i didnt know how to install the drivers that you provided so i went to the website and downloaded the htc sync they provided. so did this unroot my phone? i know it's a silly question but i wasnt who rooted my phone in the first place, i got it from someone off craigslist and she was who rooted it. so i just want to make sure that right now my phone is "unrooted" thanks!

Thank You very much for this vid! Simple question though, i have confirmed that my evo (once flashed to metro) still has a clean esn so i can sell it. And after using your instructions, I have successfully restored the phone to sprint factory. However, when i press power to unlock the screen, the text above the curved clock still reads metroPCS. Does this mean my phone is still flashed or is that just an empty title and it just needs to b activated to sprint again? Thank you in advance

@tooltimebarbie never came across this but it seems like the problem is with windows. try restarting your computer, if that don't work, redownload the ruu file, if that dont work i'd suggest running the RUU from a different computer...

@whoalpo it means your current rom on the phone is not an original evo rom (ie it was ported from another phone)

TO FIX:

-- 4) If you get error 155, restart phone into Bootloader (remove battery, press volume down, replace battery and press power), THEN run the RUU file. 5) If windows does not recognize the phone while in bootloader and says "Android 1.0," rename the file "android_winusb.inf.ANDROID1" (in the drivers folder) to "android_winusb.inf" and it should now install.

@abishop1983 sounds like a battery issue. if you have amon-ra installed, go into recovery-wipe-and clear the battery statistics. maybe that will reset the battery issue. otherwise i would try to run the ruu file while in bootloader

@abishop1983 i've gotten that error before. usually its either because of HTC Sync or if you have a non-Sense rom on it. to fix try (1) uninstall your current htc sync drivers and install ones in my zip (2) flash a sense rom. OR you can reboot your phone into bootloader (take battery out, press volume down+power button) and then run the RUU. (in case windows doesnt recognize your evo while in bootloader, follow instruction in description to rename file in zip and install driver).

@loujennings4 the word around the campfire is no. because they haven't found the exploit yet. To be sure I would use RUU-3.70, then root with Unrevoked, and then run this update. this will enable you to install Amon-RA recovery and flash roms.

When i try to install the drivers from your link onto my phone it says drivers are already up to date. Does that matter? How can i fix that?

@jerrysalgado when you uninstall the driver there should be a check box saying "remove driver from system" or something along those lines, check that box and you'll be good to go
