I remember the day Sailormoon aired on toonami. I remember it coming on and just so neutral about it. I was close to searching for the remote control but the episodes was about to end anyway so i just decided to keep it on Cartoon network since dbz was on next anyway.

@MasterNcognito adult swim was ironically started as an adult version of toonami, to take over for the toonami midnight run, so having toonami take over adult swim over again would be weird :/

Sailor Moon was the best thing that happened to Toonami, and Cartoon Network decides to cut the whole show from the schedule, then to replace it with Hamtoro. I only remember a little bit of Sailor Moon, but I've been watching it more and think that it's an awesome show. I mainly remember Hamtaro when it was on Toonami.
Toonami needs it's own channel now. They ran enough shows to warrant it and there are plenty of shows that are on the air right now that can be moved to Toonami.
NICE... those were the days on Toonami, back around 99-00. I love the promos, especially the one for the Ronin Warriors, DBZ and Sailor Moon... it made the girls seem so KICKASS, and not so girlie. Love Peter Cullen(Optimus Prime's voice) as the narrator for Toonami promos, also like that annoying lil robot guy who announced which shows were coming up next. Now Cartoon Network SUCKS ass. :(

@JayFoxFire I only have cable in half of my room, and don't even care to move my TV to that half of the room, because there's nothing on worth watching anymore. I only use my TV for gaming. Anything I feel like watching I look it up on my computer, and that usually consists of old anime shows like DBZ, or the old Cartoon Network lineup like Dexter's Lab and Powerpuff Girls. When I get my own place, I just might not even get cable.
Toonami was wonderful. It killed me that they edited out Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Uranus' relationship (they were lesbians in case anyone didn't know, and they were 'cousins' in the dub) but I'd still watch the U.S. dubbed version. If it wasn't for Adult Swim or SyFy Channel, anime wouldn't be doing so well. No, I don't count 4kids, Fox, or any of those other channels that run anime. That's watered down children stuff.
@StrawberryAshi it was a canadian company "DIC" who dubbed the Sailor Moon first dub, Funimation has since expressed interest in redoing the series. To DIC's credit however, it was a different market back then.

Most of us grew up on Speed Race, Voltron, Battle of the Planets(Gatchaman), Force Five, Tranzor Z AND Sailor Moon(I watched it when it 1st came on in '92, on Chl 25 in Boston) on regular TV. You musta JUST became an anime newbie because of Cartoon Network... which is sad and you must be real young. Anime will be popular even if it ISN'T televised in the US. Ranma 1/2 is VERY popular, and it was never on Adult Swim.
1. Not that young, you only have about 7 years on me, and I can play the "My Anime Nerdiness Is Bigger Than Yours" game some other time.
2. Did you NOT notice I mentioned other channels other than CN?
3. Before the internet the only way people could see anime(dubbed) was on few channels. CN made it mainstream by then end of its run. I know libraries that stock lots of anime and manga now.
4. And now thanks to the internet, anyone can get their hands on anime nearly anywhere.

Hell, ABC Family showed anime before that changed to Jetix and Kids WB showed Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and others . Should CN and SyFy get all the credit? No. But they did a lot of the fanbase very well by showing more anime at more times. While the other channels were stuck to showing anime on Saturdays or Mondays, CN showed anime everyday either during prime time hours or late at night. It's a shame that Toonami is gone and AS is stuck to showing anime only on Saturdays.

Toonami airing shows Like YuYuHakusho, Kenshin, DBZ, and other Shonen series also greatly participated in the rising popularity of manga. When ViZ started mainstreaming its manga here, most of the manga it shipped were those aired on Toonami. Before toonami, manga sections at your local bookstore hardly existed, if any.

Venture BROTHERS is an adult swim cartoon that is parody of the johnny quest type cartoons, and since Cartoon network owns the rights to the old school cartonos like Johnny quest, scooby doo and stuff they have those characters in there. Like Johnny is now like 40 years old strung out pill head. the main series foucses on another 40 year old guy who had the kinda johnny quest life style and his sons who are like cookie cutter sterotpyical kids from the 50s though they live in the 2000's

Actually, at 5:30 AM, Inuyasha is virtually the only Adult Swim show that only appears during the morning, near the crack of dawn. :-) But, yes, it's pretty arduous trying to wake up that early to watch it.

I just finished the Japanese version (I was nostalgia-ing hardcore lol) and /loved/ it. I loved it so much I found a (n incomplete) scanlation and realized I loved the manga more. *_* No wonder it was so popular~
I realized how painful English versions of anime were loooong before I finally saw the original. ;3 And then I found out how painful anime versions were of the original manga. XD Which I will always prefer these days~

The katakana scrolling behind the series title at the end actually says "Sailor Venus"...well the name isn't fully spelled out, so it's more like "Sailor Ven---", but still. Good job, promo people!

