  • God Bless! Phenomenal tune and muscianship, as always. Love you guys!

  • anna...you're just the scars that unseen...

  • This is one of the best songs ever written in history!!!

I didn't think that there would be such a great band like the Beatles ever again....but guys, here it is!!!

  • Analy is a beautiful song....oh wait @SurvivorsOfTitanic is gonna kill me now D:

  • This is simply a beautiful song!!!

  • This song is so underrated. I'd put it in my top 5 DT songs. It's so well-constructed, from the chord changes to JP's amazing solo.

  • Dream Theater are always being slagged off because they ''show off''. My boyfriend is constantly putting them down saying they don't have any talent in song writing, Everyone who says this is wrong. They don't understand the level of skill that goes into their music.Seeing them for the 4th time next month. Hell yuss!!

  • my.....my oldest friend...who is now gone forever....this is her name....Anna Lee....good god...please keep her soul safe....

  • One of Dream Theater's most underrated songs. It's so beautiful T^T

  • our teens now-adays, no wonder theres so much suffering and pain.... theyv lost all compassion .... noone understands truley till its happened to them i guess

  • 1:14 ''she keeps holding on to you''

GROW A PAIR AND GET HER BACK TO THE KITCHEN

  • @Asoufi147 Back to Hell's Kitchen!

  • I'll put my daughter named Anna Lee

  • "The Dream Theater guys are technical and can play fast, but they suck because they are bad in songwritng." To anyone that has ever said that, here is this song to prove you wrong.

  • @BloodHarvest21 agree, for sure the stupid who wrote that listen some shit, DT is amazing by making music, they really feel the music, just listen in their last album the song Beneath the surface.

  • I just love how diverse Dream Theater's music is....from prog. metal, to prog rock, and even to ballad-like songs like this...exactly why DT is my favorite band

  • Come on, people. Child abuse is nothing to be joked about. It ruins innocent people's lives forever. This is a beautiful song with a very serious subject matter, and you should be ashamed of yourself if you find something like this funny.

  • @SurvivorsOfTitanic her name is anna lee too

  • Almost made me cry....

  • I've watched this video so many times and only just realized you mispelled "beautiful" in the video info.

  • organ...yeah....yeah....eh....eh....eh.......

  • I can't stop listening to this beautiful song.

  • Octavarium / Medicate = Anna lee

  • Anally

  • beatles free as a bird inspired song?

  • I dedicate this song to Nemo. May you never get lost again my friend. never again.

  • @slitherlock hahahaha wtf

  • The organ sucks in this song. I really dislike how much organ is used by both Kevin and Derek in the records from the '90s. Great song, though, despite the distasteful organ. This album has a few good'ns on it.

  • @Xallia621 i love the organs

  • @PlataniumIdiot Do ya? Organs can be good from time to time, I just didn't find them particularly good in this song. I'd prefer to hear straight piano. But that's just me :D

  • The start sounds exactly like Joe Cocker - Up where we belong

  • @Carlosmr1984 thanks trivial persuit champ and full time comment stalker.

  • Dear God... why did he have to call this song "Anna Lee?"

  • 3:39 - 4:38 orgasms...

  • Sounds a little bit like Comfortably Numb at certain points.

  • Curti muito esse CD quando saiu.

    Muito bom.

Após a entrada do Rudess a banda mudou muito, gostei um pouco do Metropolis II e só...

  • since James Labrie wrote this song is it about his daughter ?

  • @crazychris93 i just call her anal for short :p

  • I was always told it was about a terminally ill girl coming to the end of her life. hence the line "let her breathe the air", because she could not survive with a oxygen cylinder. but as Labrie says, its always open to different interpretation

  • my name is Anna Lee. i love this song so much~

  • @goochera me too

  • at 0:13, if you hear with attention, can hear the LaBrie open his mouth to sing

    PS, need a good woofer

  • This song is style of Kevin Moore

  • Comment removed

  • at 0.12 you can hear someone (probably james labrie) breathing... even a great band as dream theater makes recording mistakes :P

  • @drobbin88 they never make mistakes, its additions and Improvisations that are put in the songs :D

  • this song is so beautiful

  • Before DT sounded like Queen... Now they sound like a mix beteen U2 and Queen... But THEY ARE FUCKIN AWESOME

  • @diemalibu WTF. they sound like no other, but they are awesome.

