  • "He once attended a ball, and spent most of his time in a hot public argument on the divinity of Christ." William Lyon Phelps, i.e. "The Idiot" , Fyodor Dostoevsky.

  • Hitch; courageously and illuminatingly honest 'til the end.

  • Hitchens failed to ever reconcile the logical contradiction inherent to his being in contention to religion/s.

If his atheism were true, thus no God/s exists, then everything would necessarily be the result of non-transcendent purposed, self-propagated naturalistic process/es, and phenomena in effective manifestation.

This would include the preeminent proclivity in human nature of religiosity, theism, etc. as evidenced from earliest recorded history and overwhelmingly until this day.

    Cont'd

  • I'm agnostic, but believe in evolution and adaption. Simply speaking, there is physical evidence that we evolved from ape like creatures, and no one can argue that. But who's to say god doesn't exist. Far too many times people will say "prove god exists." The simplest response would to be "prove he doesn't". And really even though there is an insurmountable amount of evidence suggesting evolution no one is to say he doesn't exist. To me god seems far fetched but who are we to say he's not real.

  • @BoxManProductionsTJB No one argues Deism. They're making a claim that cannot be proven nor disproven. But what we do argue is the Christian god. An 8 year old can tell the bible is a made-up fairy tale and I think Deists should go ridicule religion even more than Atheists do because they believe in a supreme being and it's being shat all over by the claims of religion.

  • @BoxManProductionsTJB Does the Flying Spaghetti Monster exist? Prove He does not exist! Shiva the Destroyer might exist. Hundreds if not thousands of different gods could exist. What about bigfoot/Loch Ness monster? Who are we to say they don't exist? I mean there's no evidence to support their existence but they could exist. Do we really want to travel down the road where any claim that hasn't or can't be proven could be real? Or is just with the Christian god that we should suspend disbelief?

  • @RickZiis hasn't or can't be *disproven

  • @RickZiis I'm not saying he doesn't or does not exist...I'm stating that in my mind its a far fetched idea. It's really through nothing more than my own belief that I choose to accept the idea of evolution and adaption. But could god exist? Sure why not...I don't step on other people's beliefs because there is no way I can 100% claim that my belief is true. The only time I ever get mad is when people try to force religion on me. I stick to my beliefs but I am ready to respect other people's.

  • *Shrugs* What a dumb question.. atheism is growing at an amazing rate also... so?

  • I would have loved to see Terrance Mckenna debate Hitchens.

  • "what governs all of the things?" .... oh I dunno.... like physics and stuff? maybe? *shrugs*

  • Fuck military Chaplains. I was in the army I know what they are like. And I say unequivocally fuck them. And fuck religion as well. The Christian god is not compassionate and is not real. That is what I think.

  • Who is anybody to ask why, why, why about God??

Then turn around and be the most hateful kind of bastard walking.

And expect to know the answers of God.

  • has hitchens ever read durkheim?

  • Sharpton is DUMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If god existed, he created everyone in his image. So why are their athiests on earth?, if he was so angry that people worship idols apart from himself, why the fuck would he create over 30 different religions and also create people that dont believe and reject any form of god whatsoever. Older religions are now known as mythology, even though they were closer in time to the creation of the earth, older religions would therefore be more believable but no they are not "myths" and seen as stupid

  • sharpton is beyond a dumbass

  • Two f the people I hate the most, bitch slapping each other. I love it. Both of them are complete idiots.

  • @miket1m You are saying that Christopher Hitchens is an idiot?

  • @writersblock26

Absolutely, are you serious? Shame, he never became a fully realized idiot. Quote: "I am certain that this is also partly why, in all cultures, it is females who are the rank-and-file mainstay of religion, which in turn is the official enemy of all humor." You see, mommy made him put on that itchy suit to go to church and then the Sunday school teacher didn't laugh at his fart joke..

  • @writersblock26

Ipso facto all women have no sense of humour and force religion on everyone. Christopher Hitchens used to spit fire on how Clinton was such an immoral person. Wonder what set of standards he was using to judge? If he is an atheist i would think he would be using subjective morals, which in atheism, morality is up for grabs.

Oh yes he was a complete and absolute idiot.

  • Al = Ass

  • Why did Hitchens bother with this fool? He is not worthy of licking Hitchens' shoes.

  • Sharpton is so un-clever.

