  • I remember Jimmy Logsdon as being a great disk jockey at WCKY in Cincinnati Ohio.

He played records on the jamboree back when Bluegrass and Country music was not as separated as it is now. Country music was real back then to my opinion. Thank goodness we still have Bluegrass today and I hope it don't get diluted the way Country did.

  • My Father was Jimmy Logsdon. I believe when I was young that my Dad took me to your Mom's truck stop. That had to be back in the 50's.

  • @marylee246 My name is Thomas Ward, and I would love to hear more about your

Dad, I love his singing, he sounds a lot like Hank Williams. I know he went to

Jimmy Lloyd for awhile when rock a billly started up. But I would truly enjoy a

CD by Jimmy Lloyd. Great of you to come forth on the internet. My email is ThomasWard04@aol.com. Contact me if you don't mind me asking about your

    Dad. Thanks Thomas Ward

  • The lyrics for this song were written by Lee Mings, a truckstop owner from Louisville, KY. Jimmie came to the truckstop one day and sat in the kitchen with Lee as she shared these lyrics with him and Jimmie started humming a tune. I know this story because Lee Mings was my mom! She also co-wrote "Beginning of the End" with Jimmie, and her picture (with my Dad) is in the liner of Jimmie's "I Got a Rocket In My Pocket" cd.

  • Jimmie recorded this song in his fiddle player Lonnie Peerece's bedroom. They wanted a latin sound, so Lonnie put some rice in a baby bottle warmer ro obtain the sound you hear on the record. Honest! I have more Jimmie Logsdon songs on my web site, Gary's Country. URL in profile.

  • What a great story! He recorded some really good songs!

  • Giddy Giddy Giddy! Worked with Jimmy at WZIP-1050 in the late 60's...A true talent. Former host of the old Jamboree of WCKY in the early 60's.
