sounds like the byrds.....noting wrong with that. but where did the back from rio studio recordings go that use to be on youtube? dont tell me those busy body youtube police are being small agian!!!!!!
@GreyCampbell You could make a case that Gene Clark was every bit as much the Byrds...Their first two albums were as close to perfect as two albums get, and Clark's exceptional songwriting was a major part of that. Although they still made a lot of great music, they were never as great again after Clark's loss. They were still capable of writing great songs, but each of their albums after that still had about half great songs and half uninspired filler. And I'm as big a Byrds fan as anyone.
@neohip well, kudos to Roger and Tom (I can barely tell the difference between the two in that wonderful version myself). So, honestly in my humble opinion, thank you Roger for the song, thank you very much Roger for doing a FANTASTIC version with Tom!
@neohip As far as their voices sounding similar—McGuinn tells a great story about the first time he heard "American Girl" on the radio, and was so struck by the similarity in their voices that he actually thought it was an old Byrds record...He laughingly said he thought he was losing his mind because he could not, for the life of him, remember recording it.
Thank you for this video. I have been looking a long time for this one. I recorded it when he was on Johnny's on VSH, but you know how that goes, wore it out before DVD came along.

Awesome. To Richintalent, get a Variax! There is a perfect model of Rogers axe, right down to the year of Byrds fame.

I've always loved this song, and bought the album on release.
I still play it,but this song was originally a duet with Tom Petty (who I also love) and for the life of me,I can't figure out who is singing what!.

Yes,a great story!.
But I guess I don't really care anymore.As a fan of both, it is a win-win!
I can imagine Roger doing the whole thing,or Tom,the end result is still the same; a classic!.