  • @jazz4 No kidding, why can't Hitchens elaborate on his former statements? Al just doesn't like when someone can still continue their defence. I hate him.

  • Yes, I agree.

  • Should knowledge replace love?

  • @1wordmanymystycs

wtf do you mean?? love is not the opposite of knowledge but yes i would rather be intelligent and known that there IS NO GOD then fool myself to believe there is just so i feel loved and think that i will go to heaven when i die, i dont care where i fuck i go where i do because i try to achieve stuff when i'm alive unlike religious people who just say fuck the world im going to heaven!

  • Hitchens saying "cancer of the throat" was a little bit eerie in hindsight

(esophageal cancer is close enough imo)

  • LOL, such a mismatch

    HITCHSLAP before it even began

  • Sharpton is such a dick

  • Thank you for posting this, ForaTv.

  • if you see the full video sharpton comments that hitchens does not attack christianity in his book??? maybe he should read the book before debating it what a retard

  • Ive always considered al sharpton to be almost retarded. Why is someone as himself having such a debate besides the fact he is a reverend. I mean. Listen to him.

  • I thought the statistics show that Christianity is decreasing?

  • @tybrady64 It depends on which region of the world you are talking about.

  • Al has made surprising changes to his faith since this was taken..he even supports the rights of gay men and women to marry.

I only hope he continues to be liberal in his beliefs and never returns to the stagnation of evangelical faith.

  • If god exists why does he let his followers get constantly Hitchslapped?

  • @Experiment47 hahaha i was just gunna post something like that. If there was a god the christopher hitchens of the world wouldn't exist.

  • @Experiment47 Atheist are the only ones who think they are making perfect sense when in reality they are on the other end of the spectrum and are indeed illogical. In order for one to say there is no God necessitates that one have complete and absolute knowledge of the entire universe. (omniscience) How can you say there is no God? You can't The atheist position is 100% intellectually indefensible based on nothing but simple abstract possibility. Nonsense. Its not cool to not believe in God.

  • @miket1m you can't claim that atheists are illogical when their whole persona and 'ideology' is based upon logic. they look at the world, see the faults with it and use logic to argue with the fundamentalists. "How can you say there is no God".. Using logic, I ask you: "How can you say that there IS (unquestionably) a god?"

Its cool to believe or not believe in whatever you want- (as long as you don't force it down other people's throats)

  • @TheSmeagle007 Are you serious? You're telling me that atheist are logical? Hows that? Atheist can't account for the existence of logic let alone use it.

How do I know God exists? Easy, I can use the atheists inability to account the existence of logic, morals, rationality, existence, etc... Atheist are not as smart as you may think they are. Some of the most imbecile people I have ever met had Phd's

Force it down people's throats? Like atheist do? Atheism is based on faith

  • @miket1m - force atheism down people's thrats? WHAT AN ABSOLUTE JOKE!! History is litered with examples of religious people trying to force their beliefs down the throats of others. When was the last time a war was fought explicitly to spread atheism or to get rid of those who don't subsribe to atheism?

Get real. Religion is a cancer on the world.

  • 1.

    @CyeOutsider

A lot of idiotic atheist feel obligated to fight what they label "oppressive religious bigotry." Many of them are active in politics, social groups, the internet, and even use lawsuits to change society into a more atheistic temperament. They often consider Christians as a threat to freedom, common sense, and a good life. Consider this quote I found on an atheist website at atheists.org:

"We are constantly being overrun by people trying to get their ticket to

  • 2

    @CyeOutsider

Heaven at our expense, and if we don’t stand up and be counted we will lose the very freedom we hold most dear; freedom of thought..."

This kind of statement is inflammatory, illogical, and paranoid. Yet its common among atheist. They say we can't think logically, we're deluded, we believe in myths. They tell me that I am bound by foolish antiquated beliefs, and that I need to abandon my religious bigotry and become a 'free thinker' like them.

  • 3

    @CyeOutsider

In other words, they don't want me to think the way I do. On the atheist.org website I read,

"Critical thinking, objectivity, scientific methodology, and peer review are all hallmarks of Atheism. Submission, fear, credulity, and insupportable claims are the hallmarks of religious belief."

    Also,

"Godism is consistent with crime, cruelty, envy, hatred, malice, and uncharitableness."

"As long as religious purposes are served, ethics, inquiry and reason are abandoned."

