A pointless test, are people SO gullible to buy any product a seller states is good and will give millions of BHP extra? The boy racer market are the most easily conned, they provide the income for a multimillion pound industry. Once you fleece one lot, another load comes along. All young, don't have a clue how engines work, all able to pay for extras but not a decent car. Always con them with air filters, then exhausts - they buy anything!!!! Quite cruel really to do it, but it's money!
I've been in the insulation industry for over 16 years, both products are crap considering rockwool was invented like 100 years ago and the binding structure holding the fibers together is food starch (glue), and ceramic fiber materials suck under vibration. Moreover, both products pose health issues given the small fiber diameters aka asbestos. Heat is always an issue, especially when using composite sleeves, but no thanks to either option in this case.

Wat this video shows is the ceramic will last much longer than the wool, it has nothing to do with which 1 sounds better. But if u r concerned; if ur exhaust was the wool packing 1, then once the wool was all burned out and stopped absorbing sound ur car would sound like shit.
FRAUD, the rockwool wasn't packed nearly as tight as the ceramic. and in the end the rockwool never completely heated up to the outside like the ceramic causing the metal to eventually rust and burn out on your exhaust. whoever made this is a complete idiot.
@clive573 I agree! This does nothing for me in buying exhaust! If my EGT gets this high at the muffler I am in trouble. THe rockwool didn't heat up entirely to the metal! The ceramic sure did and is going to cause a break down in the metal regardless of what type and it rust!
deph11s has got it right, turbos can make their header pipes glow, and often the downpipe but there is no way it would get to the temp of that torch even after hours of running. mufflers and the pipes that feed them get outside cooling, period
Exactly what does this test determine? That you shouldn't torch rockwool, but you can light up ceramic all you want? Even if the rockwool burned off as much, wouldn't that make it the better sounding muffler in the end? People are always trying to burn through their fiberglass packing material...
Show me any exhaust system that allows air in or one that has nothing but air passing through which will aid combustion. This test is a total waste of time as no exhaust gases were present. It has no relation to how the material will act in a silencer used on a car and I think everyone knows this is a MISLEADING TEST FOR MARKETING PURPOSES. IT IS MISLEADING.
@bzster- This video is mearly showing that ceramic can withstand higher heats then rockwool. I like your V8tv video, it proves that magnaflow mufflers are better then flowmaster.
@sgh091 because Flowmaster flows like shit with all the baffles blocking the exhaust path, Magnaflow is straight through so nothing blocking, besides that the slower moving exhaust hits the packing so it takes years to fully burn out, besides that most Flowmasters are steel which rusts from the inside and out, Magnaflows are stainless, and Magnaflows have lifetime warranty and Flowmasters don't, so at any rate i'd pick Magnaflow over Flowmaster but there's a lot more out there than those two
umm it depends. Like, example in some vehicles having racing exhaust pipe, if your racing muffler looses it's wool, I can tell that the sound is insane. Atleast in some vehicles.
Learn about engines, it is called DPF. It only increases temperature IF the car is not driven on a long/fast run every few weeks. If it is used around town a few miles each day the DPF fills up and regeneration starts. Exhausts carry exhaust fumes, not oxygen, so this can not be compared to a DPF regen cycle of a modern engine. I wish people would LEARN ABOUT ENGINES, stop being conned by clever marketing aimed at those who are gullible and will part with their money too easily.
lol umm the gasses coming out of your engine get pretty hot. I had a 92 f150 and one time i was out ragging on it pretty hard and stopped and my exhaust from the manifold to the tip was glowing orange. trust me they do get hot especially if you have a high flow or gutted cat or testpipe.
ONLY in this test which is completely unrelated to how the material would work in a sealed enclosure with exhaust gases. It's yet another misleading marketing ploy, like the ones for crude tuning box devices and cotton/mesh assemblies that don't filter. Maybe also as bad as the other snake-oil products about, SLICK50 comes to mind, fuel additives, oil additives. You name it, some idiot will buy it and then claim it works as they feel stupid for being conned. LEARN ABOUT ENGINES!!!!

Ceramica aguenta mais.
Uso ceramica nos meus fornos. Tecnologia com milhoes de anos.
Modernamente estou a estudar carbono, tambem é muito bom.

i don't like the way magnaflows sound so i really don't give a shit how long they last or what's inside. how's that?

Is it just me or was the magna flow packing already burned before they torched it ?

So basically I want a magnaflow cause eventually it will be louder :p cooool

I can tell you right now, if your EGT was hot enough to burn through Rockwool, you got bigger concerns than a fucking $100 muffler.

Actually the new diesels have a reburn cycle that can cause your exhaust system to get thi hot. Why do you think they have the goofy vented tips?

@irishhotti2 exactly! mufflers are never exposed to heat of this caliber. Ceramic is more applicable to headers...which is why mine are coated.
