  • I didn't know that Jack Black played the bass.

  • This is so difficult on cello, god damn

  • It's a beautiful piece. I first hear Patittucci play it on electric.

    Well done.

Might not be world class, but I love the piece and your playing of it.

  • its really difficult to find a nice alternative verssion of a classic... congratulations! such a great artist, guitar player and musician!

  • Very good job! I love the song, and I love your performance. Creative, as William Wozzeck said.

  • Dude u sound amazing!!

  • SKINNY JACK BLACK

  • @TurboJesus3000 omg YES

  • simply beautiful

  • Really great interpretation. I don't usually like Bach played this metrically, but Martin injects enough subtlety in the feel to keep it sounding completely musical.

  • oh man, you and bach rules!!!

  • Back rocks dudes!

  • wow i wish i had such a bass guitar as well

6 stringed so low and hihg

  • This guy missed so many notes it wasn't even. Lost my interest after the first minute. Maybe you should practice chorus a little more?

  • @joshypooz point out 1 note he missed.

  • @joshypooz Is this how Rostropovich plays it? No! There is little passion and challenge in this version. Play it on a 4 string or something to get some gusto into it.

  • ooh man, wonderful performance !!

    Congratulations !!

  • Eres la ostia ! Me encantas! :)

  • why is everybody playing this piece cheating with frets o:

  • can you do a tutorial on this

  • Man, and i thought this piece on guitar sounded great, but this is major leagues!

  • are the keys really right? it starts with g d b...but my teacher showed it to me with g d f# ...i only learned the beginning and may teacher moved away so now i am pretty helpless....

  • Good job, Check out my JS BACH Bass covers on my Channel, Prelude , Bourree and Badinerie!

  • I really really wonder how you tabbed that out? Would you like to share the tabs? Worth to ask :)

I enjoyed this very much :)

  • two pieces of art the music and the Ritter bass both combined c'est délicieux À l'oreille

  • Very, very, very good. Amazing performance.

  • nice!!!adding some more low notes makes it definitely interesting!!!

  • it sounds played by computer... you have to improve your expression

  • I remember I was playing a six string fretless bass in my local music shop, I broke out into this, but I don't know the six string arrangement, I only know it for four strings! *sobs*

  • nice :)

  • Belle!!

  • Epic

  • Very smooth, clean, & beautiful-sounding.

  • I have just started learning this on the Bass, but I am also an A-level music student and a Grade 7 Pianist who has played plenty of traditional Bach. I have to say that I love it both ways! Also, I have just been enlightened, I had no idea that a 6 string Bass existed, which is pretty cool :)

  • Great rendition!

  • AWESOME

  • that was amazing, i have a deeper respect for bass guitar now

  • WOW!

  • A little to fast and too low... I know it's a Bass, but can you set the amplifier to sound a little more trebble? Think would make it great.

  • he sounds good but cello still sounds better

  • @OceanicWhirlpool

Plus the bowing adds tremendous depth that pizzicato can never come close to. Still, nice!

  • Saying ENLIGHTEN ME is enough....!!!I Thank for sharing.:)

  • Great piece man, thanks for sharing! :D

  • classically trained musician .. great skill..

  • Also, this was absolutely beautiful!

  • A really creative arrangement. Surprisingly I liked this more than the classical guitar versions I've heard! The harmonics and from 2:10 to the end gave me be goosebumps. There are a lot of dull people in this comments section, such as the person below me, who can't stand new ideas and experiments. I don't necessarily like all of your arrangements, but what does it matter if it was meant for another instrument? Try everything.

  • @WilliamWozzeck It's refreshing to see a comment like yours on youtube. People need to be more willing to dislike something and move on, rather than put down those who are trying and are probably appreciated by someone else - especially when these negative commenters probably don't contribute in any meaningful way themselves.

  • Written for cello..

    Stick to thumb slappin'

  • @sheracad Stick to dick slappin' bitch.

  • when does the breakdown come in?

  • Oh Snappppp, its Eddy Riggs from Brutal Legend!

  • @ozzfestt2007 ....jack black

  • beautiful

  • interesting:) Always love to see musicians do what they do! this is very nice

  • Sped up a little in some places but otherwise lovely!

  • Exceptional!

  • Beautul Thank you for sharing your interpreation of this beautiful work.

  • i am now in love with bass guitar

  • Amazing piece, great interpretation. Enough said.

  • fenomenal interpretacion de Bach en bajo, para mi su musica se eschura mucho mejor en bajo, un abrazo

  • like a boss!

  • Comment removed

  • Music just turned this average looking guy sexy.