  • 4

    @CyeOutsider

Are these the statements of tolerance, impartiality, truth, and sound judgment? Not at all. Does atheism really teach freedom? No. It teaches bondage for its adherents and for those who disagree with it.

  • @miket1m

Atheism teaches nothing, it is a description of someone who thinks there's no god or supernatural dimension.

Since this term doesn't origin from any writings of sheep-herding, ignorant, megalomaniac peasants in bronze age palestine, I don't blame you for not comprehending it's meaning.

    Fucking period.

  • @NielasHellsing For one to say there is no God, one would have to have complete and absolute knowledge of the entire universe (omniscience) For one to say there is no evidence, one would have to have seen all the evidence in the world. How can one state there is no God? They can't. Atheism is illogical and 100% intellectually indefensible. It is based on nothing but simple abstract possibility. Thets it. There are over 300 proofs offered for the existence of God.

  • @miket1m And for those that preach that there is a God? Your argument counter-acts itself. Atheism is roughly the belief that there is no God because of the lack of evidence for one. I'm sure if majority of atheist were to be given undeniable evidence of the existence of a diety, we would of course believe there is one. However, has this evidence been given to us? No. You most likely don't have 300 proofs, and what you may say you have won't be proofs at all.

  • @Abraxos221 I would agree with you if not for the fact that there are over 300 apologetic proofs for the existence of God. Examples are the atheist inability to account for the laws of logic, objective moral, existence, etc... No I would have to disagree with you. Atheism has to borrow logic from the Christ to try and disprove the existence of God. Like I said, atheism is illogical, its 100% intellectually indefensible. You hold a position based on nothing, period.

  • @miket1m Note: Religion is the embodiment if abstract possibility. Religion requires blind faith. Why do you think it's blind? Because it has no evidence towards it. Religion is abstract. Religion is based on chance. Atheist want to know the answer, not claim it. You have to realize that your answer was claimed by humans with very little knowledge of their world 2000 years ago. The likely chance of you being correct is very slim, but yet you call US illogical. It says a lot about you.

  • @Abraxos221 No, like I said in my last post, there are over 300 apologetic proofs for the existence of God. Besides that, just because you don't see evidence, doesn't disprove the existence of God, you know that. The Bible recorded first hand witness accounts of the miracles performed by Jesus. Reputable witness too. FYI, the Bible was written by 40 men in a period of 1600 years. It is 98.7% textually pure. It is light years ahead of other ancient text in regard to preservation.

  • @Abraxos221 "Science" is merely a word we use to explain the imagined absence of God.

  • @NielasHellsing No, I'm afraid it does teach things. Are you a strong atheist or are you a weak atheist?

  • @NielasHellsing exsacly so many religious people say that athiesm is a religion which is rediculous

  • @NielasHellsing

Atheism is a fools belief. You/re a fucking moron and your "belief, that there is no God, makes you claim there is no God. Your position is based on absolutely nothing. !00% intellectually indefensible. You don't know if God exist, you haven't seen all the evidence in the world that proves He does. You're a savage. Just the comment you made pertaining to( I assume) the Bible, shows me your level of ignorance. You're an imbecile actually

  • @miket1m - If your religion is mean to fill you with love and tolerance then it clearly isn't working with you is it. So why are you such a bad Christian then that you so aggressive and abusive?

Oh and re; "God does reveal Himself to people" that is what every religious person in history has said throughout time about all the thousands of gods man has created. Sam con different gods. Demand some evidence and thinking you "feel something" is not evidence. Every religious person believed that.

  • @WillShakespeare2007 It doesn't really matter what my religion does for me. All of this doesn't disprove God's existence.I'm not a priest I'm a regular guy who happens to be a Christian. Like you, except you're an illogical atheist lol

I wonder why all religious people say that?

  • @miket1m - I'm sure you've had this pointed out to you 100 times but I don't need to disprove God as I am not the one making any claim.

Go away and google "burden of proof" and as you can see you are the one claiming there is a God and therefore it falls to you to prove this claim.

If I claimed I could fly then it would be up to me to prove this. I couldn't just turn round and say well you can't disprove I can fly therefore I must be able to fly.

  • @WillShakespeare2007

    1.

I agree that the burden of proof lies on the one making the positive assertion. But Atheism is a positive assertion. You have a position you hold and defend. This defense means you have a position, a belief, an opinion. Evidenced by you (an atheist) attacking theistic proofs, attempting to refute articles regarding atheism, etc. Since you're making a defense, you're defending a position.

