Wow you guys really like making a discussion about everything. I spent a minute looking for this guy's initial comment and I really don't see why you guys are making such a fuss. I smoke weed every day, and I can see his point. He's basically saying that it's good advice to live a life away from substances, regardless of how mellow or strong their effect is. Just because he criticized mj doesn't mean he's "blinded by the government", as there are other factors at play.

When my father in law was in his 4th stage of cancer he was given a few joints to try for pain management. He was against pot his whole life and kept them in the freezer. One day he said "F*ck it, I'm gonna try one" He was very ill at this stage. He said it made him so comfortable he wished he tried them earlier, nothing helped him until that moment, especially with appetite. He died 6 months later, but at least he had a smile on his face! :)

As I've said before, I was never religious in HS or college, and was not an anti drug activist or anything. Yet I sure never smoked pot! Nobody ever offered it to me or anything! And I sure wouldn't know where to get it NOW!
@Thesortvokter I did experiment a bit with alcohol in my immature college days, to be bad and cool and to loosen up at a party, but I outgrew all that by the time I was 20 or so. And that was before I had any religious beliefs. You shouldn't even have to be religious to know not to smoke pot or drink booze. It's just common sense! @Thesortvokter And btw, I'm a convert to the LDS Church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or Mormons). I joined this in the 80's at age 24. We are taught the moral and physical reasons to avoid using things like marijuana, alcohol, tobacco, tea and coffee. But as I said, I didn't use these things even before I joined the church, outside of experimenting a bit with alcohol and cigarettes.

@Nesninja85 cyanide is natural, jimson weed is natural, Oleander, nightshade, poison hemlock and many more are all natural plants, but they do your body serious harm. Some even have physcadelic effects, thats not to say they arent bad for you, so if you are supporting the use of marijuana soley because it is natural then why dont you smoke poison ivy too? if 100% natural. FYI marijuana contains ammonia, benzopyrene, nitric acide and hydrogen cyanide in greater quantities than tobacco.
@Jdillafied Yes sir! you are correct. The burning of that plant does release those harmful chemicals. It's nice to see some one that is actually a learned person and not just spouting off stupid stuff for the sake of argument. However, thanks to the marvel of modern science, the plant no longer has to be burned for the same effect. Vaporizers get the herb to the point of vaporization of the chemical, no nasty chemicals because there's no combustion.
@Nesninja85 interesting point. However in order for the user to get high, the same chemicals would have to be absorbed into the blood stream and then transports to the brain, namely THC. For this reason vapourizing marijuana may be healthier for your lungs, but the negative effects on the brain would still be present.
@Jdillafied Guess that depends on what you consider negative. The effects of marijuana on the brain most people would consider beneficial, not negative. The relief of pain being a prominent one. Some people get nausea from certain medications, mainly anxiety meds and aren't able to eat. Weed stimulates hunger and is very helpful for those people as well. I know people that prefer NOT to function in society unless they are high. You'd probably be surprised if you realized just how many do it.

@JimmyFormerMarine I don't drink anymore, haven't for a while actually. I tried weed once and didn't like it. I've never smoked cigarettes. So I'm not quite sure what you are getting at. My point is, however, that weed just like most other medicines has a use and isn't "bad" for you. The smoke is, but there are ways around that. Do you use ibuprofen? Tylenol? Aspirin? Ever had a cold and taken cough syrup? THOSE are drugs, alcohol IS drug, but the only thing bad for you about weed is the smoke.
@JimmyFormerMarine wow, how close minded can you get? Weed is way better for you than cigarettes, alcohol, and other ACTUAL. For one, it's damn near IMPOSSIBLE to O.D. on weed, because it's not bad for you. Tylenol, a drug, can be over used and often makes people dependent. Marijuana doesn't have a chemical addiction attached to it, so there's no risk there. I personally don't do it, because I don't enjoy the actual smoke, but I've yet to try the eatable items, it's just not for me.

Who doesn't smoke herb? I used to work in a smoke shop many years ago and have seen all walks of life in there from grandparents to cops and doctors. I was also in the medical field and use it for pain relief from back surgery too. I'd rather take something that's God made than man made any day.

What are you talking about? Big Pharmaceutical companies are degrading society, any prescription drug you take is proven to be worse for you than marijuana. Hell, even caffeine is proven to be worse than marijuana. If every person were drug tested in the US or the world for that matter and the results were posted you would be surprised at how many are using this drug that you would have never suspected. Politicians, judges, policemen, firemen, teachers, etc.
When i was in middle school we used to have one of the coolest teachers in the world to roll our blunts, and she was female!!! My grandpa has been smoking weed every day three or more times a day for 65 years and he is in way better shape than someone who has used alcohol for 20yrs, or someone who has smoked tobacco for 20yrs, he is 87 years old with no disease and a healthy heart. My dad is the same way except younger and only a smoker for 35 years, daily. Ive been for ten daily.
I know SOOOOOO many folks who have smoked weed all their life and has nothing wrong with them. I also know a lot of people who have drank for no more than 15 yrs and are showing significant signs of deteriorating brain and liver tissue. Again, i know people who have smoked tobacco and gotten cancer, or emphysema. My aunt has been on prescription xanax for the past 5 years and the bitch is completely nuts.
The truth is if everyone that was catching a buzz off of things other than marijuana suddenly switched to marijuana only there would be far less health problems associated with substance abuse. Learn your facts you nazi.

