Hi Came across this clip.. I have gone too many drumming for the orisa, with black and spanish. Wich im not either one. It it seems that the black community in the religion have a hard time comming down w/ there orisa. like i have said i been to many functions here in miami & nyc and only seen one young black olo osun come down with her. The spanish communtiy dont have a problem with this. Either your a horse or not. Just asking As a olo Oya (white male priest)
GREAT ARGUMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we are all unique in our ways, so why would anyone say one religion is the absolute way/route to experience spirituality or experience the "higher energy" ?
Don't know much about the African process, but here in the staes it was "Kill the savage, save the soul". If you wanted to get the crap beat out of you, practice your religion. They probabily used borading schools over there in Africa also. Here it worked like - you are a 5 or 6 year old playing with you sibs around the house. The Black coats, priests or law came and took you away.
Didn't have to tell your parents, just kidnapped you. Took you to a boarding school, burned your clothes, cut your hair and beat you if you used your language. With held food, water until you behaved. It was terrible and painful and was done to indigenous people here up until our parents generation.
Out of all the videos I have seen on you tube regarding black folk and religion, I have to say that this by far is the most intelligent and profound...thank you for recognizing there is more than one way for a person to be spiritual.
its a version. the real is the thing! all angels are male. check dem bible! ancestors are both male and female. we are caretakers of the earth. what are christians and muslims caretakers of? money or their church and mosque. we are stunted by religion. spirituality is real for us real (original)people.
That was awsome, as you know my introduction ATR's was not very good. I've been struggling with it ever since. Feeling that the power issue with ATR's is the same as in all religions. But you and another book I've been reading have help me to see it in a different way.
Speak on it!!

Check out the movie "Rabbit Proof Fence" to see how it was often done. It's an Austrailian flick, but it tells all our stories.