  • @diemalibu omg

  • And now she's calling out a name

Can't keep on hiding all her pain

You feel the rain move in

    As you begin

To turn and answer the call

  • i love this song but hate its happening... in reality....

  • who is Anna lee anyway

  • @lsmartin96 my name is anna lee! but its not about me

  • THE BEST BAND EVER...FOREVER........

  • THE BEST FUKKIN BAND EVER...FOREVER........

  • b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l ...period.

  • DT Forever <3333. This song is SOOO Powerful... you can feel the pain that she is going through.... just beautiful

  • The song's theme reminds me of Derek Sherinian's Been Here Before.

Such a sweet Melody... I just can't describe how beutiful it is...

  • this song is so beautiful

  • The voice melody has also been taken by Dream Theater and modified a little in the first half of the Octavarium suite!! Yee

  • @AngusYoungForMayor You mean the 2nd Movement "Medicate (Awakening)" ? Yeah I think I hear what you're getting at

  • @AngusYoungForMayor I can list countless times in which dream theater has reused melodies from other songs. i think they use the melodies to trace certain topics back to others and give hints at the songs meaning.

  • This song is such a departure for DT...like a Beatles/John Lennon ballad. If you enjoyed this one, here's a couple others to check out: "Laura" by Billy Joel, "He's a Good Lad" by Bread, "Goodnight my love" by Dennis DeYoung, "Life Is Real" by Queen, "Lost Without Your Love" by Bread, and "Where's The Orchestra?" by Billy Joel. Those are some good ones. :)

  • @TheStreakedWall those are all GREAT songs. good comment.

  • anally

  • the song is about a girl who has been left behind, alone!

  • amazing performance by James on this song..very fit

  • They made a shorter version of this song... it's called annal. (Fam. Guy joke... yeah just went there.) Anyway I love this song and love the band.

  • an amazing song by an amazing band, but "Anna Lee"? as in, Anally?

  • @XxboVodxX That's exactly what I thought when I saw the Title... Lol

  • such a beautiful song...amazing lyrics...amazing music....dream theater!:')

  • RESPECT!

  • 1 justin Gayber fans .p

  • i love this song so much..."holding on" "holding on""to you"<3

  • the bridge, the bridge...

  • still top Paula ... ;)

  • lol beautiful song talking about sexually abused children

  • @MrMickel11 Labrie said this song is about pretty much anything the listener makes of it. I, for one, also think this is about a girl who has been abused, but remember there is no right interpretation for this song.

  • @xXSTFDXx

That's what all cowardly musicians say.

  • PRO !

  • PRO ! ONE OF THE BEST BAND

  • PRO ! ONE OF THE BEST BAND I'VE EVER HEARD !

  • @MrMickel11 IT IS NOT TALKING ABOUT SEXUALLY ABUSED CHILREN YA IDIOT.........cmon now, there is stupid, but you are abusing the privledge

  • mmmm anna, my first love :)))

  • so weird my name is anna lee :P

  • @vinegirl7 very lucky then ;D

  • Great song to listen to when you're really sad...

  • Shit, first song that actually made me cry...

    Simply beautiful!!!

  • @Metalpupett There is another sad song of Dream Theater do you remember ? "Disappear" of course... ;__;

(the greatest saddest song I ever heard anymay..., my opinion of course)

  • I agree, "Disappear" has become one of my top 5 songs.

  • I can, seriously, listen to these guys all day and night long. They're fucking awesome. James' voice is incredible.

