love me some mali music!keepin it 100! we are all fearfully and wonderfully made and a religious spirit can sometimes creep into the church but there is a shift happening cause its all about souls for Christ.
im kind of lost chritianity is its own culture the bible is direct on means of worship im all for identity but there is only one identity that can get you in the presense of God, and that is the Christ like image. So its great that we have our talents and personality but all should be in accordance to Christ standards. Yes we are all part of one body and what the hand do the feet can not, but keep in mind we are all part of ONE body.so please do not confuse or blend grace and lordship together.
This song can be very dangerous and I like Mali's music but he should be careful. Someone can look at the lyrics of this song and think it's ok to usher in all this "New age" young generations take on the lord. Then everybody wants to talk about being "religious" etc. It was never about religion but God has standards! Everything does not apply in worship & there are things that God does not mix with upon HIS WORD. With that said, with the proper interpretation of this song it can be dope.

I was at the first show of the MiSfiT concert, Understand the context of the lyrics. When he is refering to "peoples apperance, and expressions" he is refering to those who attack "DIFFERENT" types of worship to GOD. He is not saying it himself. He is basically saying it's okay to be different. Christians are peculiar people, even within our Christian culture. The song is very satirical. He doesn't advocate judging, he's saying Do what God has called YOU to do. Don't listen to what others say. If God is cool, it doesn't matter. You have a license to be You. You can't serve God in a box, he's God. Above and beyond all we can imagine. Don't put a restriction on anyone's praise!
Mali is "usually" on point with his music. However, I have to say that this one is a "hard pill to swallow":-( I agree with the "no judging" because that is GOD'S ROLE but I do believe God calls Christians to "admonish" their brothers gently if they are NOT living righteously. Also, God and "hip hop" do not belong in the same sentence. A Christian Rapper is fine if he does not live by the "hip hop" philosophy. Keep the music coming Mali~you're still in my top 5...LOL! DREDS, DRED LOCKS is a religion that Ratifiricians (sp) wear as a covenant to their god Salasci, like the nazarite vow... SO its not a form of expression, its imitation! He says "don't get us wrong we're not judging you" but the lyrics are very judgmental because how can you tell if someone's loud music is Gospel rap or not? It could be Lecrae or Tedashii. Wow! @ sirmac90, you totally missed the message. Those lyrics are very real, he is speaking the truth and someone's (maybe not yours) experience. My husband is a minister and and has dreadlocks. Although the expression used may not be true. Those are the types of comments he gets from people. In my opinion it could be recognized that he is categorized as a misfit. The lyrics are simply speaking the truth of what misfits hear on a daily basis. SMH

I was at the first show of the MiSfiT concert, Understand the context of the lyrics. When he is refering to "peoples apperance, and expressions" he is refering to those who attack "DIFFERENT" types of worship to GOD. He is not saying it himself. Hope this helps people understand the song. Mali isn't bashing at all!

He is basically saying it's okay to be different. Christians are peculiar people, even within our Christian culture. The song is very satirical. He doesn't advocate judging, he's saying Do what God has called YOU to do. Don't listen to what others say. If God is cool, it doesn't matter. You have a license to be You. You can't serve God in a box, he's God. Above and beyond all we can imagine. Don't put a restriction on anyone's praise!

Mali is "usually" on point with his music. However, I have to say that this one is a "hard pill to swallow":-( I agree with the "no judging" because that is GOD'S ROLE but I do believe God calls Christians to "admonish" their brothers gently if they are NOT living righteously. Also, God and "hip hop" do not belong in the same sentence. A Christian Rapper is fine if he does not live by the "hip hop" philosophy. Keep the music coming Mali~you're still in my top 5...LOL! I just downloaded this song off of itunes becuz I like Mali's style, but now I'm regretting it cuz I don't agree with the message of this song. DREDS, DRED LOCKS is a religion that Ratifiricians (sp) wear as a covenant to their god Salasci, like the nazarite vow... SO its not a form of expression, its imitation! And isn't the point of this song to be different? Well when we look, dress and sound like the world how is that different?

The world is always going to take things (even Biblical things) and do it to the glory of themselves. It's people who say judgemental stuff like "God and hip hop don't mix" or "you can't have dreadlocks if you're a christian". Then in the chorus, Mali's saying that people can be individuals and that's a good thing and it should be embraced.

I like Mali, but i disagree with some of the lyrics. He says "don't get us wrong we're not judging you" but the lyrics are very judgmental because how can you tell if someone's loud music is Gospel rap or not? It could be Lecrae or Tedashii. Dreads don't make or break a Christian. Idk man...love his music but this one was an EXTREMELY RARE miss.

At the beginning of the song he is saying thing that judgmental people usually say but during the chorus he encourages us to listen to the voice of the LORD and not the people talking to us saying nothing at all.