  • Amazing! really awesome!

  • thanks for the transcription! i'm gonna get to work on it!

  • i didn't know that Jack Black played the bass

  • @Mickeyholm888 This is Bach, and it rocks. It's a rock block of Bach.

  • @Mickeyholm888 I thought the same thing! xD

  • @Mickeyholm888 I think he actually does play guitar and bass! :P

  • I like hearing Classical music on Cello and Bass. I am also a person who likes playing Metal music on a bass guitar! Yes, I like METAL and Classical music.

  • @fatfatat444 so did Chuck Schuldiner, the father of Death Metal! \m/

  • @fatfatat444 Want a cookie and a METAL?

  • @fatfatat444 So do I, metal comes from classical music anyway, so....

  • @TheSkipjack95 yeah, and rock, and pop and everything comes from classical music. wake up, metal is NOt related to classical music, it's another style, it's disorganized, random, non melodic, inconsequential. It's all that musica classica isn't. Stop thinking you're related to it, because you're NOT. man, it's a cover, it's well done, but metal is something totally different from classica. live with it

  • @MegaPanzers1 Metal is non of the things you said it was, sorry, but you clearly no nothing about either of the genres you're talking about.

  • @GavelGuitar Shit keyboard, sorry. *none, and *know

  • @MegaPanzers1 Goddamn, you're a dumbass. Musica classica? What a distasteful, pretentious way to describe something that can be so beautiful. I know it might pain you for your precious "musica classica" to be related to so barbaric and low-brow a genre, but you're in a state of pretentious denial if you entertain the notion that metal isn't related to classical. Metal is none of those adjectives, and you're a fuck for thinking so. You give classical music a bad name, you dim witted asshole.

  • @the9ingredients in this case, you may know a lot more than metal than i do; but i know a lot more about classical music than you do, and believe me they are NOT as related as you think, AT ALL! and what's wrong with calling classical music with it's italian name; il classicismo, was the main movement that gave the name to the genre; i've studied history of music for years, and i think i know enough to say you are a moroan for saying metal and classica are the same. Dumbass

  • @MegaPanzers1 Funny thing is, you have no idea who I am, so you literally have no clue as to the extent of my musical knowledge. If as smart as you claim to be, then perhaps you'd know this isn't even fucking Classical music. It's baroque. The Classical period didn't start til 1750, so even WITH your pretentious phrasing, you're wrong. And how can you claim to know that metal and "classical" as you erroneously call it aren't related if you don't even know anything about metal?

  • @the9ingredients ACTUALLY, between 1730 and 1760 the period in vogue was pre-classicism, or post-baroque. And Bach was one of the maximum exponents of this transitory movement, which was the first to present classicism to the world. I know enough about metal to say that it's not related to classica, that's all. Not saying it sucks, just saying that, if you like it im fine with it, i personally don't; but that's just opinions. The fact is that it's not like classical music.

  • @MegaPanzers1 P.S., "moroan" was a very nice touch there, buddy. The irony is how you call me a dumbass, yet you clearly have little to no experience in the mechanics of the English language. I think it's clear who the "moroan" here is.

  • @fatfatat444 Bitch please, I sing in a choir and am an active metalhead.

  • @fatfatat444 same here breda.

  • @fatfatat444 What do you want? A cookie? You really need help if you want attention so badly as to brag about your wide range of musical taste. I like classical and metal too, but you don't see me bragging about it. Your an idiot.

  • @Bludhoundz8 ... well it should be "you're and idiot" not "your an idiot." Your argument is invalid.

  • @thelopeisback Nope, if it were invalid you wouldn't have responded. Now stop wasting your time when I wasn't even replying to you in the first place. Run along now, child.

  • If this video did'nt existed, I would'nt have a 6 string bass.

  • Great work :)

  • ooh 6 string bass O.O

  • Only in the YouTube comments section could something this beautiful degenerate into argument. This is one of the nicest interps I've heard of this. Martin, I'd love to hear you work on some more Baroque, perhaps some Haendel or Vivaldi.

  • bellisimo

  • My subwoofer likes this song.

  • this deserves more views

  • Very good.... Very hard piece to play on cello. I cant imagine what it would it would be on bass. Btw. Was that custom made?

  • 1:43 - 2:22 ........i could listen to that all day

  • @morsmordre777 You know nothing about this instrument,so shut the fuck up.

  • @FuckTechno66 so then explain if you know what the point is dipshit

  • @FuckTechno66 sounds like you might..... is this in any way like plating guitar? because the positions seems different than the regular guitar version and the notes come out sweeter.....

