  • This album had some great songs on it--and some lousy ones too! But this is one of the better ones!

  • 2:28 is the best moment!

  • 1986 really was a washup year for many 60 and 70s artists

  • IN THIS SONG THERE IS NOT PIANO...

  • This is really quite good, apart from the "lip-synching" - but I was always reminded of Stevie Wonder for some reason and I think he could make a good job of this. Apart from the "Leather Jackets" is a brilliant album (Musically) and it never received the accolades it should.

  • SCREW ALL YOU CRITICAL TWITS THIS ROCKS!

  • This is why Bernie Taupin said Elton's made an appaling number of appaling albums over the years. /Direct quote from EJ this year:"I'm not one for wallowing in the past but I did go back and listen to Tumbleweed and Madman, and they were better than I could ever have imagined". He knows.....just accepted fact, that those early albums from the 70's are his best work by country miles, save for maybe Songs from the West Coast and the Union.

  • I like early 70's Elton best

  • I never understood why many folks did not like the Leather album. This title track alone is terrific and has a great dance beat.

  • this song really does sound better when you're drunk. That's not to say it's not good sober but for some reason there's a different level to this song. Plus I'm sure Elton was drunk when he did this video.

  • @weirdguy75 I have to agree there, this is the first elton album I boot up on Itunes when I'm predrinking to head out somewhere.. this and heartache all over the world do the trick for me

  • @skintrade Right on, my friend!

  • Sure, Leather Jackets was quite possibly the poorest Elton John album ever made, but it still had some decent songs on it, and this is one of them.

  • WOW CAN I FEEL HIGH ON COCAINE JUST PLAYING THIS

  • thumbs up if u think this sounds like an 80's version of "the bitch is back?"

  • It does kinda remind me of it!

  • Am I the only one on planet earth who actually thinks the Leather Jackets album isnt too bad? The title track, Go It Alone, Paris.. some great melodies in there in my opinion.

  • @mrbollocks1979 the only reason the album's frowned upon is cause it charted poorly (#91 on Billboard 200) and elton john admits dat leather jackets is his least favorite album

  • Yeah, it's his least favorite album (I still like the tracks, though)! Funny thing, Bernie Taupin disagrees with Elton, and says The Big Picture is his least favorite album!

  • @TylerGDaniels It's frowned upon because by his standards, it's not really very good.

  • @17865329 if u ask me, the absolute worst album he ever did was Victim of Love. This title track is better than that whole album.

  • @TylerGDaniels Well, we could go straight to the first party here: Elton is quoted in the most recent issue

of Rolling Stone, and he says "The Big Picture" was his career lowpoint.

  • @TylerGDaniels Most everyone would agree with you, but most people don't even count this record when debating which of Elton's albums is worst. It it was included, there would be no contest, thus defeating the purpose of debating the discography at all.

  • @mrbollocks1979 should have put the best bits with the best of Ice on Fire and put out one good album rather than two mostly naff ones

  • Where is Woody Robertson these days, he was the director for the video "Heartache All Over The World" in 86', filmed in Michigan before the Australia tour ?

    anyone know ???

  • wow im gonna lay down in my front yard and stick a massive dildo up my asshole with this song playing. and wave to the people that drivebye

  • You say 50Cent-I Say Led Zeppelin You say Miley Cyrus-I say AC/DC You say T-Pain-I say Deep Purple You say Flowers-I say Van Halen You say Pink-I say Pink Floyd You say Hip Hop-i say Jimi Hendrix You say R&B-I scream Classic Rock You say hanah montana-i hit you in the face 70% of teenagers have turned to Hip Hop and Rap.If you are part of the 30% that still listen to real music, copy and paste this message to another 5 videos. DON'T LET THE SPIRIT rock die metallica88821
  • @UnitedPhantom DOUCHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • @UnitedPhantom i dont see how van halen is any better, they are just as poppy as miley cyrus and pink. why did u post this on an elton john vid?

  • what the helli is on his head?

  • @sandysockhop a cock

  • my mom listened to elton john and other performers/band and i never actually appreciated their talent until i grew older. And now this is one of my favorite songs to date.

