@TheHardhit71 My dads worked for northwest airlines for 32 years and I'm only 15 and probably know 10 times as much stuff as you about airlines and aviation I've grown up flying and i am taking flight training right now and before NWA merged with Delta airlines was ranked 3rd in nicest and most safe airlines and delta was 3rd to LAST! so fuck off dude you clearly know shit. NWA you always be in our hearts :'( <3
@TheHardhit71 OH YEAh also delta isn't an aircraft dumb shit boeing and air buss build air craft and fyi there made in everet seattle! read up before you say shit!
American made aircrafts isnt safe. Only thing Americans care is money, not safety. 70% of all aircraft accidents are caused of American made planes. European planes are more safe, but they are more expensive and less popular in aircraft companies. Finn air buys these expensive planes and it can be seen on aircraft accident countings. Finn Air have never been on accident which have killed people.
You're making that 70% figure up. Look up the researched statistics and you'll see that Airbus has a higher crash rate than Boeing. And Airbus aren't more expensive than Boeing... Finn Air maintains their planes and train their pilots well, that's why they don't have crashes. That AF A330 that crashed last year was not even 10 years old, was piloted by the best pilots, and crashed. Why? Pilot tube readings were messed up. Recent Boeing crashes were pilot error, not on part to the plane's design.
@Kiraina H'mmm I guess that nuclear bomb was made by the U.S. And the first one to be dropped on by the U.S was on your country Japan! It is always funny to read comments from Japs that think they know everything.