  • @morsmordre777 well then that's the point

  • @ArcaneFaith Which is what exactly?

  • @morsmordre777 To sound like a guitar brought down by a third

  • Comment removed

  • @morsmordre777 NO it sounds just like another bass

  • @morsmordre777 shows how muscally ignorant you are.

  • @mangalegends well then im asking you to ENLIGHTEN me since you're the expert on this instrument. So explain Idiot

  • @morsmordre777 worst troll attempt ever

  • @laiholapso again, i can't ask a simple question and expect as straight-forward answer? I'm done with all of you retards

  • @morsmordre777 you ask a retarded question you get treated like a retard that's natural selection for you, everyone is a retard? isn't it more logical that only you are one,

you make me think of the ghost rider that drove with the radio on and heard, we have spotted a ghost rider on highway 51, on which he replies: only one? I see a hundred!!!

he I've got one for you, what's the use of toilet paper when you have curtains, I am only asking a simple question, and I want a straight answer.

  • @laiholapso Ok, then ANSWER MY RETARD QUESTION!!!! You're making it much harder than it's supposed to be. So in the end, YOU are the retarded one because YOU have not answered my very "retarded" question. What is the point of a 6 string bass? ANSWER THAT STUPID!!! That's all i want.

  • @morsmordre777 are you serious?what is the point of a six string bass?i can deduce from your question that you dont listen to much music,if at all.

  • @morsmordre777 It gives him access to a range of higher and lower notes. Without it this arrangement would be no where near as good as it is

  • @morsmordre777 Love how he is semi-bashing the video yet it is in his Favourites... lol "morsmordre777's Favourited Videos" lol

  • @morsmordre777 haha do you even know what a 3rd is??

  • Fucking rad.

  • This sounds amazing man! You're awesome! ^^

  • on a six string? thats cool.. i would like to see one on a 4 string.. Good technique btw..

  • is not that easy playing it on doublebass : (

    (sorry for my bad english)

  • outstanding

  • thats beautiful!! great job you did a wonderful job with that piece

  • Muy bonito si Sr. te animo a seguir con Bach, ese instrumento que tienes es guapo.

    Preciosa adaptacion, muy elocuente. Gracias.

  • Sorry about User ---> theEs379 Let me say what he meant to say. Jack Black looks like you.

  • Damn, first time i see a Ritter bass in action...How much did it cost? They are extremely expensive basses!

  • Beautiful!

  • Good job.

  • Martin, normally I think you hit a piece smack in the face, but I have to say the only one EVER to pull this off (on harp guitar) with any kind of feeling into it was Micheal Hedges. Tou make a nice attempt nad even far better than the average on Youtube but .... no ... Micheal takes this to another level entirely

  • buy a guitar ^^

  • @gorpusasasa ..LOL. Of course another jealous (treble) guitard player! lol . Never fails! ha! "Buy a guitar..." Duh... would it make you feel better to hear this piece on one more treble guitar??? Is the universe not aligned because it's played on a beautiful six string bass and not some jangle tin, treble pinged "regular" boring guitar? You can hear this for the one millionth time on a nylon string "treble" guitar if you'd like! God forbid someone would play this on bass guitar! Loser.

  • @JamesQuallLovesPSP I'm a bassist, and if I have a bass, it's for play like a bassman, not like a guitarist... The beauty of a bass sound is in the sound of the note, in the profundity of the sound, and the sound of the touch of the rope. the bass is an other type of contrabass, and like it, the force of the sound is in the note, not in the riff.

(and sorry for my english, i'm a french).

  • buenisima interpretación con un arreglo muy bueno

  • incredible version, well done sir

  • learning this...its fun :)

  • beautiful!! bravo bravo

  • beautifully done!

  • @turnerjakethirty its a 6 string bass i dont mean to be rude but you really should learn a bit more about music

  • Comment removed

  • Next music i'll try to learn . . .

  • jak blak

  • this is the best thing ive seen on bass with classic music. stament win. i mean you win. no i mean you won......

  • Beautiful!

  • if you could play the cello, woudl you?

  • This is exactly why we like to say that Bach is timeless. It doesn't really matter what instrument you play it on- it's still awesome! :)

  • do you have tab for this on 6 string

  • Your tone is too muddy

  • Stunning.... beautiful

  • You sir, did a great job. Allow me to aplaud you.

  • school of rock!

  • impressive but best when played with the cello

  • Love the phrasing. Very tasteful.

  • This guy looks like Eddie Riggs in real life!

  • Well done!!

  • Comment removed

  • You seems to Eddie Riggs of Brutal Legend XDDD

    Great Song and skills.