  • @WillShakespeare2007

    2.

Isn't it logical to say that you are making a positive assertion? If not, why are you acting as though you are?

At least we Christians have evidences for God's existence such as fulfilled biblical prophecy, Jesus' resurrection, the Transcendental Argument, etc.

Another problem for you atheist. Refuting evidences for God’s existence doesn't prove atheism true anymore than refuting an eyewitness testimony of a marriage denies the reality of the marriage.

  • @miket1m Sorry but you are completely wrong. Everyone is born an Atheist and there are hundreds of different claims of gods and you chose to believe in one. My position is simply that there is no evidence whatsoever that any of those claims are accurate. Again, if you claim you can fly and I say I don't believe you without proof then that is not a positive claim. It would be YOU making the positive claim.

What "theistic proofs" please enlighten me? As all I have ever seen is absurd claims.

  • @WillShakespeare2007

Babys are unaware of God, they're not atheist. No claims are accurate? Of course they are. There are eye witness accounts that have been recorded. Guess what Willie, no sufficient evidence still doesn't disprove God. You're absurd

  • @miket1m - You believe in talking snakes and and I'm "absurd". Do you have a talking snake? Hey just put your talking snake on YouTube and I will be glad to call that evidence. Oh wait the way your logic works is that unless I can prove you don;t have a talking snake then there are talking snakes everywhere, just like God. Let me know when you can produce the talking snake moron.

  • @NielasHellsing Where did you get that definition, from the Urban dictionary? Hahaha

  • @NielasHellsing

    AND WHAT RERIGION TEATCH YOU??????????????.

  • @miket1m

How exactly does atheism teach anything? Maybe I missed the official newsletter?

  • @GodTheHypothesis Oh you must be new to atheism huh?

  • @miket1m

No idea what that means. I'd fit the term "atheist" by most standards yes- and I'm still waiting to see where these teachings of atheism are? Last time I checked the only one was "I don't believe in a God". End of story!

  • @GodTheHypothesis

    1

No? Let me explain. What does atheism teach? Well, lets take a look at atheistdotorg. It makes statement like this: "Free thinkers," "Free from religion," "Rational," etc. They use these self descriptive terms in juxtaposition to statements of Christians as religious bigots, losers, and brainwashers.

  • @GodTheHypothesis

    2

"Critical thinking, objectivity, scientific methodology, and peer review are all hallmarks of Atheism. Submission, fear, credulity, and insupportable claims are the hallmarks of religious belief." This is another quote from that web site. How about this on:

"Godism is consistent with crime, cruelty, envy, hatred, malice, and uncharitableness." "As long as religious purposes are served, ethics, inquiry and reason are abandoned."

  • @GodTheHypothesis

    3

Are these the statements of tolerance, impartiality, truth, and sound judgment? I don't think so. I think that if they had their way, thinking religion as being cruel, evil, and unreasonable, they would either imprison the 'offenders' or legislate complete and total annihilation of all things religions? Who would be the ones full of hatred, malice, and bigotry? They claim they teach "freedom" I think they teach bondage for its adherents and for those who disagree with it.

  • @Experiment47 LOL

  • @Experiment47 LOL.

  • @Experiment47 We don't get, whatever you are saying. Did you mean bitch slapped? I don't think so. You guys can say anything you want and consider it a bitch slap. It doesn't mean it is. I seem to be bitch slapping you guys around a little lol. God doesn’t bow to the arrogant whims of atheists who demand He show himself to satisfy their criteria. The Bible says, “God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble,” (James 4:6).

  • @Experiment47

Atheist need to rethink their approach and shift their criteria to look for a person, not a thing. You should all realize that attacking someone doesn’t encourage a relationship. Common sense will tell you that when you attack someone, mock His character, dare Him to do what you want, and insult His person he will withdraw from you. God, the same as any person, is not in the habit of answering the patronizing challenges of the proud.

  • @miket1m There's a big tautology. You don't know god the person because god the person doesn't reveal himself to people who don't know him. So if I don't know Steve then Steve won't let me get to know him because I don't know him.

More favorably, sort of, if you insult god he won't let you know him. If I insult Steve then he won't say hi. The only problem is basic theology doesn't support that view. God is INFALLIBLE. How could he be subject to human emotions and insecurities?

