  • Pure Prose beautiful melody

  • @xavierdlt Thank you very much. You're very welcome.

  • @xavierdlt God Bless you, my friend... He is in Paradise now. And is now singing it for crowds and crowds of Angels...

  • what a gorgeously sad song, breaks yer heart is lovely

  • i wish there was an instrumental/karaoke version of this

  • Great song! Two friends of mine did it on Youtube.."Goodbye, tribute to Elton John, Cousin"-Not bad. Give them your opinion, I'm sure they'd love the feedback!

  • Im sorry I took your time!

  • Man, this song is painful.

  • Love this. I don't know if this posted before or not. I also thought this was about Christ -- "wine will flow into the land and feed my lambs" --- all I know is it broke my heart when I was twelve, and every other time I hear it.

  • This breaks my heart everytime I hear this, and I first heard it when I was 12 years old. I cried then.

  • goes for my heart..since the 70s so deep

  • my love...

  • Always made/makes me cry

    Favorite album of mine

  • one of my very favourite EJ songs. Interesting where the line "I'm sorry I took your time I am the poem that doesn't rhyme, just turn back a page, I'll waste away" comes from - a killer named William Milligan who suffered multiple personality disorder.

  • @ncf1

I don't think so. This album was released in 1971, and Milligan was arrested for the first time in 1975. Hence, nobody had known anything about him until 1975.

  • One of my favorite songs of him

  • got this album when it came out. loved elton john then. learned all his songs. i was about 11 or 12. haven't heard this stuff in a very long time. lost all my albums in katrina.

  • Got this album when it came out. Loved it learned everything on it. I was about 11 or 12. I haven't heard this stuff in a long time. Lost all albums in katrina.

  • @redlipstickmafia I lost most of my albums in Katrina, too. It made me sick, really, but Madman Across the Water and a Jimi Hendrix album came out unscathed.

  • I have loved this song for so many years

  • I'm not really a fan but this song is beautiful.

  • I remember when I first heard this song. I bought this album about five years ago and was playing it on my portable CD player while I was out taking a walk. This song stopped me dead in my tracks when it got to "I'll waste away." over and over again. I was just stunned by the very beauty of it all. Thank you for uploading this. Elton from 1969 to 71 is my favorite period for him.

  • Just turn back the page, I'll waste away....

  • Have loved this song since I was 13. I saw Elton on my 21st birthday. It was great, thanks for a great Red Rocks show Elton.

  • Wicked nice how Bernie's sad lyric connects with EJ's preference for minor keys. Dark...

...but not depressing. Like 'Harmony' at the conclusion of GYBR. Cheers!

  • Breath-taking, One of my favorite songs of all time.

  • damn drugs....never stops taking....

  • i hate missing you

  • leave me alone

  • Thank you for uploading this album, but this song in particular. This is one of my all time Elton songs.

  • This song is so poetic. I love the metaphorical lines, though I'm not sure of the meaning of the song overall lol.

  • i hear ya. a little of this a little of christianity and a little of that. a hodgepodge if u will..

  • The relationship is over

    But the drug addiction remains

This song is from Reginald's cocaine period.

  • @Elidoransgar No it isn't, this is from several years BEFORE the cocaine started.

  • not a well-known elton song but it is my favorite!!

  • I am the poem that doesn't rhyme too

  • this is so beautiful...thanx