I think 747-800 is a cheap and boring replacement for the classic 747-400 series in my minds eye. Boeing did not want to invest in all new 747 replacement as it was seen as too risky a buisness venture. I applaud Airbus once again for taking the risk and pushing the envelope in terms of innovation and design technologies. I think Airbus have pushed aviation 20 years into the future whereas Boeing are still tinkering with a 1960s 747 design.
Boeing put the stake of the company into the 747 from day 1. If it failed, then Boeing would not be around today. Airbus did the same thing with the A380. If it failed, Airbus would probably go belly up.
Airbus dosn't really compete the same way Boeing Does. Remember, Airbus is really no different than Amtrac. If they lose money, then no big deal. The taxpayers will take the tab.
On thing I like about Boeing is; they didn't have to depend socialist capital to keep going.
So boeings new 787 is not taking risks and pushing the envelope with new design technologies? Sure the 748 may be a replacement but boeings technologies with the 787 are far more advanced than aibus
A380 will make air tarvel much better than it is currently because a full A380 makes more mony than any other airliner that is currently in service. An A380 series starts making profit at 65% full capacity.
Concorde and Airbus is a joint venture with the United Kingdom, and France. The United States has never put a commercial supersonic aircraft in the air, and to date do not have an aircraft to match the power of Rolls Royce engines or the power of the Rolls Royce Trent engines. Europeans can work together, unlike the Americans.
H'mmm I guess that's why the most powerful jet engine in the world is the GE90-115b and the most powerful military jet engine is Pratt & Whitney. Thanks for the retarded comment though. Its always funny to read comments from Eurotards that think they know everything.
Boeing is 10 years behind Airbus. Airlines that use 747-400 will be looking to upgrade in the new future and it seems A380 is the most popular choice. Airlines don't just want another 747 derivitive. They want a completely new airliner.
Now with the delays of 787 it seems A350will enter market 2-3 years after 787 which should make for an interesting market. A350 can also take advantage of building second making A350 with slightly better technologies than 787.
Boeing has stayed with the 747 design because it works. The A380 is too big for most airports to handle, while they already can handle the 747. It also has a nose cargo door, something the A380 lacks, and has such, driven away cargo operators. And with airlines preferring frequency vs. capacity, the A380 is in many cases, once again too big.
the 747-800 is a new designed wing, engines and fuselage. it is made to be more efficient than the 747. boeing has managed to keep 40 year old aircraft in business as airbus has to keep making new ones other-wise the aircraft they have will die out in 20 years as will airbus.
As they test the -8F, they're seeing that the new wing combined with the new composite structure create a very efficient product. So far re-estimated figures put the 747-8i's operating cost as slightly lower than the A380's. Why go clean sheet when you have a perfectly good design to start out with?
I haven't made the reservation yet, it might be through Detroit or through Minneapolis. I hope that when I walk up to the gate I get one last chance to see a silverbodied 747 with a bright red tail.
Oh I see. P.S... book the flight through Detroit. You won't be disappointed with our airport! The terminal is 1 mile long and filled with so much to see. If you go through Detroit you might also see the Delta 777. Have fun in Japan!
Oh okay. Yeah the light show is awesome! I hope you get a 747 with a red tail. But I will warn you, everything else inside is Delta (except the seats). But I'm pretty sure they changed the carpet in the 747's along with the safety video and boarding music.
No, they haven't :( The problem is, with the 747, it would be too expensive and heavy to add personal entertainment in coach. They'd have to intall brand new seats. I don't think they will ever add them since the 747 will be phased out soon.
Well, that's what PDAs are for I guess. When are they phasing out the 747s and what will replace them? Is there another plane that can travel all the way from Tokyo to Detroit?
I'm not exactly sure when, but the 747's won't be phased out for a while. Most likely A330's, 777's, or 787-9's will replace the 747. Yes, the 777ER/LR, 787, and possibly the A330-200 could make the Detroit-Tokyo trip.
No problem! Yes, I'm pretty sure the meals have changed. The food is now from Delta's menu. This past summer I went from New York to Pisa. The Business Class food was pretty good, but I heard the coach wasn't good. I don't think there's a huge difference in quality of food between NWA and Delta.
There is not a snowball's chance in you-know-where that an A-330-200 could make DTW/NRT nonstop except as a ferry flight. It is a great airplane, but SFO/SEA-NRT is as about as long a range as you could get out of it. Of course, it does run SLC-NRT----and how it does it in the summer time is beyond me. I had no idea that airplane could handle a high altitude/hot day takeoff environment. Hmmm. Maybe I'm wrong!
our 747 look better on nwa colors dl white and blue look pretty bad what have they done with our planes lets go union delta people is time to make delta our delta no richar anderson delta
