@KeziaMyDarlingPTH some type of archtop with a trapeze tailpiece. at 2:12 - 2:14 it kinda looks like it starts with an H or A, so i am guessing an old Harmony Archtop.
@teamjames1 When I was going to see death cab for the first time i was worried their live sound wouldn't measure up to their amazing albums, proven wrong during song 1, Employment Pages
I love how whether he's standing or sitting, rocking out or being mellow, Ben always has that side to side motion going on as he feels the music he's performing. These two guys are the Lennon and McCartney of their generation. Their talents are immense.
Would you believe i've never seen this one before? I love it. I agree with iluvrrsnowflake. I know you must love the way he says thank you right as it all fades out:)
One of their best songs IMO. Really hard to say their best song cause all their songs are amazing. The lyrics in this song are amazing and Chris Walla is fuckin siiiiiick!!! DCFC!!!!!
I remember when I first heard Death Cab. My first reaction was I didn't like it. But for some reason I kept coming back and listening to it, over and over again. I didn't know why. But I know realize It wasn't that I didn't like, it was that I was listening to something different, and my ears just weren't ready for it. They combine beautiful lyrics with beautiful music, a hard combination to find these days. Their music grows on you.
@nino0057 That happened to me too! I first heard them when I was younger....and I didn't like them in the least. But now, I'm like addicted! Ugh...I want to see them live!
@humdiddlediddle I'm crushed, your approval met so much to me. I will now to proceed to make non-gay comments. In fact, I will refrain from commenting on anything that doesn't have something to do with skulls and daggers... really get those masculinity points in.
This is a good song to compare to pete hoovers. They are very much exactly alike. I've covered death cab before, but usually more of the piano melodies, seeing as though i'm not such a great guitarist yet. I'll post them sometime :/
I feel the same as written in the last two comments... Death Cab's music comforts me, saddens me but most of all it embraces me when my heart is ill. I love these people for creating music which for me is a being, which can hold me and caress me and calm me down. I love Ben Gibbard for his words.
@aliceinwonderland45 hes a phenomenal composer. he composes a shit load of background music for movies. hes just really great at spewing out good songs like nobody's buisness
I think his words are so carefully chosen. This is as beautiful and simply as song writing gets and I have no thing but admiration for Ben. What a beautiful human being.
dear ZOMG i do think they changed a bit but i dont think you can blame it all on "fame" and such. You said your self that it was LONG time ago, so they could havechanged on there own, the same way a mainstream band that started mainstream ..could also change.
i don't really like the new album. i've been a death cab fan ever since i was in 5th grade. im a sophmore in highschool now and i've seen a significant change in death cab. more for the worse rather than the better. they used to be so chill and laid back. with lyrics that took my breath away. but now with all this so-called "fame", the venues have gotten bigger, the money is rolling in, and its just not the same death cab i used to love so much..
nahh, narrow stairs definitely is different. Especially the lyrics, they are a lot more straight forward than previous albums which were more poetic. It's a good album nonetheless, just different.
that's just odd, cause to me this is the best song they ever made. I must have played it 15 times back to back, this song had such a powerful effect on me.
