I went there 2 days ago, the people that work at the restored center say no one comes by, and the ones that do come because of the pool but find nothing there..I smoked a joint and remembered the times we used to skate that place, it is a land mark on every skater that ever visited that pool, so with all do respect FUCK WHOEVER COVERED IT UP!!!it backfired NO ONE GOES ANYMORE THANX DUMBFUCKS!
@tom3999 When this place was built back in 1960, this was an actual swimming pool that the Yacht Club members bathed in. Once the Yacht Club was abandoned, skaters discovered that the pool happened to also be an awesome pool to skate. I've seen vids - search around here on YouTube - of professional skating events held here. Today the pool has been filled-in (too much risk of a lawsuit for the current owners) and the building has reopened as a museum and community center.
Its too bad that water sux so bad. If that was fresh water it would be the largets recreational tourist destination in the country. Im talking hotels, casinos, marinas, multi-billion dollar industry. Why the hell dont they get that water fixed up and start making this state some money?
@Sodiumreactor My thoughts, exactly. If the state (or somebody) were to invest in fixing the Salton Sea, a fortune could be made in the long run. The weather out here in the desert is hot and dry nearly year-round, the drive for San Diego or L.A. is only a few hours, and the lake is big enough to accommodate speedboats (and lots of 'em). Hopefully someday this will happen.
@slworking2 speed boats, jetskis, water skiing para sailing, hell every water sport known to man. That sea is huge compared to most lakes in cali. A fortune is waiting.
HAHA omg i went hear this last monday on the 4th haha we were ditching from school, i tried to skate it but that thing is fucking steep lol. And whats that you said the pool is gonna be filled in later????
would make a good skating area

is that really a pool, or is it accutally a constructed bowl?

Unfortunately the pool is now gone - check out my latest vid. The place is fenced off and is undergoing renovation.

Do you know if the motel down the street is still there (and still rundown) they haven't started renovating that have they?
DariusRafieyan 2 years ago
DariusRafieyan: Unfortunately, the motel was torn down in November of 2008. Only the concrete slabs remain.

@slworking2 That was my sanctuary, and the place still remains.
