  • Is this thing built with a reversal airfoil? ...Lemme see...umm.. Is the 'natural stability' of the a/c configured only for low flight; flight within ground effect?

  • ...stupid craft made rule 3 longer

  • Why not just call it an airplane and fly it high? It looks like the throttled down during the jump test, he probably could have stayed up.

  • It seems underpowered. But I love it!

  • great engineering fellas

  • whats the difference between this an a hover craft?

  • I love these.

  • sounded like hell at the and!

  • what the hell is the point ??

  • this looks like a pretty good design!

  • Looks like a seaplane, sounds like a seaplane, flys like a seaplane..what's the big deal?

  • it is a wing on ground / water as WOGW,,,

    not wig,,,

  • Wing In Ground Effect - WIG(E)

  • Is this firm still existing? If so I would like to get in contact with them....

  • crafts like these "need" to ride on its own air cushion thats where they get their efficiency

they are registered as boats not as aircraft/aeroplanes as most would think

throwing a bigger/powerful engine would be pointless more weight more fuel consumption

these competes with high speed boats not aeroplanes

don't confuse an apple to an orange

  • Is it a plane? Is it a bird?

No, it is the Flying Ship WIG Craft!!

  • SuperShip would've sound so much better XD

  • hbunnie, I think the overall design is to take atvantage of the ground effect not to gain altitude. IMHO

  • Little biger motor and you might get some more altitude... LoL

  • I have yet to see one w/ a turbine motor. Now that would be cool!!!

  • This unit is "ekranoplan" it' isn't ship, and is't plane. it use cavitation energy. First of it was made in 70th in the USSR called Orlenok and Lun. That's a poor copy of it.

  • It uses cavitation energy eh? Explain that one to me....

Cavitation does not apply here.. Not at all. The point is that it doesn't touch the water.

  • I think he might be talking about the "ground effect" not sure though.

  • @aktovegin wrong the russian took the plans from the defeted germany , they have too many experimental proyects for aircrafts, u.s.a. experiment some of those aircrafts too, but abandon the prject, after so many failures.

  • @XdavidX1197 A don't want to discuss it. Russian conception of ekranoplan is very differ than european. We use a water wings.

  • i want one

  • what licence is required to ride this? A Pilot License, perhaps?

  • Ekranoplan are considered boats.

  • AWESOME!! Where can I buy plans for one of these?

  • um sick!

  • He can haul ass through the "NO WAKE" zones.

  • which country made it? russia?

  • its great

  • Don't you lose the advantage of minimised induced drag if you fly more than half the wingspan above the water?

  • No I think the ground effect from the water lets them go quite a bit higher, some of these craft I believe can hop 20 foot waves but not suggested haha

  • Yes. The only way they can 'hop' is to build up speed in ground effect, and then temporarily leave it to hop over an obstacle.

  • seems like it can just fly like a real plane. do you have to be a private pilot? with a 3rd medical?

  • Ar the ailerons used for roll or just for increasing and decreasing lift?

  • roll mainly, can be used for + and - lift aswell

  • this is a airplane!!

    isn't a ship!!!

    have wings, a propeller, tail...

  • cant fly more than ten feet above above water...

  • likes than a hoverwing...

  • it has many names, though.

  • this can fly more than 30 meters, but recommend to fly below in ordinary operation

  • yes indeed.

it doesn't really matter that much how this is called... how this can be useful might be... ^^

  • it is in what is called a ground effect, watch birds as they skim above water just a few inches high.Next big break thru in transportation.

  • indeed and thanks!

  • how does it perform in high winds, rough seas, and large waves?

  • it depends on the sea condition. for this type, the take-off wave-height is up to 1.2 meter and wind under 12 m/s. at cruise mode, it can fly over the wave-height of 2.5 meter, but we recommend to avoid those rough conditions. safe comes first!!!

  • Question is how much and where do I get one?

  • for 5~6 passenger class, the buying would be at around 600k with standard option. if you are interested and need more info, drop me a line. thanks.

  • @talspacewigcraft For 600k you can have a pretty darned nice seaplane or amphibian that'll take 6 passengers.

  • how is it able to maintain that altitude so well?

  • A decent pilot and ground effect, watch airplanes land and skim for a while before touching down.

  • it has its own natural stability at low altitude with simple controlling factor. engine pitch. ^^

  • @NorbPwn do some research on 'ground effect ' to understand

  • Wow, that looks great! what kind of powerplant do you have in this?

  • it depends the size and type of the craft.

send me your contact info, then, i will send you it to you

  • is a hoverwing? is a plane? is a ship?

  • it's categorised as a ship.

it's not a hoverwing. different kind.

  • O.K. Its a sea Plane. What good is over other water born aircraft?

  • Much heavier loads and less fuel consumptions than a conventional seaplane.

  • actually v manouevrable see german x114

  • those things seems not to be so manouverable, fast and power-wise... but I agree: it depends on the use you have to do with them...

  • Not bad can you make it jet powered?

  • depends on its application... what can't be possible... only if it fits its purpose with appropriate economic sense behind it. ^^

  • ok talspacewigcraft Me I would love to build one myself

  • how can we be of your service to your needs?
