  • @ Fujilar

...receiving alot from friends who has nothing but good things to say, then you should be concerned (it's widely agreed that the worst critics are your loved ones, no offense). While praises are good, they should at least come with feedbacks for the individual to go up to the next level.

Well, that's all I have to say but all the best and keep on animating! I'm sure you will be able to shine in the industry one day ;-)

  • @ Fujilar

most of us don't started out as experts or aces in our field. Gradually, as you get feedbacks and move beyond the comfort zone of your "first work success" feeling, you will be able to come out with beautiful things you never thought you can be capable of.

As for critiques, always keep an open eye for the good ones and stay humble. Even untactful comments can provide the feedback you needed though I don't encourage pple to be untactful. But also do pay attention to praises. If you..

  • @ Fujilar

the countless hours, the blood and sweat, you have spend on this YOG presentation is commendable. Through those months of production, I hope you guys are able to learn & gain more than you'd before, When you are willing to invest the effort and go the extra mile, anything is possible.

I assume this is the first major project you and your teammates have produced so let this experience be a stepping stone. I do agree with the comments it need further improvement nevertheless, but.....

  • anyways good job y'all =) learn to take criticisms, filter out the bad and keep the good. Lack of sleep and all that are all part and parcel of things. The world is harsh and critical, especially on the internet where its all opaque and no one knows who you are, buts its also the best place to get honest comments. Take it in your stride and work on it! --"Tim Gunn: I've made more bad decisions at 3 in the morning then I can list!" Sleep is the key!

  • @fujilar hey fuji, critiques r given cause they are meant to criticise your work, they do not necessarily help you bcuz this is U-TUBE.If you want help, go to cgsociety or ordix, and people will be really nice and actually give good commentary. Youtube people are the general audience who know nothing of 3d or the hard work it takes. Some times they just to throw shit at you and watch you squirm. But if people are saying its bad, then take it as "room for improvment". Don't be bent on revenge.

  • The local CG film mentioned earlier was actually done by 7 artists. As an artist, I salute them. But every audience paid the same price whether or not the film is good or bad. They will not care about the reasons contributed to the bad film. An opinion will be concluded whether you like it or not. And the film has been brought to international film market. Again, impressive on our industry will be concluded. This is not something we can control. But it is the sad truth about the industry.

  • i thought it was a really good job well done! *thumbs up!*

  • Some thoughts about the industry. Hope not to offend anyone. Many comments here meant well and I believe they are from those working in the industry. So don't take it too personal.

The unfortunate news about the industry is that audience show no mercy. Irregardless whatever your reason is. Not enough budget, not enough time, etc. When you graduate, employer will show no mercy to bad showreel. Whether it is student work or not does not matter. Its a question of whether the artist can deliver.

  • I like the design and lightings very much. I am sure given more time, the animation and water effects can be better.

  • You did great, considering the school load you had and everything.

Honestly I got moved by the end of the clip because everybody got so into it and roared at the sight of their school. It was awesome. So in storytelling... you score! Even though is totally related to NYP only!

There is always room for improvement and I am sure everybody is aware of that!

The industry is tough and I don't think that people who pointed out at the problems and mistakes even have a clue about it!

  • I like the overall look of the render! Animation was abit lacking though.

  • The animation needs more polish but I do understand about time constraints. Well done nevertheless guys and gals!

  • Nice! Great to be part of SIDM! :D All the best! :D

  • Fantastic ! 10!

  • animation needs a lot of improvement

  • what a fantastic video...I am so proud to be an ex NYPians

  • well done :)

A lot better than most of the CG YOG commerials in SG.

    Be sure to improve

  • nice

  • NYP ROCKS!!!!!!! I AM PROUD TO BE A STUDENT OF NYP. I AM PROUD TO BE PART OF THE YOG.

  • i know wat i commented earlier may seem harsh but its a valid weakness. n i m saying it in gd spirit. no offence intended. i personally would love to see a much better animated version of this if its possible...its such a waste that the cutesy design n lighting is ruined by the sub par animation for the moment.

  • i m only giving credit where credit is due.perhaps like fujilar said..time is limited that explains the animation but it does not change the fact that the animation is weak. showing to PM does not mean its gd. like the first 3g movie zodiac done in sg a while back n shown in cinemas n national papers doesnt mean its gd.

wats gd then? i think its safe to say when u have fellow animation professional peers who know their craft acknowledge that its gd then it truly means something

  • @judassy they are just students for godsake.

  • Good job and well done... you guys do deserve this comments base on the fact that you have Sch module and any other extra things on hand.

I do hope you guy improve on it as what was mention earlier on... :)

but I also hope u all can understand that if u wanna work in this industry, u must be able to accept critics from almost anybody... being defensive over it is not a way to learn and improve... if one could comment on another mistake and actually point them out, it mean sth... :)

  • Lets all accept all Critics, be it harsh or nice.

At the end of the day we are all learning.

I THANK all who critic =)

  • If you can produce better animation than this with the amount of time that was given and it will be shown to international viewers, then you have the right to give bad critics. If not, zip it up!

  • @toxicgurl i'm sorry girl, no one actually cares how much time you have or how many thing you have to redo your shots. Have you ever 10 dollars a film and after 3hours in the cinema you felt you wasted a good 3hours of your life, and you lamented the loss of your $10.. Then do you think, oh, maybe they had very little time to do it..? No! =)

  • agree with Judassy.

  • Nice job guys/girls from NYP good job.

  • overall design n rendering is not too bad. but the animation is VERY weak...poor timing...lots of weight issues. may be gd as a student project..but not gd enough to be shown as an international event opener such as the YOG

  • @fujilar just take the criticisms =) nobody cares to know how much sleep you lost, really. Its the end product the world sees and only that matters. Do a better job next time =)

  • @judassy WOW! then Whats ur example of a good animation for YOG thus far?

  • @judassy dude show us your work! I want to see where your statement comes from! ;)

No need to be harsh... I just want to say that constructive critics are brought forth in a different way.

  • impressive work from the students!

  • This is bad .
