  • This is a 99-01 E46... not a 2000-2005. The car changed from 02-05

  • vorrei vedere la stessa cosa con una alfaromeo, UAH UAH !!

  • super voiture pour une année 2000 cest pas mal 20/20

  • That shit will buff right out.

  • the 1998-2005 BMW 3 Series was assembled in

    Leipzig, Germany

    Munich, Germany

    Regensburg, Germany

    Rosslyn, South Africa

    6th of October City, Egypt

    Kaliningrad, Russia

    Shenyang, China

  • @Annihilator1111 WDF really... Hard to comprehend they were from china.

  • uhhh mercedes c class is much better in this test, not so good result

  • wich speed ??

  • i get an A for safety because i don't have a car. yay me!

  • @scir91 you get a -B for not having a car... :D

  • you guys know what i think?

lets smash a car or a truck in the rear end of the car after the first crash.

if your on a hi-way, its most likely the car or truck behind will smash right into you

    but anyhow good work BMW

  • @kallecan

I think you can always create a scenario where the car collapses and everyone into it dies, but there is a limit fora safety which you can't pass unless you are driving a tank.

  • why is the window always down with crashes ?

  • @counkev my guess is so that the camera can see clearly what is happening in the cockpit, just in case the glass cracks up.

  • Like Beemers

  • I really want the wagon version of this car once I'm done with school. Good thing it looks pretty safe. :)

  • this car gets an A for saftey

  • My dad took one of these at 50 into the side of a small Honda who blew a stop sign. It was still running and rolling forward and he was fine. He had to shut off the engine lol. Girls had to both go to the ER.

  • Its not the 2002-2005 one, its 1998-2001 -.-

  • Io tengo un BMW :)

  • den gibts seit 1998 schon auch

  • The reason why BMW does well in offset crash tests is that they test their cars in their own facilities using front offset crashes.

  • That look pretty bad for such a slow crash. Other cars such as Acura and Lexus have much better result and protection.

I have to said that I don't feel too safe on my 5series after seeing some bad slow accident in person.

  • @stryker95th Are you joking?! This car was class leading for safety. The Acura TL and RL from the same era, 1999-2004 or so, didn't receive nearly as good scores. BTW if you drive a 1997-2003 5-series, sleep easy, because that car did excellent. The Lexus LS400 actually did very well.

  • The Acura TL did very well too, but the pre 2005 RL did only acceptable. The 2005+ RL is the safest car in the IIHS crash test.

  • Better than the 1997-2001 Infiniti Q45, which scored a marginal. Well, Acura is THE only car company whose ENTIRE lineup of currently produced vehicles have 5-star ratings. The only midsize luxury vehicle I know about that is currently in production that can match the RL's ratings is the new Hyundai Genesis.

  • Every Acura crash test was great to amazing... the 2005+ RL's crash test was the smoothest to the eye. And forces were very low on the dummy; the head injury criterion was 137, or about one third the result of this test. If 300 something can cause a minor head injury at most, then 137 would not cause any injury. Forces on the chest and legs were also ahead of the curve, and still are.

  • Sounds great, I'll need to look it up again to see again for myself.

  • I just watched the video: AMAZING!!!

The frame didn't bend a single bit, the door didn't ding AT ALL, and the windshield was left completely intact and probably could be perfectly reusable. You weren't kidding.

  • you'd get your cell phone, call a friend, get a ride home, and it'd be a perfectly normal day injury wise :) ive been impressed with that car's safety ever since the minute i first saw its crash test in 2005.

  • No kidding. No twisted ankles either.

  • that audi crash test was good, but there's a risk of leg injury.

  • True, but still, it also employs anti-whiplash measures.

  • yeah it was pretty good, but the acura's better. in the audi the driver hit the roof rail. notice in the acura the airbag actually deflated in a way that sent the driver's head straight back into the seat. it was a smooth stop for the head.

  • I noticed that the head of the A6 driver brushed along the roofline and the A-pillar.

  • if you had to sit in one for the crash, which one would it be?

  • The Acura ANY day of the week, hands down.

Not to mention that it's a supremely comfortable car to sit in, seats are Lexus and Hyundai Genesis comfortable.

  • Me too, hands down, especially Friday! Leg forces 50% lower, less chest compression, the airbag is more agreeable to the face.

  • You've REALLY done your research.

Especially useful on Friday, so you will be safe and unhurt to enjoy the weekend?

  • Yeah and get a new car on Monday :) Of course I'm 17, so young and limber, but those in their 40s-50s might appreciate the safety difference more, but even I would appreciate the Acura's more advanced safety features if I had to crash both. lol.

  • Anyone who didn't want to kill themselves in a crash would like the features the RL has to offer. So what if the RL's nav graphics are crunchy and it hasn't sold too well recently. it's still a great car.

  • Heck, i wouldn't WANT to crash the thing, from what I read it's awesome. It's one of my dream cars - literally, I've probably gone to sleep thinking of it like 50 times since I was 12 (mostly when I was 12)

  • Hmm... I've never yearned for a car that much. The top cars on my dream list. BMW 335i hard top convertible, Hyundai Genesis 4.6, Bentley Continental Flying Spur, 2010 Range Rover Autobiography Supercharged, Ferrari F430 Coupe, and the Maserati Gran Turismo S.

  • Yeah, I see that car as my car about 5 years after I start driving, which would add up to 2017 at this rate (I should have started driving a year or two ago)

  • Eh, don't worry, I currently don't drive, but sooner or later you will be able to buy a used RL.

  • @whattheheck1000 lol, definitley not an asian car

  • @3312cdfp5674 Remember, I was 12 when I was obsessed with that car.

  • Why are the 3-series so safe for their class, but the 5-series arent nearly as impressive?

  • @4MATICbenzareforgirls.

Because they are the 5s is heavier the the 3s. But uses much of the same grade steel.

  • 328i 2001 here

  • @lucasschmitt1991 it's 2000

  • Yeah thats Quality made in GERMANY.

Its Bee Emmm double Yoooo :D

  • safe for the driver but that car got fucking DESTROYED.

  • Every car is DESTROYED. It is imposible to make them new.. even cars from 2008... You can repair them so they drive and look like new but they are NOT safe anymore..

  • im just sayin.

most stop at one point, that one kept IMPLODING till it was in the driver compartment pretty much. lol.

my girl has this car, thats why it caught my eye. lol

  • Better the car destroyed than the driver -- it's either one or the other. :)

  • thats true fersher...

still though! haha. the car didnt even slow down until it hit the frame!

  • well this car is safe

  • Extremely safe vehicle!

  • The glass didn't even crack!

  • its kinda eery seeing my same model n color car crashing :\

  • das schöne auto

  • looks not bad...
