for road hazard in PA we use the feet. In my opinion it works better, because the rider behind you can see your feet move out faster than your hand & #2 you don't have to take a hand off the handle bar in case there is more than 1 hazard. Use ur right foot if it's coming up on ur right & use ur left foot if it's coming up on ur left. Use a head tap if its a cop or a deer in the middle of the road or something that requires "heads-up."
