  • I love pornography, stop trying to take my freedoms away. If you don't want to look at dirty magazines, don't. Its your choice not to, but don't force your views on me.

  • if women dont want to marry and start famillies anymore then sexualisation is going to rise . Feminism is an all out war on the male hormone Tostesterone . Nothing more . We have a situation in this society where men are attacked and demonised on every damn level . They turn their noses up at most decent men that make up about 80% of the population . Men now take salvage in porn , dirty mags, football and computer games. Congrats feminists

  • @HateGrind - I want to say personaly i hate porn and female objectification . but this society has been moulded that way by the social advancement of feminism over the last 50 years. Even going out is disgusting . Why do young women feel the need to dress like utter tarts? . As a man i find it off putting . it would be nice to look at a woman and think it would be nice to take her out for lunch rather than shag her . But this is our fine british culture now unfortunatly , The gentleman is dead

  • @HateGrind

Porn has existed for thousands of years, as a concept it's not really objectionable. Porn industry at current is another thing entirely, it is to sex what McDonald's is to food - it'll get the job done, but it's still shit. But when you stop to think about it, the porn industry is bad to women for much the same reasons and in much the same ways as pretty much EVERY industry is so if you take issue with one you take issue with them all (I do).

  • @HateGrind

As for the latter statement, that's really a more complex issue. It's a fine line between self esteem issues and genuine self expression. Change the thought process behind the dress style, not the style itself. The real problem is that people make such a huge deal about women who do wear revealing clothing and give them attention, meaning instead of people dressing in a way because they think they look nice, they do it to avoid disapproval or to seek approval of total strangers.

  • @HateGrind

Also, and I know I'm taking far too much issue with this, but I would like to stress that this isn't a recent development. In the Victorian century, where women did only want to marry and start families, there was a brothel on LITERALLY every corner visited routinely by their husbands.

Also, there's a significant difference between a woman's sexuality and a woman (or indeed a man's/man!) being sexualized - one is something which makes you, human and the other makes you an object.

  • I agree that objectification of women is not good, but I don't believe that slapping some flyers on magazines and "Objecting" to anything that this group don't like is the way to do it. On their web site they are opposed to beauty competitions! It seems like the frustrated actions of a minority of women. Why not try to elevate the perception of women rather than try to slap attack anything that annoys you or that you perceive as dirty.

  • absolutely inspiring. any time a strange man thinks he has the right to access to my body or my attention, i fall in love with this organization all over again. wish there was a US branch.

  • I honestly don't care what these women think of me for watching porn. If you want to hate me for watching porn, then go ahead, it is your right. But if you try to take away my right to watch porn, I will continually fight against your freedom hating agendas until I win.

  • What about Cosmopolitan? It's the female version of loaded. None of you feminists complain about it.

  • @insomniajo I doubt that Cosmo is anything like Loaded. Besides, women face a daily barrage of misogyny. Do men open newspapers & find a topless man on p.3? No, we don't. That's why Object doesn't really focus it's campaigning on male objectification. For instance, in the US there are a small number of hate attacks perpetrated by gay people on straight people. Using your argument, would you think it necessary & reasonable for a anti-homophobia campaigner to talk about 'straight bashing?'

  • I work in WHSmith and if you started asking me shit like that I'd crack up. :')

And then tell you to fuck off.

  • im considered extremely attractive. I never have a problem finding women who want to spend a lot of their time on me. Im personable, and very active. But im constantly objectified by women as a sex object. I have thoughts, feelings, dreams and ambitions but i find these features are often ignored in favour of my physical qualities. Just because i possess large genitalia doesnt mean i should be defined by it.

  • What a load of shit. As a 26yr old man I dont buy "lads magazines" myself becuase I dont find them interesting but if you open any cleo or cosmo magazine you will find just as many images of good looking ripped guys with their shirts off but I dont think you could find many men who actually give a fuck. If you are going to spend your time as an activist for some social cause then find something worth while. If the government was take this lot seriously then we would be a nanny state on steroids.

