Chris wasn't as quirky or humorous as Tennant or Smith, but he added plenty of darkness to the role. I do tend to think that out of the Nu Who that Matt Smith's probably the best example of what the Doctor should be...but David Tennant is just the man to me.

After an encounter with an old friend he comes home to claim his throne from his uncle who has driven the kingdom into famine. It's a coming of age tale about a boy of privilege that is forced to leave it all and survives with the help of 2 new friends. He becomes a more confident adult that is able to bring his community out of hardship.

Shakespeare took Greek plays and adapted them for his audience. Disney did the same with his work. It's not written in Elizabethan English, and there's songs, but it's a beloved movie AND broadway show for a reason. It's intended for kids, but that's not all who enjoy and find meaning in it

Tennant plays a more human Doctor who gets along with people and understands and knows more than he lets on, Matt plays a more alien doctor who finds it difficult to fit in with humans and can sometimes be clumsy but when he's serious he is REALLY serious.