Delta's livery was designed to represent both the new face of delta, and incorporate Northwest.. it was well planned out even before the merger was announced. NW colors were known for their silver and bright red tail.. if you look at Delta, their white, with a blue and bright red tail.. the delta widget is in fact pointing to the northwest side of the compass just as Northwest airlines logo was, it's quite touching really.. that NW still lives on.. Happy flying! DAL Proud.
I completely agree! Even though Delta's colors is a little lame, White is one of the most expensive colors, but the northwest silver, had actual SILVER particles in the paint. CASH MONEY. Very expensive... very VERY expensive, they spent a lot of money on their new aircraft(A330, CRJ900, EMB175, Ordered the 787...) Where as Delta's cabins of the same aircraft or similar... completely cheaped out. but their pretty... anyway.. happy flying!
Since they merged, the delta planes should have that silvery/goldish pain job that the NWA planes had with the delta on it. That would look really cool! But sadly no:(
remember that most of the official of delta are from nwa.NWA is way way more better company than delta airlines.they just try to get rid of the union....
lolz Are you sure your getting your facts right?? I remember Delta was in bankruptcy first and had money problem.... Next time you make comments superdan get your facts stright
NWA was the worst excuse of an overseas airline when it came to caring for big money pax, i used to spend $50K a year on business, and can't tell you howmany times I was punked! To hell with um'! Hope the old gasbag F/A's hit the rocking chairs at last! Need young people in these planes! Not these relics from the unions!
An immense wave of pain went through me as I saw that, fare the well NWA! I'll miss the old bowling shoe and silvery liveries that once blanketed DTW, MSP, NRT, and MEM.
It's sad that so many NWA employees are going to lose their jobs or get pay cuts. I live in DTW, well not in the airport, but we currently have four NWA 744 flights, and Delta is making it only two, and only four A333 flights. Instead of the A333, they are giving us 767's. They're cutting down everything. Plus they are taking away all of the 757-200 w/ winglets.
I live in a town that houses 70% of Delta employees (2 of my neighbors are mechanics) . I have never heard anything bad from them. In fact they love it. Believe me, you won't get screwed by Delta
OMG WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS NWA is way more better then delta 1 HATE THE NAME 2 COLORS are hidious 3 awkward just plain awkward and weird is there any way for them to change it or is evrything alredy set in stone
The only people to lose jobs will probably be people in upper management. their will be a need for pilots to fly the planes. flight attendants to take care of passengers on the planes. ground crew to get the planes back in the air. mechanics to keep the planes flying safely. ticket agents to deal with the huge # of passengers. do you see where I am going with this?
I see what you are saying, but my dad works as a manager for NWA tech ops and people ARE going to lose their jobs and/or get demoted. They are cutting back.
I heard a rumor that Delta will have painted over all of NWA's planes by March 2009, I'm flying NWA in April, I would hope to get a last glimpse of the NWA livery, anyone know if this is true? :(
This is the worst designed 747 I have ever seen. They should have kept Northwest logo. Delta just isn't the right airline for Asia. Very sad to see Northwest go.
I agree with you 100%, plus Northwest seems more sophisticated. But yes, it is going to be very weird seeing Delta's in Asia. They are going to paint another B747-400, 6306, very soon.
It's from the YouTube pre-selected songs. Click on the "Statistics & Data" button for this video, and it will tell you the name of the song and everything. The song is called "A Sad Pathway" by Musicshake. Thanks for watching!
You're welcome for the B747-400's and the A330's. Okay, "Delta Air Lines way"? The current CEO of Delta, is the former CEO of Northwest Airlines. Did you notice the new colors of Delta? The Delta symbol is pointing in the northwest direction. Secondly, the Delta symbol is all red. The colors were changed after Anderson became the CEO. Notice a pattern? Northwest is taking over Delta, but they are keeping the Delta name. They will combine both ways of doing business, not all Delta ways.
Yes. Everything is the same inside. They still have those awesome World Business Class seats, and those not-so-great economy seats. The only thing that changed is the livery.
Yep, it's sad. I just saw the first NWA aircraft to take on the Delta colors: A320 N314US and DC-9-50 N776NC, an old North Central Airlines bird. Good luck, Delta, and thank you, Northwest. You'll be missed.
NOOOOOOO!!!!! Well, it was inevitable. Always wanted to fly the 747-400 under NWA Colors, but sadly, its apparent that my wish will never come true. I hope they keep 1 or 2 in NWA colors
Well it's going to take a while to paint them all. You still have time to fly one with NWA colors. They have also already painted an A320and DC-9 in Delta colors.
Thanks for sharing. I really like delta, and love the 747 - so this is great. I do agree though it is a bit plain - considering they have a huge oppurtunity to paint such an attractive and highly recognisable aircraft. If it were next to other airline's schemes, it would get lost.
Under all that Delta paint, there somewhere lies NWA logo. I like to think this