  • object states on its site that "polls suggest that 63% of young women aspire to be glamour models or lap dancers".

no doubt they see this as evidence of a patriarchal society that objectifies women as sex objects.

Easier than admitting that 63% of women are preoccupied with their appearance & how best to exploit it.

Most men don't want to see women's tits everywhere anymore than feminists do...so tell that to the 63%.

  • how come object don't say anything about rupert murdochs news international objectifying & sexualising women with his porn empire?

is it because object had a write up in the sun recently & have thus sold out their principles to the highest bidder & only pick on soft targets?

  • This is so interesting and fun!

  • God, these women are such *losers*.

  • @matrix4022 Which feminists are you talking about? OBJECT is opposed to any form of objectification/commodification of women's and men's bodies. If you'd like to feel less victimised by the bigotry of 'all feminists' why not find out about the actual work of feminist groups like OBJECT?

  • @phemefilms The Chair of OBJECT is a person called Jennifer Drew. I suggest you take time to read her comments on the F Word website & then judge what kind of a person she is & what kind of a group OBJECT is.

Don't patronise ppl by suggesting that feminism is inclusive. It isn't. It prides itself on exclusion, specifically of white heterosexual males.

  • @matrix4022 Real feminists are also masculists, and as such are opposed to all objectification of human beings. Some radicals have taken it too far, to the extent that they do hate men, but this does not represent the vast majority of feminist views. This ridiculous idea that feminists are man-hating lesbians is a thinly veiled attempt to derail the movement and lessen respect for the people promoting it. If you have any ounce of intelligence you will not fall into the trap of believing it.

  • Some women are famed for their minds, others for their sporting abilities, others for their character and some for their bodies

On the other hand, men get exactly the same deal.

  • Well done!! I admire your strength in standing up for womens humanity. I'm a man and I hate lads mags, not because i dont like women but because I do! I think its shocking these mags are forced onto the top shelf with age restriction by law !

  • I think you'll find the women in these magazines aren't the ones being "berated" son, it's the culture which pushes them into making such choices, and into believing the sum of their worth lies with their bodies, which is clearly untrue.

Your message makes little sense and is merely the standard response of a misogynist droning on about something of which they know little.

  • @WLBFC Why are women so slavish in their response to this "culture" you describe? Are their minds so collectively dull that they can't stop themselves from posing naked, lap dancing, starring in porn films, etc.?

What do you mean by "pushed" exactly? Some patriarchal hidden hand that controls everything women do?

The sexual exploitation of women will only end when women REFUSE to be exploited. Unfortunately for feminists, the reality is that millions of women CHOOSE to be exploited.

  • A good introduction to OBJECT would be to visit the F Word feminist website. There you will find comments by a person called Jennifer Drew...the chair of OBJECT..the majority of her comments are wildly misandric, unintelligent, poorly expressed, grammatically appalling & above all, disturbing. Her comments betray a person who clearly has mental health issues & an overwhelming hatred of men, yet the F word publishes EVERY word she writes, because she is the TRUE bitter & twisted voice of feminism

  • as far as i understand they are not campaigning for the magazines to be banned or censored. They are asking shops to voluntary remove them and/or move them onto the top shelf.

  • The leader of this group is hot! Great personality, beautiful face and nice body, whole package

  • P.S. Well done to all at Object from West London.

  • Why don't you shut the fuck up, educate yourself about what feminism is, and start treating women as the humans they are? People like you make me sick, you utter mug.

  • @WLBFC I'm afraid that any person versed in feminist theory is bound to think less of women, not more...or rather feminists, who are not representative of the overwhelming majority of women. Feminism is not about the humanisation of women, it is about the demonisation of men AND other women who oppose their ideas. Ideas that were born out of American universities in the late 60s by Marxist lesbians.

  • Go girls!! Great to see :D

  • Maybe next time you should just quietly stick leaflets in the magazines, then your point would actually reach men.

  • Nah, the slogans wouldn't reach men that way, as anyone who buys "lads magazines" is merely a pathetic little boy.

  • Aw... warms the cockles of me heart! : )
