Music and dance has been used by marginalized communities in order to speak out the oppression they have faced. I suggest you read on how art forms like break-dancing, pop/locking and hip-hop have been used by under-resourced communities as a way to express themselves. I don't understand how our music or our Calserve allies have "essentialized" or "commodified" themselves when they volunteered to express themselves through their art forms and music? Do you care to elaborate on your comments?

I absolutely agree with fireball. Don't point fingers at people if you aren't going to justify your accusations, meghanaxx.

How does this video not essentialize communities and commodify students' votes? What huge double standards, CalSERVE!