  • 0586730O2, I agreem but he also did good hits during that time

  • @anathemeboy agree i actually find this quite catchy in a throaway kind of style

  • Why the shit does it have to be his best work in order for someone to shut up and enjoy it? Love the showmanship here, myself

  • @IrisMG yes i know what you mean, it is pure 80's elton and you have to appreciate that, styles change and he did, completely different from tumbleweed/honky era

  • @0586730O2 a huge factor was was during tumbleweed and honky he was sober lol. Not to dis him as he's an Idol of mine but the cocaine and booze had been a factor in his different styles

  • Wow look what drugs do!!! This song is so average Bernie could do much better then this and maybe he did but Elton was too high to know.

  • Wooo Hooo Hooo!

  • funny how he's playing a piano here but there's none on the song itself. Hmmmm..... :-)

  • Comment removed

  • Its great, but funny.. this song sounds like a million dollars drunk

  • @karokeexpresso that's actually very true ha ha!

  • this song is growing on me

  • this is quite catchy but when you compare it to honky chateau, yellow brick...etc, it;s really quite bad, indeed muzak

  • Well it's hard to compare his latter stuff to those albums. Honky, Tumbleweed, Goodbye Yellow Brick, Captain Fantastic et al are all time classics. I think his 80's stuff was generally good, but like Stevie Wonder and David Bowie that decade, the 70's material overshadowed the newer stuff that it never got proper due on it's own merit.

  • agree yes, when you have had such a unique long career as his, you will get your peaks and troughs. From being the sensation in the beginning to being out of favour as new styles come in, to being completely unfashionable when no one wants to know. Yes this era is classed under the later.

  • A really good chum of Mine

  • nice mohawk.i like his little bow on the side of it.

  • this is not elton. this is commercial bullshit.

  • yes it is but it is the most awesome commercial i've ever seen

  • Why did he hate it, self awareness.

Any cut from "Don't Shoot me" makes this

    sound like muzak.

  • Easily one of Elton's best albums and songs to boot!!! Too bad a forgotten album where all the songs are great eventhough they ere not promoted... Would have loved to see this tour so hopefully he would have played all the cuts including "Paris" and "Heartaches all over the world"

  • Paris, Hearache and Slow Rivers were the only three songs played live off 'Jackets'

  • Leather Jackets had a few good songs like Angeline and Heartache All Over The World. And I loved Rock Of The Westies yet he should've kept Dee and Nigel for that one. Why did Elton dislike this album, anyway?

  • The album was released over contractual obligations. All the songs on the album were truly never finished properly, production wise. Elton and his record company at the time weren't getting along, so they released it to fulfill the contract, which he didn't want them to do.

  • OK. But there were a few songs that seemed to turn out very good as I said before. No one can blame Elton anyway. It's such a struggle when musicians have to go through labels, record companies, and obstacles like that.

  • Elton hated Leather Jackets because he was so wacked out on cocaine while recording it to realize how much of a turd it was going to end up being. I like most of it, but it's defiatly far far FAR from his best work.

  • Elton goes punk. *lol* Well, this was his really bad album together with "Rock of the Westies" in 1975. But on the whole he has created some fantastic music and I love his music very, very much...

  • leather jackets and ice on fire were brilliant.didn't they sell ?

  • Some years ago Elton said, that "Leather Jackets" is in his opinoin the worst album he ever recorded.

  • elton's lip -syncin

  • Elton John, best fuckin' live act...Fuck Off!!! Since when has lip-syncing been live???

    I forgive you Elton

  • I hope he didn't. Cus didn't he condemn (cursed) Mondona for lip singing?!?! At the Q or whatever it was called. lol

    MJ

I think he forgot about this one lol Perhaps thats why he said this was the worst album he ever did. (its 80s i like it)

  • put the proper track alongside this one exactly the same and on slow rivers it is lip synched

  • You think? Anyone could see that!

  • This song is awesome! If you don't like the song, listen to something that you know you will love! This is one of the finest tracks that stood out well on the album comparing to most of the others that were too soft.

  • This song is not coming from the best Elton's music. The other album Victim Of Love is another terrible one.

  • Holy crap, does this song represent everthing that sucked about mid'80s music (too many synths, cheesy production, etc)

  • hehe probably not his best year...

  • playback so sorry for you Elton..

  • unfortunately not a single note of this is live -- that version is straight off the record. Elton lip-synched very often around that time.

  • wow what a wonderful video thanks for uploading.

  • what a great video! i have not heard this one in 15 or so years! thanks for posting!!!

  • Didn't know a live version of this song existed.

Love Elton's Cher outfit in this vid!

    ROFLMAO