  • @RickZiis "There's a big tautology. You don't know god the person because god the person doesn't reveal himself to people who don't know him"

I hope you see the hypocritical comedy in your 2 statements

  • @RickZiis

    1.

God does reveal Himself to people. First you have to seek Him. Num. 12:6-8, Exo. 24:9-11, God does not have a human body. He is Spirit. We don't know what that means but wee know what it doesn't mean. God is everywhere. God doesn't make bad things happen, but He lets bad thing happen so He can bring good out of it.

  • @RickZiis

    2. God doesn't answer to the commands of mere mortals that He should show Himself. If you want to know God, you start by being humble. You don't have to believe right away, just seek. You'll find Him. But only if you really want to. Guarantee you.

  • @RickZiis He gets tired and rests on Sundays. Infallible? What kind of super god gets fatigued?

  • Al Sharpton is great.

  • HAHA! Sharpton is out of his comfort zone, the pretended exploitation of black people.

  • I love how Christopher Hitchens is just better at everything than Al Sharpton.

  • @JRSnodgrassOfficial He's not better than Sharpton at bullshitting people using superstitious myths though ;)

  • Its because they dont know any better

  • Speaking in circles as demonstrated by Al Sharpton.

Critical thinking in actual use by Hitch.

  • seek answers that is....nice grammar sharpton.

  • Hitchens is naive, and so are the people who like him

  • @gobuddyboy hahahahahahahahahahahhahahah.... we're the naive ones... sure

  • "he's done many baptisms" -- WOW!!! Amazing!!!

  • @TRUNDLETHOR What! It's not up to atheists to prove God doesn't exist, it's up to the faithmongers to prove he does. Look, you start from the more plausible position and you move to the non plausible, not the other way round. Almost everything that God is alleged to have done can be explained with reference to the laws of physics. If it cannot, it doesn't mean it will never be. Athiesm is the simply the rational position, faith by its very definition is irrational.

  • @zapkvr You're position of atheism (and it is a position) is a position that you defend. Therefore it makes you position a positive position and therefore you have to produce proof of God's non existence........Well.....we're waiting............Uh do you have any proof? Don't think so, so how is your position logical? Its not. Theist have proofs over 300 proofs actually. My favorite is the laws of logic.

  • @miket1m, Why do you keep asking atheist to proove God doesn't exist? How about you start with some proof that God DOES exist, what is your evidence...The Bible? That's called REINFORCED LOGIC!!! How ironic that a person who believes in God demands that someone offer evidence to proof their beliefs. It's almost comical.

  • @TheDalinkwent I think your the one thats comical. I want to see your evidence that God doesn't exist. You say He doesn't, tell me why. Are you saying He doesn't exist or are you saying you don't know? Atheism is a positive assertion. You have a position, an opinion you defend. Defend it by attacking theistic proofs, etc.So logically atheism is a positive assertion. I'm just asking you morons how you know there is no God?

  • @miket1m, Atheism means LACK OF EVIDENCE thus I don't believe it, Not to mention you can't prove a negative. Do you believe in Alla, Thor, Zeus, Bigfoot, Elvis still being alive and so many other tales based in Myth? By your own childish logic those fables would be just as non fictional. What do you not understand about NO EVIDENCE?!!!!

  • i like how he totally avoids the point.

he begins by attacking the government for hiring 'chaplains', getting the audience on his side, totally avoiding the question of how religion affects people's lives and why it is growing.

i find his whole 'arguing style' of patronism and avoiding the point insulting, to the point where he plays to the audience and makes a farce of the whole debate.

  • @peterluvssouthpark He answered the question. If you listen to his whole answer he did go through the whole "why" question. He said that it was people seeking answers to the question "why is this happening?" He talked about the chaplins to keep his line of thought going. If you watch Hitchens he tends to drift to tangents, but he always returns to the point. He is in a debate so his "arguing style" is not patronising, it's being critical and flat-out fed up with bullshit rhetoric.

  • @peterluvssouthpark Sharpton was the one avoiding the point of it takes religion for good people to do bad things. He answered by agreeing with Hitchens in saying that secularists do bad things as well. Yes, they do. Stalin for example did a lot of bad things. But he was a bad guy. He was a sadistic cultist that wanted power and saw that he could do that using the same tactics as the religious dictators before him. Sharpton never addressed circumsision or the evil that men do in the name of God.