Wow you guys really like making a discussion about everything. I spent a minute looking for this guy's initial comment and I really don't see why you guys are making such a fuss. I smoke weed every day, and I can see his point. He's basically saying that it's good advice to live a life away from substances, regardless of how mellow or strong their effect is. When my father in law was in his 4th stage of cancer he was given a few joints to try for pain management. He was against pot his whole life and kept them in the freezer. One day he said "F*ck it, I'm gonna try one" He was very ill at this stage. He said it made him so comfortable he wished he tried them earlier, nothing helped him until that moment, especially with appetite. He died 6 months later, but at least he had a smile on his face! :)

We are taught the moral and physical reasons to avoid using things like marijuana, alcohol, tobacco, tea and coffee. But as I said, I didn't use these things even before I joined the church, outside of experimenting a bit with alcohol and cigarettes.

@Jdillafied Yes sir! you are correct. The burning of that plant does release those harmful chemicals. It's nice to see some one that is actually a learned person and not just spouting off stupid stuff for the sake of argument. However, thanks to the marvel of modern science, the plant no longer has to be burned for the same effect. Vaporizers get the herb to the point of vaporization of the chemical, no nasty chemicals because there's no combustion.

For this reason vapourizing marijuana may be healthier for your lungs, but the negative effects on the brain would still be present.

@Jdillafied Guess that depends on what you consider negative. The effects of marijuana on the brain most people would consider beneficial, not negative. The relief of pain being a prominent one. Some people get nausea from certain medications, mainly anxiety meds and aren't able to eat. Weed stimulates hunger and is very helpful for those people as well. I know people that prefer NOT to function in society unless they are high. You'd probably be surprised if you realized just how many do it.

My point is, however, that weed just like most other medicines has a use and isn't "bad" for you. The smoke is, but there are ways around that. Do you use ibuprofen? Tylenol? Aspirin? Ever had a cold and taken cough syrup? THOSE are drugs, alcohol IS drug, but the only thing bad for you about weed is the smoke.

For one, it's damn near IMPOSSIBLE to O.D. on weed, because it's not bad for you. Tylenol, a drug, can be over used and often makes people dependent. Marijuana doesn't have a chemical addiction attached to it, so there's no risk there. I personally don't do it, because I don't enjoy the actual smoke, but I've yet to try the eatable items, it's just not for me.

Whatever you put in the soil, your plant will absorb a lot of. blah blah blah, cannabis as medicine, blah blah. What about my friends who dont have insurance? SO they have to buy scripts off the street now? Not everyone wants to see their marijuana use as medicine for a "problem" or "condition". How many loosers use alcohol for their problems, but you dont need a script for it.

@HorrorAngel666 You are right! It is stupid to need permission from your doctor to use cannabis. There are many of us that don't have insurance and find that by using cannabis our medical costs are much lower overall.

what we need to do is get rid of alcohol and legalize weed. Watch all the alcoholics get pissy real quick. I hate how people act that drink. They are loud, obnoxious, say things they really mean and then try to say they were just "drunk" and didn't mean it. If America is about freedom, then why dont we have the right to use cannabis as long as it causes no harm to others? With all the manpower and money used to put drug users in prison, real criminals such as rapists, an other violent offenders go free. What are you talking about? Big Pharmaceutical companies are degrading society, any prescription drug you take is proven to be worse for you than marijuana. Hell, even caffeine is proven to be worse than marijuana. If every person were drug tested in the US or the world for that matter and the results were posted you would be surprised at how many are using this drug that you would have never suspected. Politicians, judges, policemen, firemen, teachers, etc.

When i was in middle school we used to have one of the coolest teachers in the world to roll our blunts, and she was female!!! My grandpa has been smoking weed every day three or more times a day for 65 years and he is in way better shape than someone who has used alcohol for 20yrs, or someone who has smoked tobacco for 20yrs, he is 87 years old with no disease and a healthy heart. My dad is the same way except younger and only a smoker for 35 years, daily. Ive been for ten daily.

I know SOOOOOO many folks who have smoked weed all their life and has nothing wrong with them. I also know a lot of people who have drank for no more than 15 yrs and are showing significant signs of deteriorating brain and liver tissue. Again, i know people who have smoked tobacco and gotten cancer, or emphysema. My aunt has been on prescription xanax for the past 5 years and the bitch is completely nuts.
