  • On 17 July 2010 there will be a gathering in Birmingham to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of 'Searching for the young soul rebels'.

Original band members will be present as will friends and associates of that time, live music, images and spoken word are all planned to make this event extra special and a fitting celebration of arguably one of the greatest debut album's of all time.

    Message me for further info.

'They SAY GOOD THINGS HAPPEN TO THOSE WHO WAIT BUT YOU'LL BE WAITING around FOREVER TO SEE THE PREMIERSHIP TROPHY END UP AT ANFIELD'

(...pedantic 'originals are always best' bore..zzzzzzzzz)

  • When a band like Dexys do a cover version you know its a tribute and not to generate even more money which the likes of ur boy bands do it for. Its a great tune, they have covered it well and just for the record, the original is a classic.

  • Exactly.

  • "spitting into faces" getting a bit carried away there. The cover is crap like your grasp of the written word Chuck Wood"nt !!! what the fuck does that mean?

  • It's not. Ok, explanation: Chuck wouldn't have felt right acting the way You did here.

  • Total rubbish!! Sounds like something Take That would produce. Listen to Chuck Wood to hear how it should sound.

  • Really sorry, You feel so.

It's like spitting into the faces of so many like me who like both - the original AND this cover. Feel good now? Chuck Wood'nt!

  • This version sounds like the crap Take That produce! Chuck Wood is far better.

  • YOUR opinion.

  • Great tune...

  • Great times!

  • 2:00 - 2:06 genius, reverberates round my head when the song is finished and also down the years...

    :)

  • Same here:-)!

  • kevin was a genius.this is better than the original.he also did the best version of "jackie wilson said".absolute class!

  • dexys were quality until they got rid of brass section, searching for young soul rebels top top album

  • Legend; yes!

  • omg I loved this. Excellent

  • Happy to know; thanx:-)!

  • Chuck Wood did an absolutely brilliant original, but this comes close. Kevin and the band should have lasted many more years. Superb.

  • I feel the same way; thanx, RGordonR.

  • mr noita ,why post a comment

dexys were great how can anyone not like this great tune

  • True, rog000.

  • fabulous song, perfect for time away from that one you love... love love love it

  • Yes & thanx!

  • What a load of shite !

  • LOVE 'DMR' Yet another 'CLASSIC'. Fairly new 2 site+can't believe I found this 'GEM'. K.R's voice is unique.Way ahead of his time. True late 70's+80's Talent.Thanx 4 Posting this. X

  • Thanx for the appreciation, Zareen66. Almost tragic how this extraordinary band mostly got nailed down in the public eye to just ONE single song, when they before and after had so much MORE to offer, never shying away from diversity.

  • agree so much. burn it down is my fave i think and also old xxx

  • Shows the genius of Rowland.

Can't think of anyone else who could have taken this on and done it justice.

    Soul classic!

  • think rowlands peculiar & angsty voice has made this version better than chuck woods original

  • & same here; thanx!

  • DAMN IT! i love this!

  • Nice one again JM.

    Good choice;)

  • Thanx, Ray;-)!