  • Al Sharpton believes that a vote for Obama was a vote for socialism. watch?v=KCpINI5aVy0 Al Sharpton wants to share the wealth. “Al Sharpton: We Won't Have True Social Justice Until Everything is Equal in Everybody's House” watch?v=95bcEb1rV18

    .

Sharpton should start by giving up his $5 million (from celebrity net worth com) It’s also worth noting Hilter was a socialist that seemed to follow the Communist Manifesto.

    .

    Allen West 2012

  • @peterluvssouthpark He gives the answer eventually so stop speculating his processes for him you twit.

  • Sharpton is a dick.

    You been hitchslapped, fucker!

  • 7:26

    Oh shit.

  • @TRUNDLETHOR Prove god exists than your being specific about god but in reality you dont know anything about it.

  • Honestly does anyone give a fuck what al sharpton has to say.

  • Interestingly ironic that he used the image of a "guy who gets cancer of the throat" in his example..a remembrance of his father perhaps?

  • mellowman,

There was nothing aphoristic about what I said...Probably a new word in your vocabulary that you just couldn't wait to use...

  • People who insist that the human race can't survive without religion fail to acknowledge that humans have written laws more lenghty and complex than any of the so called ten commandments.Anyone who has studied sociology or human psychology can testify that those studies can teach us much more about how we should behave towards each other than the bible can.Men wrote the book which means that other men are also capable of teaching us how to behave without all the gore and violence of the bible.

  • screenflicker,

Thank you..It always feels good when someone else agrees.

  • despite my interest in this video, this is why Agnosticism is very better.

  • I am shocked that Chris would advocate for the killings of innocent people of the Muslim faith without taking into consideration that they are being killed because of their religious beliefs.I am an atheist who takes no side on religious wars and will never support killing innocent civilians. This is Christopher Hitchens at his worst and I just got reminded that I will never agree with anyone all the time..What a shame.

  • @eoriol1955 You basically vocalized what I wanted to say.

  • @eoriol1955 Contrary to the feeble aphorism, it doesn't take two to fight... it just takes one to refuse to be killed

  • It's not really fair to sick Christopher Hitchens on al sharpton, it's like sicking a pit bull on a crippled chihuahuah !! Hitchens Rocks!

  • The Internet: Where religions go to die.

  • i cant bear the way the jewish orthodox rock their bodies - it looks evil

and the muslims do the same moves in the madrassas - that rocking of the body makes them look like zombies - my stomach crunches when i see it

  • @matt605 - He means a cooling planet in the geological sense - not the climate.

  • Hitch says we're on a "cooling" planet. Which is it? Warming or cooling?

  • Hitchens is god

Religion was useful once but not anymore. We are a modern society, we dont need bible to not kill our neighbour

  • @montrealwatcher

    You know what happened yesterday?

A suicide bomber blev himself up just a few minutes away from where I live in Stockholm and yes he was a religious extremist.

Society needs to combat this plague of ignorance and start teaching people to think criticly and use reason instead of rubbish iron age principles.

    Cheers m8

  • Help me start a forum going at - religious freeforums org : ) (add the dots inbetween)

  • Sharpton sounds like a special needs student

  • In the debate the "reverend" totally abandons the bible, he is a sad excuse of a reverend. He is a coward and only discredits anything as far as religion is concerned.

  • "why did the best guy I know get cancer of the throat"......yes, why indeed

    Get well soon Hitchens

  • What is a fact is that the depravity and cruelty of humans is out of an evil nature that goes far beyond what happens in the animal kingdom.

Sure their is bloody savagery that is ugly and mean but it isnt done from wicked and evil intentions.

Its a part of the curse of God on a sin filled world yes,But its not like what humans do.

sin has infected the whole of creation and like I said before.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the redeemer of it and us.

  • @Remogogy You cannot assert the notion that humans are evil in nature as factual unless you have proof, which there is none. No one is going to take you seriously when you're proclaiming such nonsense like that. Everything else you mention is similar to what all Christians are incessantly rambling on about as if it were a mantra, it's quite ridiculous and I find that the only thing depraving the minds of humans is to put it simply religion.