  • the piano intro sounds like Beatles or elton john !

  • First notes, just listen Firth of Fifth from Genesis, exactly the same. Anyway this song is amazing.

  • @Hetfieldmet The only thing they have in common is a piano.

  • XD, first of all, Dream Theater has a piano, Genesis has Tony Banks, a legend. But, if it was dificult to you to listen the entire song, just listen min 1:40 and you will see it. Im not saying it is the same song, just a phrase

  • @xXSTFDXx I just say the first notes, the first chords, not the entire song. I'm not saying it's plaggio, maybe it's something like a tribute, or not. Firth of Fifth, when they make the change between "they've seen the way to leave" and "he rides majestic" (1:40), this is the moment im talking, maybe i didn't explain very well.

  • @Hetfieldmet I think listening to Metallica has done some damage to your ears, they don't sound alike at all...

  • @Hetfieldmet Yeah, agreed with xXSTFDXx, they are nothing alike aside from the piano intro. lol.

  • @Hetfieldmet No.

  • @stefanobudicin if you see the other comment to @xXSTFDXx you will see what i'm talking about, it wasn't a good comment the first one.

  • @Hetfieldmet their bass player in Liquid Tension is from Genesis...so no surprise there. I hear bits of Saga, Rush, Genesis, and Yes in DT all the time. No doubt these bands all influenced what we hear from DT because they were the progressive musicians of the 60', 70's, and 80's. Back when DT was just wee pups getting better every day.

  • @slitherlock thanks man

  • @slitherlock You crazy ? The bass player is from King Crimson my friend ! Mr. Tony Levin !

  • @Hetfieldmet Rather than Genesis, this sounds a bit Elton John-eish, "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" era.

  • I think this might be one of the greatest songs on this album. Its so amazing, so Pink Floyd

  • This makes me feel to much the pink floyd emotion

  • This is great. I love this band, one of my favorite now. And to say only a few months ago I had no idea who they were. I think this is the only album I dont have now. Oh yeah, Systematic Chaos alos... anyways, James Labrie as always soudns awesome. Possibly the greatest singer alive today.

  • @blavaburnulots

Same thing has happened to me. It's been a week and a half to two weeks since I became a fan, and they've already become one of my two all-time favorite bands. Of their albums, I have WHEN DREAM AND DAY UNITE, IMAGES AND WORDS, AWAKE, A CHANGE OF SEASONS, FALLING INTO INFINITY, ONCE IN A LIVETIME, METROPOLIS PT. 2: SCENES FROM A MEMORY, SIX DEGREES OF INNER TURBULENCE, and TRAIN OF THOUGHT.

And you're 100% right. James' voice is super-awesome.

  • @KieferSuth1985Marx I would like to have Scenes From New York... I have all their studio albums, getting WDADU and FII was tough. FII was kinda mediocre thugh, at least incomparison to the rest of their stuff. If you havent already, you should check out Liquid Tension Experiment, its a side project of Mike Portnoys. Oh, and all their side projects kick ass, that one just kinda stands out.

  • @blavaburnulots

I've gotten to hear some of their side stuff, like Liquid Tension, and Transatlantic. They're awesome.

As far as Dream Theater's albums are concerned, I just bought BLACK CLOUDS & SILVER LININGS. I just need to get LIVE FROM THE MARQUEE, LIVE SCENES FROM NEW YORK, LIVE AT THE BUDAKON, SCORE, SYSTEMATIC CHAOS, GREATEST HIT (...AND 21 OTHER PRETTY COOL SONGS) & OCTOVARIUM.

  • @blavaburnulots james does have an amazing voice but bruce dickinson is the best

  • Commovente...bellissima...

  • simply Gods in music!!!! not much people this can see....

  • @trambon2 tell me about, how lil wayne and lady gaga is popular is beyond me

  • Beautiful! Simple fact...

  • Comment removed

  • I love this song. It makes me cry..
