I thought the launch party video was meant to be a joke. It's one of the most of the most bizarre and unreal things I've ever seen on youtube, lol. How out of touch with the human race can Microsoft continue to be ?
Otherwise the parties would consist of the laptop being hooked to the tv playing youtube videos while they fall over drunk laughing at things that are not even funny.
I really want to know what Microsoft was thinking. Maybe 1/139125 th of the US population actually did this the exact way Microsoft was hoping. and a few more had a party but not in the sense Microsoft wanted.
if no one with computer skills was their to help they would not really be learning much and the guests would not have the "fun" they were suppose to be having.
Say you stick 6 computer illiterates in a room with a laptop what would happen. No offense to anyone
Now one of them thought that the box might contain info to help them out so they could teach them but how helpful were the dvds. I say if it was for a place were everyone their would benefit these features Great Idea.
See many people I know even if could get them over would not understand a word i say and if they did would forget hours later. I don't want them touching my bloody computer a few of them have bad luck with electronics.
I was extremely shocked when I was told that video was not a spoof I could not believe Microsoft expected people to host a party where their guests learn stuff that people at computer stores are payed to tell you or show you.
the video that your talking about is weird your right.. but i mean it's not suppose to be like that, the complete pack that microsoft sent to the "qualified persons" will do the launch party, its not how to host a party its the windows 7 party itself.. we had it, last weekend and i made a video of it.. the video of that 4 person is really weird for me, i was like how come a lot of people viewed this LOL!!!
Bill Gates is the worlds richest Dickhead. Notice I capitalized "dickhead". That's because he's the prototype, the archetype of what a dickhead is. If you looked up "dork" in the dictionary his face should be there defining the word.
With $50 billion to blow he could actually do some really cool stuff for the people of planet earth, who by the way, made him that rich by buying his creepy operating systems. (DOS ain't done until Lotus won't run)
I agree the advertisement is completely whacked.. I thought the ending was a bit disturbing and I didn't get it. They seem to be disconnected with what is cool.
Group mentality has spoken tho and Windows7 should do well.. group mentallity killed Vista.
Vista has been good to me but I found out you have to have alot of RAM and at least a dual core or its horrible.
Not awkward at all. Me and my wife are going to be the middle age-ish white couple. We'll invite one of our black friends and somebody's grandma and talk about Win 7 for hours. I can't wait. :P
yeah we had a launch party too this windows 7 because microsoft sent my friend a complete pack of the installer and goodies.. i have i video of it oyu should check it all out its not that bad, its fun too..
I'm hosting one of these parties as well, but I must admit that the videos are pretty awkward and some of the suggested activities are rather dull. I will be doing a couple of them for my guests who aren't particularly computer-savvy, but then we'll be moving on to online karaoke and other fun stuff.
yeah.. we did that too.. how come most of the people think this party in a literal way, cause this guy is saying the 4 people were force to do that talk about window7 and he don't think that normal people get together to talk about operating system , the launch party was about the windows 7 pack that they sent to the qualified persons to have a party for everyone that close to them that interested in this kind of thing, i mean all of us arer using computer now, so what is not normal about it..
The video is completely insane - not a genius ad - just insane. Virals are normally funny and tie in to a specific audience, this is just creepy. People are talking about this ad; mostly about how MS have lost their minds.
This video, all the others like it, and thousands of comments on YouTube: the reasons why the Windows 7 Launch Party video are a genius piece of marketing.
Hi Shawn, You must remember that the good folk at Microsoft live in an alternative universe, lets call it planet Microsoft. There the diverse folk in the launch video really do get together for launch lunches as if it was an everyday thing. Stranger still 'normal' folk watch the video think its a good idea then try to copy the folk from planet Microsoft. Strange but true even if it is more than a bit icky, just proving that their really is nothing stranger than folk :)
I talk to SOME of my mates about my OS, but they're fellow tech heads. I don't go bringing up this shit to friends that use a computer maybe once a month...
Im a party host lol. Idk the videos were pretty gay but the idea is good. I mean when i told my friends that i was going to have windows 7 before it came out they were immediately jealous. with that jealous came the interest in win 7. And more people than i anticipated want to come to my party now. not just nerdy people either. i think its cool.
You might think it's weird or awkward, but the video is just informal. My opinion it is actually a brilliant marketing idea of Microsoft. Since Windows 7 is much more user friendly, why not let the actual user present Window 7 to other users?
Thanks for the feedback. I hope everyone knows that I don't mean to offend anyone. I just thought this Microsoft video was a little quirky. If you or someone you know is hosting a Windows 7 Launch party, I am actually happy for you and I hope it goes well. I personally like the Win7 OS (See my Win7 Overview Video) and I am getting it free for my laptop which I recently purchased. Thank you all for your opinions and I value the intelligent comments that some of you have been posting.
MS are giving out a party pack to some people, me being one of them... Your ment to have a party and show of the new cool stuff.... but for the most part a few people over the world will be getting windows 7 free with some other goddies
I agree, that video was weird. I first came across it on a forum that had a thread talking about socially awkward situations. I watched it and immediately thought "Who would wanna go to a party where one of the "fun activities" include reading through the help menu of Windows and listening to your host explain how to use it?
i think you are an uninformed idiot who speaks b4 he thinks...can you not tell it is a vid for people who won the "Host a windows 7 launch party sweepstakes.this is what you get if you win.............•All hosts will receive:
◦One limited Signature Edition Windows 7 Ultimate
◦One Deck of Playing Cards with Windows 7 Desktop Design
Oh man.... I feel watching the Windows Host Party and watching the reviews that are coming out... it's like I'm in an alternate reality. Like suckmydic... are you serious? Like please tell me this was sarcastic comedy.... "One Poster with Windows 7 Desktop Design"??? Don't get me wrong you could call me a nerd... but... man you could get bashed by nerds over shit like that.
Your a fucking retard. Microsoft gives their 7 launch party hosts COMPLETE party packs including Windows 7 Ultimate signature edition. That video is information for them and was never ment to be released to the general public.
That video would have been awkward if it was made to be shown to penguins. Seriously, being an informational video, it's even worse because it doesn't make any sense.
btw .. I don't know I you learned about the actual Windows 7launch party application .. these videos are for those, like me, who applied and got confirmed as official Win7 Launch Party hosts! not necessary to those who want to have a party on their own :) that way it does seem ackward
definitely those win7 launch parties are way too odd .. but speaking of Apple's commercial I'm just glad MS commercials don't always attrack the other company , in this case, whereas Apple's commercial is always the same stuff 'PC = viruses and lots of headaches, get a Mac!'
Microsoft knows absolutely nothing about humans. How they behave, what they do for fun, how they communicate or how they think.
This is no news to anyone that have spent at least five minutes in front of a Windows PC.

I saw that video- I agree with you. That kind of launch party would never happen to regular folks having their friends, neighbours over.
Maybe if they had the setting of the launch party in a workplace, to get the employees checking it out, it wouldn't be so bad.

Brilliant marketing strategy, got my box today.
MS is creating the desire, the want, the feeling of missing out on something.