  • @jagexisthedevil

I have no idea why these religious fanatics refuse to take one lousy minute out of their day to investigate the point you are making. They are so damn scared of this loving god that they can't even think for themselves.Sometimes,I wonder why I just do not go out and start taking advantage of these fools by pretending that I believe in their god. They don't know and they refuse to learn the difference between love and fear. When you fear someone, there is no love there.Fear = hate

  • @Remo

You christians are always contradicting yourselves.Make up your mind if your god is a loving god or not.Have u ever imagined yourself living in a society where god did not exist?Do you know that god as u know it did not exist amongst the Indians. As soon as the Europeans introduced them to god, they started getting killed. If god is so loving, how come wherever he shows up,people start dying? This thing you call sin that you carry around with you, does it feel good?Get rid of it and feel better

  • Sharpton STOP IT. You're no way near as bright, sharp, correct or as intelligent as Hitchens. Sharpton, you're embarrassing yourself.

  • we live in a world tainted by sin. I have heard the question of where we get our morality answered by Hitchens. But what of Immorality? Mans immorality and cruelty toward his fellow man is something quite apart from what we see in nature. Nature kills when its hungry. Why? The question of evil might be more telling in defining the fatal flaw that lies within mankind. And the origin of sin. God allows pain and death as a demonstration of life apart from him. Jesus reconciles the relationship.
  • @Remogogy Animals do commit infanticide, rape, and constantly have violent confrontations over land, food, and mates. It would be expected that we would still retain some of these behaviors as they were in our evolutionary past and we have not yet evolved away from them.

  • @CliffStamp

And we never will as long as we keep searching for guidance and morality in books full of bloodshed and violence.Religious books should be banned from our lives. It is so clear that they are responsible for creating bad people who do bad things. We probably would still have a few bad people if religions did not exist but not as many as we have now.At least the bad people would not be able to justify their bad behaviors by quoting from a holy book.Religions suck big time.

  • @eoriol1955 "Religious books should be banned from our lives."

Even if we accept the argument that religions are all man-made, I do not think it would be wise to ignore them and that part of our culture. We would have to be mature and developed enough to see them for what they are and move past dependency. Dennet has a lot to say about teaching religion from this point of view, as an evolved behavior.

  • Nature does not only kill when 'it' is hungry. Nature is just as cruel as we are, if not more so. Dominant males fight each other for no other reason than to assert their will on the pack and monkeys actually rip their kin apart and eat them. Get your facts straight.. nature is not nice by any stretch of the imagination.

  • @Remogogy

Religion is what turns people into violent killing beasts. From infancy,we learn that we are sinners and that the first people god put on this earth were criminals.I have had soldiers coming back from the wars justifying what they did by quoting the bible. What you need to ask yourself when you are sober is why would a loving god purposely create man and woman and send a serpent to tempt them into disobeying him so he could punish them and their descendants for eternity.Your god is sick

  • Sharpton grabs his balls at 5:58. Typical...

  • This search for reasons why evil things happen (while we await compelling explanations which any person of intelligence can accept) brings us to know at least that there are two categories: 1) Natural and 2) Man made. That does help a bit, I think.

"What Nature doesn't do to us will be done by our fellow man." ♫

And the Amazing Grace Legislation, offered to us by that christian church council, which absolves us of responsibility for doing things to our fellow man is monstrous!

  • Sharpton is totally unarmed in this little tit for tat. Never take a knife to a gun fight!

  • Sharpton is such a dumb ass.

  • "well i don't love our enemies and i don't love people who do love them. i hate our enemies and i think they should be killed"

fucking brilliant. you can't get any more blunt than that.

  • Fucking Sharpton hes as thick as a barn door.

  • @Y2KillerSPOOBLY That's kind of you

the truth is he's as thick as a redwood

  • Religion was invented by man to explain coincidences and the unexplainable. Someone in the community is sick, he must have sinned or somebody who was gravely ill survives, it was God's will. It is used to keep members of the community honest and moral by the use of supernatural consequences, "Your going to hell if you do that!" or rewarded for to the right thing, hence going to heaven. It's used to comfort when someone dies, "He is in a better place."

  • @MyMistyGirl

It was never meant to keep the community honest and moral. The whole scheme was designed to teach people to accept abuse and mistreatment without retaliating. The same people who are telling you not to kill and to turn the other cheek are the same ones who are out to kill you and slap you in the face.Even Jesus was a fake.He said to turn the other cheek and at the same time he said that whoever lived by the sword shall perish by the sword. What a crazy world the world of religion is ?

