While I think playing music should be an outlet to express individuality and creativity, it's no excuse for pretending to be innovative. Flip your cymbals over, and learn some real drum technique with a metronome. I heard Ben Weinman say once, "Learn the rules, then break them". Not the other way around.

I feel that way every time, I'm not even joking. That one reason I play to music. I get alot of ideas for drums from vocal rhythms every where. Music of course, but movies, tv shows, etc.

I always want to do more to vocal rhythms in hip hop, rap, or metal that's "rap" vocally. It depends on the specific part (of the song, etc.).
