i believe you can change things many ways, chaos (ex. riots) is just one. if chaos turns out to be one of those ways, than so be it, because it's important. people are afraid to do anything, though. either that, or they don't care enough. they don't care enough to be afraid. and i find that sad.

I think i just meant that in terms of standing up for yourself or taking a stand on something, you shouldn't be swayed by the fear of others judging you for it. There should definitely be moderation and respect, i agree, but there's also always going to be people that get offended, and as long as the original intention wasn't to offend people, then i think you're good.
as for changing things through chaos ("as they did in the old way") well...people are afraid to do that nowadays simply because causing chaos inspires fear. Then again, promoting peace is also strange as well, so people are in a state of limbo where they don't know what to do.
I think people do need to speak up and defend themselves, yes, but there needs to be moderation and respect for others

Well, if you have an issue with the people not saying hello or holding a conversation around here or in general, move south. They are REALLY friendly there. They'll stop their cars to talk to you and it won't be creepy at all to them. Being friendly is natural. I agree. things are rushed in the north and people are not friendly, but i would not call it apathetic.
Apathy is the loss of feeling towards everything. I think there is feeling, just nothing positive.
