  • Georgie...class the Flamingo Club 1964.

  • The great Georgie Fame. Anyone else notice the "stage hands" were wearing white coats? How things have changed.

  • He's got so strong voice that it's forcing the mic to pull off

  • I would shoot the guy who set up that mic stand

  • 2 people don't like to walk their dogs! This is just a brilliant performance....are you kidding me??

  • I was at this show. Thank you for posting.

  • AWESOME! thank you!

    whoooooaaaaaaahhhhh!

  • I'm very impressed. It's amazing how these white guys had such an appreciation for black music. Often artists like The Yardbirds, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and others are criticized by african-americans for "stealing' our music. The reality of it is had it not been for these british bands, the blues would probably not have become the worldwide phenomenon that it became. So I, for one, am thankful for these guys.

  • I had no idea Richard Harris had an early career introducing English bands.

  • Saville is disturbing as always- the audience seemed not too pleased to see him (did I hear booing?). Georgie F could have done with some help with that mic stand.

  • Georgie Fame,Graham Bond and the Peddlers are my faves.White hot British soul at it's best !!!!!!!

  • problems with a microphone :D

  • 'ows about that, then

    guys an' gals

    as it happens

    eur-eur-eur-eur-eur-eur

    as u can imagine

    utter genius

    eur-eur-eur-eur-eur-eur

  • Georgie Fame was (is) a great performer and always had a fantastic band. Amazing how many really great players passed through the ranks - like John Mayall, Graham Bond and Alexis Korner - he was was of the London band leaders that held a solid working band together for very many years and provided a training ground for so many musicians.

A shame he wasn't more of a song writer - he'd be much better known & probably a lot richer!

  • No way he makes it. Put yourself in his shoes!

  • The guy with blonde hair announcing the acts is awful.

  • The guy with the blond hair is no other than

Jimmy Savile OBE KCSG only one of our greatest disk jockeys famed for" jim i'll fix it" and of course TOTP.

  • Grrreat! The 60's festival sound is so much better than today. Proves you really don't need a big PA when the band has a good sound

  • so right; been thinking that from the very moment started watching these clips

  • Was that a young Reebop on percussion?

  • Someone help the man with his microphone, for God's sake!

  • diggin' georgie...

but i can't find his great version of "parchment farm".

i saw it on you tube but can't find it now....sigh!

  • @jonrickly Try looking for "Parchman farm"

  • @aleccullen

    still no luck....but thanks.

  • @aleccullen

i can't find that anywhere he was so badass in that song

  • Georgie Fame ......just brilliant !! Clever blend of jazz /blues and pop . Love it!!!

  • He is just too cool for me ! Go on

    Clive, sing it !

    xx

  • Honestly Clive must have been a dog in his last life, it's just not possible to bark so well without actually being a dog!

  • I see I'm not the only one who thinks Jimmy Saville is a twit!

  • Stay put microphone!!!

  • OMG! The MC is Jimmy Saville.

  • I know, and he doesn't get any better with time, does he? Git

  • .. and three guesses what "M.C." stands for!

  • help... oh man!

  • its a shame no footage, at least that I'm aware of, exists of the Who at the NME Show in 1966 -

  • What an incredible live band... If only mainstream music was still like that today

  • Pity about Jimmy Saville. He was cheezy in the 60s. Guess what? He's still cheezy.

  • See how Mr.Fame maintains his composure with the mic? Artists today would throw their toys out of the pram!

  • Mr Clive is a bad mfer.

  • One of my favorites on you-tube.

  • Song starts at 1:05

  • Bill Eyden was an excellent drummer!

  • Soooooooo cool !!!

Love the way Georgie copes with the runaway microphone :-D

  • In 1962, I was an avide blues fan. Up til then I'd beleived that any Brit trying to sing the blues was by definition doing a Pat Boone. Then I read an article about Georgie Fame in the New Record Mirror. With some friends I hitched to London and saw him at the Flamingo club.

I was totally knocked out - here was a British band and singer singing real authentic wonderful blues. Great memories - thanks for posting this vid.

  • I envy your experience. Treasure it.

  • My band supported these guys a couple of times. Just Great!!!!!!!!!

  • Georgie is the shit!!

  • Great track, love Georgie

    MODS!

  • I agree Bro.....