  • I don't think I've ever seen Hitchens laugh.

  • @Enthos2

There is really nothing to laugh at.People like Hitchens who study the history of the church must be sad and angry. It must also be very frustrating to see yourself living in a world full of idiots who,in spite of all the evidence in front of them continue to worship and admire members of the church..Then,to make matters worse, they even entrust their children's lives to these people knowing that there is a chance that the child may get raped.Ain't nothing funny there my friend...

  • Every one of us will meet the same fate one day, and in death what occurs is the complete destruction of ones conciousness along with the body.

Religion is nothing more than a man made concept that is NO more plausable than Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny,

Just old stories made into an ideology that has spread " truths" to better control the populace

The only thing we have as individuals and humans is time, Please dont waste your time here living someone elses lie.

  • @Area51UFOGynaecology HOW THE FUCK DO YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS AFTER DEATH? LOL. have you died? no, nobody knows ANYTHING! YOUR ALL A BUNCH OF RECLUSE CAVEDWELLING NERDS, HAHAHA YOUR COMMENTS ARE FUCKIN HILARIOUS,... 'ACCORDING TO MY CALCULATIONS I HAVE NEVER GOT MY DICK SUCKED, AND NOBODY LIKES ME' YES YES... BRILLIANT! LOLOL FUCKIN GOONS, NOBODY LIKES A SMARTASS IN THE REAL WORLD.

  • @deeznuts1776 I know exactly what happens when you die, its quite obvious actually. Your conciousness dies along with your mind and body.

To quote Dawkins. - Matter flows from place to place and momentarily comes together to be you. That means pretty much that you are a part of cosmos and after death the atoms in your body will continue somewere else.

And yes I am quite clever so I make quite a lot of money and get my huge cock sucked quite often even though I have no spouse

  • @Area51UFOGynaecology I feel bad for the whores that have to suck your filthy choad.. NOBODY KNOWS DIPFUCK, SO DONT ACT LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS. now dont forget to drop off your first edition pokemon t shirt at the dry cleaners to get all the nacho cheese stains off..

  • @deeznuts1776 So do I, but I enjoy it and thats all that matters anyway.

Anybody who has red biology can explain it. Its like when you have a power outage and your using a computer, it just shuts down. But the difference is that the human brain will not start working again because the heart which is the bodys engine has stopped beating and the whole body has started decaying like a computer shutting down permanently.

btw why on earth are you watching this?

  • @Area51UFOGynaecology I agree with you completely, and I really hope girls keep sucking your cock vigorously

  • @Area51UFOGynaecology what will be after death ?,the same feeling like before u were born it is so simple, for me this billions of years are like ...nothing,black hole the same will be after death ,only one funny thing- our brain in the moment of death release DMT

  • @Area51UFOGynaecology By far the best paraphrase of what is wrong with religion, and what people should start doing that I have read in a long time. I am so relieved when I read notions such as this, it definitely instills a more profound hope within me in regards to our species. I incessantly hear from people I meet that Evolution is wrong, that all this is in the hands of a God from antiquity, and I can't seem to meet individuals not inflicted with this parasite (religion). Thanks man!

  • @ppd8472 The "wave of reason" has yet to make the same impact in the US as it has here in Scandinavia. We are the most atheistic people in the world right now, with only about 10% of the populace(mostly immigrants)here identifying themselves with a religion.

Strange that someone who has even opened a book about biology can even for a moment think that anything else can be more truthfull.

I believe that in our lifetimes we will see enormous enlightenment spreading across the continents. Cheers!

  • @Area51UFOGynaecology I certainly hope so!

  • @Area51UFOGynaecology norge danmark sverige eller finland ?

  • @Area51UFOGynaecology Love your name, haha!

  • @Area51UFOGynaecology RESPECT FOR THAT COMMENT.

  • @ErickLazcon4 How dare you mention bill maher on the science squad and not the great Richard Dawkins.

  • The amusing thing about Youtube Atheists is that they're usually a lot dumber than the "sheeple" (I hate that word) they decry. Atheism used to be sort of erudite and the attacks were fine, but it has basically been hijacked by nerds who think changing their beliefs will somehow make them smarter without thinking. These attacks are now pompous. This actually enforces arrogance and a sense of perfection. They make me want to become a creatonist just to spite them.

    Who are the real sheeple?

  • Religion...because thinking is hard.