Unless Delta decides to wash their aircraft as much as Japan Air Lines, a HUGE mistake to go from a satin silver paint job to WHITE.
To see my point you merely need to check Air France's white dirty looking 747's.
Another wise decision by the guys making the big bucks...

Northwest will be only history in a few years, because Delta is painting all Northwest aircrafts little by little : )
trancebeliever 2 years ago
How'd you know it was a NWA plane painted in delta colors?
CWM480 2 years ago
Because I saw it painted in NWA colors right before they painted it Delta, and what other airline would it be?! UAL doesn't fly a B747 to Detroit.

Same here! I wish it would have taken the Northwest title! I loved flying Northwest!!!!
UAL151 2 years ago 4
Its a NW crew flying that jet. Delta has not had a 747 since the early 1970s. I guess you are still flying NW (just with different paint).
drrkressg 2 years ago
its not late 1970s it was since 1999
superdan2010 2 years ago
What tail number was the
Delta 747 in 1999, Dan?
michigankid 2 years ago
An immense wave of pain went through me as I saw that, fare the well NWA! I'll miss the old bowling shoe and silvery liveries that once blanketed DTW, MSP, NRT, and MEM.
WingsOTWorld 2 years ago
It's sad that so many NWA employees are going to lose their jobs or get pay cuts. I live in DTW, well not in the airport, but we currently have four NWA 744 flights, and Delta is making it only two, and only four A333 flights. Instead of the A333, they are giving us 767's. They're cutting down everything. Plus they are taking away all of the 757-200 w/ winglets.
TennisChamp59 2 years ago
man, it's so sad that Delta is getting rid of the Boeing 747-400, queen of the skies.
jgshi 2 years ago 3
it still does! but no for long!
pilotanthony 2 years ago
It's a damn shame to see one fewer red tail at DTW :(

delta screwed NWA..big time...
michigan747 3 years ago 2
Yes they did and it's very unfortunate.
TennisChamp59 2 years ago
the skewed Delta "widget" on the tail is the lamest thing I've ever seen.
johnnyonejock 3 years ago
Well it's the second lamest thing... right after Delta's CEO.
TennisChamp59 2 years ago
you obviously didn't know that the CEO of NWA is now the CEO of Delta right?
detboy600 2 years ago
Yes, I already knew that. I still don't like him though.
TennisChamp59 2 years ago
I find it sad that its the end of the line for northwest but i'm happy for delta! what a fleet they've got coming their way

delta screwed nwa....
michigan747 3 years ago
I live in a town that houses 70% of Delta employees (2 of my neighbors are mechanics) . I have never heard anything bad from them. In fact they love it. Believe me, you won't get screwed by Delta
crunkteezy 3 years ago
Some NWA mechanics are going to lose their jobs and many are receiving pay cuts.
TennisChamp59 3 years ago
OMG WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS NWA is way more better then delta 1 HATE THE NAME 2 COLORS are hidious 3 awkward just plain awkward and weird is there any way for them to change it or is evrything alredy set in stone
NWA LOVE YOU WILL MISS YOU AND YOUR RED TAILS
AreUFilipino 3 years ago
it is set in stone. I am from Atlanta and I love both airlines. look on the bright side NWA is going to become part of the worlds biggest airline.
crunkteezy 3 years ago
And look on the down side, many employees are going to lose their jobs or get pay cuts. NWA was better off without Delta.
TennisChamp59 3 years ago
The only people to lose jobs will probably be people in upper management. their will be a need for pilots to fly the planes. flight attendants to take care of passengers on the planes. ground crew to get the planes back in the air. mechanics to keep the planes flying safely. ticket agents to deal with the huge # of passengers. do you see where I am going with this?
crunkteezy 3 years ago
I see what you are saying, but my dad works as a manager for NWA tech ops and people ARE going to lose their jobs and/or get demoted. They are cutting back.
TennisChamp59 3 years ago
I wish you and your family luck through these hard times for you.
crunkteezy 3 years ago
Thank you so much.

UGLY PLANE...
michigan747 3 years ago
I heard a rumor that Delta will have painted over all of NWA's planes by March 2009, I'm flying NWA in April, I would hope to get a last glimpse of the NWA livery, anyone know if this is true? :(
flyguy380 3 years ago
I doubt it, their are still Delta aircraft in the old livery. I mean the one before the one they used to have.
crunkteezy 3 years ago
This is the worst designed 747 I have ever seen. They should have kept Northwest logo. Delta just isn't the right airline for Asia. Very sad to see Northwest go.
kev94114 3 years ago
I agree with you 100%, plus Northwest seems more sophisticated. But yes, it is going to be very weird seeing Delta's in Asia. They are going to paint another B747-400, 6306, very soon.

