The in laws may not have been so upset if they knew the baby was still their blood grandchild. You know...its not like she had an affair with some random guy.

Well I think if she just moved away and said her husband was dead before he could see his child be born then she wouldn't have bled to death. Don't tell me that there were never any widows in 1952 raising children by themselves or women that gave their babies up for adoption.
There was no good reason for her to have an abortion, she died rather than admit she had an affair...she could have moved or lied, given it up for adoption if she didn't want it.....not that Ithink there ever is a reason for abortion, that's my opinion. So please no one try to argue this point with me...I am unmovable on this issue.
@rmcreedon Women of that time didn't have options like the women of today do. Today's younger generation takes those types of things for granted. In fact there was a time Birth not so long ago control wasn't ALLOWED to be discussed in public schools. No clinics, no patch, no hope.
@rmcreedon THEN DON'T HAVE ONE. it's just that simple. it's none of your business whether someone else wants to terminate their pregnancy. you sound unbelievably pompous and self righteous. the woman lived in 1952, under completely different circumstances then 2011. this is realistic. jane russell, during that time period, got an illegal backroom abortion and was left sterile for life. these situations are why women need access to safe abortions, because women WILL get them, it depends on how.
LOL, and why am i going to hell? because I think forcing someone to have their body used against their will for something is wrong? oh yeah i'm a real monster. Yes i am lucky that my mother CHOSE to have me (btw she supports choice too!)
no need for name calling. They consented (and not even in all cases) to one act with one person at one time, not another act with another person at another time. On what planet does that make sense, to force them to engage in another act with another person for another thing, because they consented to one act with one person at one time?
Planet earth duh! Sex has outcomes if ur not ready for them u shudnt be having sex!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go 2 church 4 once maybe ull get an idea of morals!!! And in case of rape, there is after pills these days, my friend was raped and had the child and her child is a blessing.
and for many people an unplanned pregnancy is not a blessing. I have morals thank you very much, and i don't need to listen to child molester hypocrites to get them. Yes i agree that people who engage in sex should be able to handle having a child. But people aren't always able to, and mistakes happen. If you think that people should be forced to have thier body used for something by someone they didn't consent to, that is strange logic. Maybe we can let husbands rape since she said vows
can I ask you a question, If i told that that if you hugged someone, or if you lets say swore at them, or kissed them or W/E that you would have your kidney removed from you to be given to someone else do you think that is logical?
No I don't do drugs. How can you not get it. You stated that on this planet it is acceptable for a person who engaged in one act with one person at one time should be forced to engage in another act with another person at another time. So you would give your kidney, GREAT, but should you be forced to?
I don't like abortion either, but doesn't it say some place in your book of fairy tales that you shouldn't judge people? I don't know about you, but if I were god and someone mocked my authority like you just did I would be really upset. I might even shove a lightning bolt up your ass.
I felt so sorry for Demi's character, being in such a bad situation and nowhere to turn...everybody was so different back then and it was wrong but with her situation there should have been a better way
No she didn't cheat on her husband. He had been dead for some time. Her brother in law fathered the unborn baby. I wonder what would have happened if she just told him .... societal norms at that time might have said You will marry her.
She did. She wouldn't want to keep it because it would have been obvious that it wasn't her husbands child. Her getting pregnant so fast and the baby being her brother in law's was bad enough. And being unwed and pregnant back then was considered a huge sin. They used to send unwed girls away to have babies under the guise of 'visiting a sick relative'. People were way different in that era. You saw how even her sister in law walked out on her.
this is a very good movie,so shocking yet intersting. i think it gives a very good insight as to how desperate some women really do feel, claps for the uploader!
So Sad that she was so desperate. I feel so sorry for this character

@rmcreedon The people she was trying to please weren't worth either killing or dying for. Sadly I suspect it's still the same in some cases today.
