary Anne (aka Myriam) Wright in those two spots.

@fatmanfiftythousand I think Harry Martin was at WTNH in New Haven,CT prior to coming to NYC.WABC also had a few anchors from KFMB in San Diego like Larry Mendte & Susan Roesgen.

@East180thStreetYard That's because Edye Tarbox has changed names so many times...she's E.D. Hill now...and she used to be on FNC, and now she's on CNN...

@dsrini9000 Yes,you're correct about the name changes.According to Wikipedia she started out at KDLH in Duluth,MN as a reporter/anchor & then went on to various other markets.

I always wondered if she did anything else during this time at WABC...she seemed like the most useless person on the news staff.

Was Tim Fleischer unavailable for the noon newscast?

(I hate to put it that way...but why do it like that?)

In case you didn't know, the announcer in that news open was ABC's long time staff announcer, Bill Rice. Bill is also the long time announcer for ABC News shows, including World News with Charles Gibson.

Holy crap. I just realized who Edye Tarbox is/was! I used to laugh when I'd hear that last name and mutter like an old sailor "Taaaarboxxxx". Why? I don't know. Good find though!

Before this, even, she was at WHDH 7 Boston, for the same position, the noon newscast, along with Lester Strong.

Well, You are right about her being E.D. Hill, but she no longer is on Fox and Friends. She hosts a program on Fox News Channel at about 1:00 EST
