  • Harper shows courage by having that vote? I think not. The fact is it was a token gesture to try and get support from the far right in Canada. Same sex marriage is already legal, the supreme courts have shown that it MUST be a law and parliament has voted and agreed. Second of all the vote was whether or not the debate should be revisited. Harper did not have the balls to say the vote should be on if the law should be overturned, instead he plays a semantic game to dance around the issue.

  • Far Right you say. You do remember a few years ago when the Liberano's voted in favour of not changing the the law. Because this is to some people the most important issue going. Never mind Oh rape and murder in africa and a bunch of animals who want all of western civilization DEAD. I don't think Osama and the boys are to big on homosexuals. Just a thought.

  • Harper wanted to have a free vote, not a whipped vote. A free vote shows the true beliefs of the MPs because each member votes according to his or her convictions, which i believe is the basis of a democracy. Gerard Kennedy states that Harper has no convictions or courage because he does not say what he will do in the event of either outcome. In reality, Harper is taking the decision out of a few party leaders hands and placing it with every MP. How does this not show courage?