I only remember a little bit of Sailor Moon, but I've been watching it more and think that it's an awesome show. I mainly remember Hamtaro when it was on Toonami.

Toonami needs it's own channel now. They ran enough shows to warrant it and there are plenty of shows that are on the air right now that can be moved to Toonami.

NICE... those were the days on Toonami, back around 99-00. I love the promos, especially the one for the Ronin Warriors, DBZ and Sailor Moon... it made the girls seem so KICKASS, and not so girlie. Love Peter Cullen(Optimus Prime's voice) as the narrator for Toonami promos, also like that annoying lil robot guy who announced which shows were coming up next. Now Cartoon Network SUCKS ass. :(

@JayFoxFire I only have cable in half of my room, and don't even care to move my TV to that half of the room, because there's nothing on worth watching anymore. I only use my TV for gaming. Anything I feel like watching I look it up on my computer, and that usually consists of old anime shows like DBZ, or the old Cartoon Network lineup like Dexter's Lab and Powerpuff Girls. When I get my own place, I just might not even get cable.

Toonami was wonderful. It killed me that they edited out Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Uranus' relationship (they were lesbians in case anyone didn't know, and they were 'cousins' in the dub) but I'd still watch the U.S. dubbed version. If it wasn't for Adult Swim or SyFy Channel, anime wouldn't be doing so well. No, I don't count 4kids, Fox, or any of those other channels that run anime. That's watered down children stuff.

@StrawberryAshi it was a canadian company "DIC" who dubbed the Sailor Moon first dub, Funimation has since expressed interest in redoing the series. To DIC's credit however, it was a different market back then.

@StrawberryAshi Anime was ALWAYS popular WAY before Adult Swim EVER existed. Most of us grew up on Speed Race, Voltron, Battle of the Planets(Gatchaman), Force Five, Tranzor Z AND Sailor Moon(I watched it when it 1st came on in '92, on Chl 25 in Boston) on regular TV. You musta JUST became an anime newbie because of Cartoon Network... which is sad and you must be real young. Anime will be popular even if it ISN'T televised in the US. Ranma 1/2 is VERY popular, and it was never on Adult Swim.

1. Not that young, you only have about 7 years on me, and I can play the "My Anime Nerdiness Is Bigger Than Yours" game some other time.
2. Did you NOT notice I mentioned other channels other than CN?
3. Before the internet the only way people could see anime(dubbed) was on few channels. CN made it mainstream by then end of its run. I know libraries that stock lots of anime and manga now.
4. And now thanks to the internet, anyone can get their hands on anime nearly anywhere.

Hell, ABC Family showed anime before that changed to Jetix and Kids WB showed Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and others . Should CN and SyFy get all the credit? No. But they did a lot of the fanbase very well by showing more anime at more times. While the other channels were stuck to showing anime on Saturdays or Mondays, CN showed anime everyday either during prime time hours or late at night. It's a shame that Toonami is gone and AS is stuck to showing anime only on Saturdays.

Hello, it's called Cartoon Network. Also, lame unfunny shows like Squidbillies(which is drawn so shitty), and Family Guy(leave that show on Fox, where it belongs... all AS shows is repeats anyways). Whoever took over Cartoon Network needs to remember the true viewers. Thank goodness for forums like Anime Fuel.

@boofdfast Youre right, anime had its fans way before Toonami. But Toonami broke the ice and made anime more popular than it ever was before at that time period.
Toonami airing shows Like YuYuHakusho, Kenshin, DBZ, and other Shonen series also greatly participated in the rising popularity of manga. When ViZ started mainstreaming its manga here, most of the manga it shipped were those aired on Toonami. Before toonami, manga sections at your local bookstore hardly existed, if any.

DIC altered the original 2 seasons bc they wanted to make it OK for kids, but considering what is on other tv stations, it seemed so harmless...this country still wont dub the final sailor moon season bc the sailor starlights are guys that transform into girls...its sad that unless you buy the japanese seasons, you wont know how it was truely meant to be shown, or even completed!

Venture BROTHERS is an adult swim cartoon that is parody of the johnny quest type cartoons, and since Cartoon network owns the rights to the old school cartonos like Johnny quest, scooby doo and stuff they have those characters in there. Like Johnny is now like 40 years old strung out pill head. the main series foucses on another 40 year old guy who had the kinda johnny quest life style and his sons who are like cookie cutter sterotpyical kids from the 50s though they live in the 2000's

Actually, at 5:30 AM, Inuyasha is virtually the only Adult Swim show that only appears during the morning, near the crack of dawn. :-) But, yes, it's pretty arduous trying to wake up that early to watch it.

If some you guys haven't notice. Some of us born in the 90's almost had the same lives when toonami was around. Think about it, we all came from school watched toonami around 4:00 to 7:00 or so to see our favorite shows. We all had that same adrenaline rush from just watching the Toonami's promos.
