Being good with Viper is like being good with Cammy, not that they're alike in fighting styles. It just requires a high level of precision and execution, plus good timing. They're rush down and mix-up games are what I love about them, and used by someone who knows that, they can be really impressive.

Yea Gief is kind of OP, against noobs and fairly skilled players alike. I mean, his health is ridiculous, lariat goes through projectiles and has huge priority/damage as well as pile driver + banishing flats. HK Diagonal is great. He's not as cheap as Sagat but Gief usually has the advantage right off the bat.

@HXCpr0n Yeah but Gief has match-ups that are like 7-3 or 6-4 and not in his favor (mainly the defensive zoning masters of the game). Gief is strong, but only up close, Like Honda. Lariat is great for fireballs and green hand is necessary to advance across the stage against certain opponents. ^_^

ya, Gief isn't too fun to play as, you either win by a mile or get your ass handed to you by someone who just knows how long his animations last. The only good thing is that the A.I. cant handle his lariat and it makes all the noobonians online just spam LB over and over. My boxer can finally whup anything less then severe mixup geifies.

been there my friend, I main akuma, and playing a gief is hard because with two pile drivers, im practically done, and as you say scrubs tend to just mas the lariat but i found that akumas demon flip kick beats the lariat, and so, only really good mix up gief can beat me, lol

This is pure truth, gief is my main and my favorite character but damn capcom gotta do something about his match ups, they are either really good or really bad. If they can make him more like abel or ryu(cause i think those are the 2 most balanced players) ill be happy.

Nope... his spinning lariats are very easy to punish with just about any character in the game, given you time it correctly. Normals also fuck it up... example being Chun or Sagat's fierce kicks.

Dude honestly, I know exactly what you are talking about, unfortunatly I'm one of those people that get angered easily and when I'm angered my skill level decreases greatley, so if a noob is annoying enough he can wind up beating me. You also have to admit Zangief is horribly overpowered.

He's not overpowered. Sounds like you need to learn how to play against him better. Backdash owns all of his grabs, and lariat is so punishable.

Sounds like you need to learn how to get the dick out your ass. You dont even know how these fights happen. Most of the time I am the aggresive one and they use the lariat and grabs to counter me. Btw what the fuck are you talking about, command grabs are faster than back dashes, the only way that would work is if i predicted his grab. If i am in his face and he grabbed, even attempting to back dash would be futile, cuz he would grab first.

that was pretty dumb of the viper player to try and focus attack zangief on the wake up. its so easy to counter them when hes waking up. viper should have backdashed focus cancelled and let gief open himself up

If you watch closely he does backdash out of the focus attack but Giefs green hand travels far enough to hit. I agree that the focus attack was dumb though ESPECIALLY on Gief with wakeup command grabs aplenty.

terrible geif, he had way to many opportunities for lp. spd. That lightning fist isn't safe if blocked. He got a couple meaty crossups but failed to connect any combos. Spamming lariat does nothing but leave your ass wide open, there's no reason for random lariats. Should have baited those ultras too instead of running head first like a crazy person.

All the "c.viper is S+" lists are nonsense imo. Viper is only S+ when the player is S+. In order to be so insane with viper, you have to perform instant carpel tunnel inducing motions. While other characters (sagat) can juggle into their ultra from just about any of their moves. Even freaking normals. Or characters (like gief) have "i'm invincible while i do this attack thats anti air, mid hitting, AND low hitting" I've been lariated out of gyro drive smashers,wasn't even mad, just astonished.