Delta is the premiere carrier all others step aside NorthTrash get ready to do it Delta Air Lines way! Welcome Aboard........
sk8tintager 3 years ago
You're welcome for the B747-400's and the A330's. Okay, "Delta Air Lines way"? The current CEO of Delta, is the former CEO of Northwest Airlines. Did you notice the new colors of Delta? The Delta symbol is pointing in the northwest direction. Secondly, the Delta symbol is all red. The colors were changed after Anderson became the CEO. Notice a pattern? Northwest is taking over Delta, but they are keeping the Delta name. They will combine both ways of doing business, not all Delta ways.

I just worked a 3-day Nagoya trip on this plane. Shiny and new on the outside but inside, it's falling apart. It's kind of prophetic, I think.
flyr4life 3 years ago 2
Hello again! I didn't know that Delta has B747... To be honest, I don't like the librery... I like Iberia, Alitalia and British libreries.

Beautiful airplane. Very good look for it.

I think Delta needs to be removed from the side.
2200949 3 years ago
inside the cabin, do they keep northwest seats ?
benusasky 3 years ago
Yes. Everything is the same inside. They still have those awesome World Business Class seats, and those not-so-great economy seats. The only thing that changed is the livery.
TennisChamp59 3 years ago
but they will introduce the new delta seats.... with AVOD like the 777LR
totesen 3 years ago
Yep, it's sad. I just saw the first NWA aircraft to take on the Delta colors: A320 N314US and DC-9-50 N776NC, an old North Central Airlines bird. Good luck, Delta, and thank you, Northwest. You'll be missed.
fanofgordon 3 years ago
I work at MSP Airport, and it's sad to see this, even though we knew for months it was coming...
NWA was flying passengers before Delta was cropdusting... figure that out.
fanofgordon 3 years ago
Delta founded 1924 crop dusting, first passenger 1928
NWA founded 1926 mail carrier, first passenger 1927
Its not about how old you are?, its about having the money to continue flying.
jboyd007 3 years ago
the new delta colors look bad on the 744 beacuse the titles are really small and the tail colors are dull the should create a tottaly new one
chrisallen2299 3 years ago
the nwa colors are sooo much better
chrisallen2299 3 years ago
wow in 2 months you might a get million views
XxXFsPlayer09XxX 3 years ago 5
the plane reminds me of a 767-300er
reddishknight007 3 years ago
Am I blind or does the NWA colors look a million times more sophisticated than this boring plain FORGETTABLE Delta blah.
Looking at this just reminds me of how tasteless America has become. It's like companies like Delta search out tackiness.
It looks Third World to me.
Cino1 3 years ago 3
I don't know if Delta looks third world, but NWA's design is definitely more advanced.
mrbula 3 years ago
Farewell, NWA.... You will be missed.
JAMESSAW 3 years ago 5
NOOOOOOO!!!!! Well, it was inevitable. Always wanted to fly the 747-400 under NWA Colors, but sadly, its apparent that my wish will never come true. I hope they keep 1 or 2 in NWA colors
duk309 3 years ago
Well it's going to take a while to paint them all. You still have time to fly one with NWA colors. They have also already painted an A320and DC-9 in Delta colors.
TennisChamp59 3 years ago
yeah, im also just starting to work on my pilots license. I'm just about out of high school
duk309 3 years ago
Oh I see. Good luck!
TennisChamp59 3 years ago
great pics! I'm heading out to MSP on Friday to get the 747's flight to NRT. I'll post some pics then.
stejensen 3 years ago
Thanks for sharing. I really like delta, and love the 747 - so this is great. I do agree though it is a bit plain - considering they have a huge oppurtunity to paint such an attractive and highly recognisable aircraft. If it were next to other airline's schemes, it would get lost.
