The European countries are very close together and have opportunities to use the languages they learn. With the exception of Spanish along the border states our country is based on English. Even though most of us learn a foreign language it becomes rusty from lack of use over the years.

This was an interesting movie. One of the scenes was disturbing and abusive, but the movie was ahead of its time.

Stop fighting over the language already. Both english and italian are derived from Latin, both are complex and interesting languages. 've studied both and there are very many similar words in each one. Neither one is more disgusting or better than the other. Just drop it. The movie is quite interesting, and regardless of which language it is written/acted in, the story and power of the images are enough to touch viewers.

For this reason, I attended an English course and now I am satisfied because I speak a foreign language, I can keep in contact with foreigners, I can know different lifestyles without hiding myself only in my culture, hoping everytime someone translate for me what other people say. Learning a foreign language is useful. Take the chance and learn Italian!:)

La prima proiezione del primo montaggio del film avviene alla Fono Roma, ci siamo soltanto Kim Arcalli, io e il produttore Alberto Grimaldi e il film finisce ed era la prima volta anche che io e Kim vedevamo il film finito in sala. Ci guardiamo un pochino preoccupati pensando ma chi andrà a vedere sto film su/con un uomo disperato, anche mi sembrava vecchissimo io avevo 31 anni Brando mi sembrava proprio un vecchio. E poi viene la luce e vediamo Grimaldi che così si stropiccia le mani

con un sorriso che va da un orecchio all'altro, felice e così mi dice "Bè! Sarà dura ma vedrai! Sono molto: contento d'aver prodotto questo film." Era la prima volta che lavoravo con Grimaldi.

Quando vidi il film finito ero entusiasta del film, contentissimo.

Grimaldi era molto contento ed è lui che economizzò la strategia dell'uscita di "Ultimo tango". Perchè dico lui, perchè io assolutamente non mi aspettavo tutto quello che sarebbe successo. Io lo dico sono innocente, nel senso che

assolutamente non sapevo di essermi spinto così in là. Grimaldi decise che era giusto mandare un trailer, si direbbe oggi, un pezzo del film alle Giornate del cinema anche per vedere le prime reazioni. Finisce la sequenza e i registi e amici si avvicinano, sono tutti abbastanza impressionati. Io incomincio ad avere per la prima volta, guardando le facce dei cinasti che erano presenti, che avevano assistito i primi dieci minuti del film, comincio a rendermi conto che forse sta succedendo

qualcosa con questo film, che materializza la mia idea del cinema. Il film scappa alle mani del regista, ha una sua vita autonoma e parte per una direzione che nessuno può controllare.

Occorreva un forte/grosso evento di lancio del film per fare in modo che la stampa ne parlasse e la critica ne parlasse per supportare l'aspetto artistico del film e quindi decisi che assolutamente doveva andare a NY, al Festival di NY.

Tutti insieme qua e là nel pubblico almeno 50, 60 persone scattano

in piedi dicendo basta, facendo un gran rumore con la sedia che sbatte contro lo schienale ed escono dalla sala del Lincoln Center, insultando il fim insultando il regista: "Non se ne può più!" eccetera. Però si sente nel pubblico una grande partecipazione, c'è quasi un'ovazione alla fine.

é un trionfo di pubblico, incredibile, al festival di NY. Il pubblico seguiva il film passo passo e gioiva apertamente, rumorosamente, una cosa incredibile!

Pauline Kael considerata la guru della critica americana, che scrive sull'autorevole NY, fa un pezzo di tirambico entusiasta dicendo che UT rappresentava per il cinema quello che il "Sacre du printemps" di Stravinskij aveva rappresentato per la storia della musica. Questo, molto importante Grimaldi mi spiega anche questo, darà modo a tutti gli altri critici americani di poter amare il film senza imbarazzi e senza troppi problemi.

Sul Times magazine c'è il primo piano di Marlon Brando,su News week c'è il mio .Ero molto giovane, ripeto, avevo ancora appunto 31 anni.Cosa accade: esce anche il film, la gente può vederlo, gli amici di News week, che avevano molto appoggiato il film,mi chiamano qualche giorno dopo dicendo: "Bene!Abbiamo perso metà degli insersionisti pubblicitari per colpa della copertina e della cover story su UTP,come la mettiamo?

Esce con una X,che vuol dire film severamente proibito ai minori

e dopo UT nessun film potrà uscire con la X se non rinunciando a essere pubblicizzato sui giornali. Questo è qualcosa che, adesso mi viene in mente, ha un significato storico. La commissione di censura vedeva il film nei sotterranei del Ministero dello spettacolo, a via della Ferratella; queste salette buie e umide, certamente non aiutavano i commisari ad amare il film. Era naturalmente un momento molto importante. La commissione invita il produttore-regista a modificare, nel senso di

ridurre sensibilmente la durata, eliminando i particolari scabrosi, pur senza sopprireli naturalmente, la scena del primo amplesso consumato dai due protagonisti all'improvviso, in piedi e con foga selvaggia. Ora mi ricordo che andammo in moviola con il presidente della commisione di censura e insomma andando avanti e indietro riuscì a tagliare soltanto 8 secondi nella scena del primo incontro, primo amore tra Marlon e Maria.

Questo per me fu un primo successo, aver rinunciato a 8 sec. anche se in principio mi sembrava una sconfitta in realtà, Grimaldi mi fece ragionare e 8 sec non erano niente rispetto poi al risultato di essere riusciti a far uscire il film, che altrimenti non avrebbe avuto il visto censura dalla commissione. Questi 8 sec mi sembravano veramente una parte del mio corpo, mi sembrava di essere stato mutilato, un dito, però insomma alla fine Grimaldi disse renditi conto che il film dura 2 ore
