Hi! I love your samples and your playing is amazing! I will be like that someday...
I was wondering if you could help me out with my violin. It's a G. & A. Klemm (it doesn't say the year) from Markneukirchen (Germany). The problem is that it's starting to crack and I don't know if it is worth fixing it or should I buy a new one? (tight budget :( ) Please help me with this one it would partially solve my existential doubts lol.

I was just wondering if you have ever come across this violin maker?
I rescued my violin from being burned up, the music store in my hometown was being shut down. It's a wonderful instrument with the most beautiful sound :) I am so happy I found it. It's worth 40 000 swedish crowns, which is about 4900 dollars. So I made a really good profit on that one haha!
@JaLjubljuVlad -- yes, i've heard of e reinhold schmidt. i've played on a couple of schmidt violins. they're a nice instrument from the early 20th century and definately worth preserving.
@magnivoro2 -- these violins are part of a major violin collection that is part of the estate of a former professional violinist. my brother and i were asked to help catalog the collection by recording a short sound sample on each violin. we've done over 200 videos so far and there are many more violins to go.
truly amazing...wow...ur posts are just so awesome--

i know of Stopka...my friend plays on a violin made by a Polish maker...and she wants to have Stopka make her a violin someday (when she can afford him).
I tried one of his but it was a 2006 and it didnt do much for me, but it may have been one of his cheaper ones, but I was also playing with a 1910 swedish one that had been aaged and sounded great, haha
I think if you played the same piece on the different violins it would give me a better idea of the sound of each. For instance this violin(the amati copy) sounds richer than the Gliga-but since your playing a different piece I'm not sure it has to do with the violin or the range of the piece
And no matter what I say, I'm sure I'll get slaughtered by others for my last comment, but I do still believe you are a fantastic player, no matter how or when you've been taught. It's inpsiration for other non-prodigies, that you don't need the early gifts to become a great player. Kepp playing! :)
Thanks for the compliment! I take lessons--bogstandards, once a week--but I don't think that money can buy you good playing skills. From what I know, all teachers do the same things...scales, arpeggios, etude books, pieces...then more scales, more arpeggios, more etudes, harder pieces. They say 'do this'...'do that'...'practice 3 hours a day'. Violin students either do what they're told and improve or they don't. To me, it's time, patience, practice and more practice.
Very good point! And thank you for taking my comment well, sorry if I sounded rude, I just hate it when rich, unenthusiastic kids are given expensive tutelage, forced by their parents, when poorer people with real passion can't get the opportunity, yet they'd make better players! I generally practice an hour a day, I'd love to do more, but it doesn't always work out!
How come you own all these expensive violins? Are the videos some sort of advertisement, for selling them?
Fantastic playing though, breathtaking, only thing that worries me is the possibility that this playing comes from expensive lessons (suggested by ownership of expensive violins), whereas others like me can only afford the more 'bogstandard' lessons, something about the arts that angers me
These violins belonged to one of the finest violinists and one of the finest people I've ever met, and I'm helping their family placing these violins. They were collected over a lifetime. It was their belief that you don't own fine violins, your just entrusted with them for your lifetime.
Hehe, sounds like a sound belief to me! The violin has such a... such a voice that it's like a being, and it just serves you for your lifetime before someone else. Very loyal they are too!
VERY GOOD SOUND!!!!

@TheDarkesT44 - i've played on over 100 antique violins, and they each have their own personality...this one was a real powerhouse....

This is the song that made me want to play the violin, I hears someone playing it outside, and fell in love.

You play really good and that violin has a great sound, but you should eat more, because your left hand fingers are thin.

thanks so much...i do have small hands...but i was only 13 when i did this video :D

I am 13 years old now. But i don't have small fingers. But don't mind. The result is what people should care about.

yes, i agree :D

Have you gotten your violin authenticated? The F holes look too long to be amatese: everything seems to reflect a more Guarneri pattern.

hi. it's the vitali ciaconna. it's a pretty piece that i worked on about 2 years ago but hadn't played in awhile...it's could be better :D

any one can explain what is Amati violin because two days ago I bought cd called Amati violin, but the cd is chamber music.
anubis1405 3 years ago
amati was an early violin maker...very revered. many violins are copied after the amati violins and the name is used by groups, quartets, etc. :D
eboyinc 3 years ago
Not only that, but Amati was the teacher for Stradivarius.
