@FLICKtheUSA, a 33 year old pampered child who's only friend is his computer. His need to get a rise out of faceless people on the Internet is apparently his only joy in life. How sad.
@FLICKtheUSA Yea, I thought that would get a rise out of you. You don't have to thank me or the others who served their country proudly so you could have the freedom to race around in your convertible. End of discussion. You're not worth my time because you just don't get it and never will.

I want to thank you for your service, I lost a relative (first cousin) Lcpl Allan Damian, he and seven others died on 27Jun67, Alpha 1/26. I was a young 13yr old when I last saw him. You all deserve your chapter in history, and live for those who didn't come home. I salute you.

Thanks for everthing jalimager!! Semper Fi! I hate to sound selfish, but do you have any photos of Dong Ha Mountain? That's the closest I ever came to dying over there when a CH-46 missed the landing pad with its right rear landing gear. I've wanted to recreate that scene in a diorama for a number of years. My memory was that the landing pad was a square of Marsted matting and was propped in some places by C-Ration boxes.

Thank you and you are my inspiration for joining up and getting ready for deployment.
I am a vietnamese born just after the war. I feel very sad when I see something about the war in my country. But we should forgive each other and I want to tell that the vietnamese people love the peace and want to make friend with every body. Thank you Jalimager for visiting my country. I understand the suffering of vietnamese people and american veterans. LOVE and PEACE
You got back. You have a family, a life. Amazing, no? Semper Fi to you, and to all those who still stand watch, young and silent, in the bush, just as they were so many decades ago....I can't believe it all, to this day. I turned around, and I was old......
I served with B Troop 2/17 Cav, 101st Airborne in 70 and 71. I was a doorgunner on a Scout LOH and was all over Khe Sanh, Ashau Valley, Roung Roung Valley, Quang Tri, etc etc. I enjoyed your video.
My wife is Vietnamese and I've been back to VN several times but have not been back to our old AO. Welcome back to the US, welcome back to Vietnam. Thanks for what you did long ago.
@roygonefish You doorgunners saved our ass many times. I can't tell you how much I appreciated those choppers coming in to lay down fire for us. Many thanks to you sir and for your service to our country as well.
I bet you were not any happier to see us then we were to see you when we got shot down. You guys never left us on our on, you always came and got us, no matter how bad it was ! God Bless you for it.
I served with the 101st in 1970 and 1971. Khe Sanh, the Ashau Valley, Roung Roung Valley, Laotian Border area, etc etc. I was a door gunner on a scout ship with B Troop 2/17 Cav. I've been back to Vietnam several times but never made it to the old AO yet, I will someday. My wife is from the Ben Tre area, south of Saigon.
Your video is well done, I'm glad I found it. Welcome home and welcome back to Vietnam. Thanks for your service.
My father was in A co.3rd Recon Bat.3rd Mar.Div. and told me all about this area when I was a kid ! He was pulled out of his A.O.and sent to Khe Sahn ! Glad to see your son was able to make the trip with you! You guys did your best in Vietnam (All gave some ,Some gave ALL) ! From a son of a Vietnam Vet and a RECON MARINE (Semper Fi) WELCOME HOME !!! THANK YOU for your service! It was HONORABLE !
@ppspsd, Thank you for your kind words. My son was deeply impacted by the trip. I know many of the sons and daughters of fathers who were there also paid a price by having a father with PTSD.
sir thanks! I was unsure anyone would get my message but there you go. Thank you sir,i believe in your sincerity.I will save this for alone time,Thank you SIR!
@BigRooster747, How would you possibly know? If the bottle thrown in this video bothers you so much it compelled you to write a comment, then I suggest you find another means of entertaining yourself. Those who were there and others who have graciously taken their time to leave comments about this video seem to understand, something you apparently just don't recognize.
@BigRooster747, Wow! What a quick response. Let me try to explain throwing the bottle...For the guys who were there and those who died, we toasted to their service in that hell hole. Khe Sanh was littered with everything you can imagine. We shit in C-Rat boxes and threw them over the consertina wire so the gooks would have to crawl through our shit to get to us. To throw the bottle after the toast was indicative of what a Marine might have done at the time. It was thrown and Marines would know.
ok thanks, I do understand you know.... and the info on the c-rations, wow yes I can imagine. I hope you were able to goon with your life after the ordeal. Never meant to show disrespect. Just got my randall....
My Dad was there with Bravo Battery 1st Battalion 12th Marines 3rd Marine Division on gun #3 1966-67. I served in the Corps as an MP 1991-95. Semper Fi and God bless you for gathering the courage to return. I`d be there for my dad too if he would go back.
my father in law was in khe sanh he thanks the lord every day for watching his six through that conflict he has also gone to iraq and afgahnistan as a contractor said the daily shelling from insergents brought back lots of old memories and feelings mostly bad one good the feeling when the all clear is given to come out of the bunker its fathers day 2010 to both my father brothers and uncles / father in law i salute you all god bless
great video i showed it to my dad it brought tears to his eyes i wanted to take him back but hes not in good health he was in khe sanh during the tet he was 26 marines hs company 67-69
im just a 33 year old from england but am kind of fascinated when it comes to the Vietnam war and i just wanna say i respect all you americans who were there massively.
Outstanding, very moving video. God Bless and thanks to all who served and particularly all those who gave their all during this fight where brave Marines kicked Giap's ass!! Semper Fi!
Awesome video. I was there in May 2008 to honor the memory of my cousin 1LT Mike Helmstetler's who was KIA on 19 Jun 68 when the H-46 he was flying went down. Thanks to you and all your brothers in arms for your service, especially to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Thx, It was interesting to see them again. I camped at the rockpile in 66, in the Hills 66 and at Khe Sanh and Hill 861 in 67. Went home laid out on a hospital plane but gave Giap's Soldiers hell while there as an grunt FO. Bagged and tagged 100% PTSD 97.
"We have shared the incommunicable experience of war. We have felt, we still feel, the passion of life to its top. In our youths, our hearts were touched with fire."
I watched this video with tears in my eyes. I,m a Vietnam EraNavy veteran. I just recently read "Voices of Courage The Battle for Khe Sahn" Few Americans ever really knew the true story of those 77 days in 67-68. Think what you will about the Vietnam War, but the valor and sacrifice made by the Marines who served and died at Khe Sahn can only be among the most notable in American military history. n.
Many thanks to you sir. I am glad this video compelled you to write your most gracious comment honoring the men who fought and died there and thanks to you as well for your service to our country.
I would just like to extend my thank once again to those who recently posted comments regarding this video. I greatly appreciate you taking the time to offer your sincere comments. I am humbled and grateful.
@jalimager I'm in tears ! Im not a vet of the war in Vietnam, but i cant help but cry for all you brave men who fought in that horror.in Canada we fell your pain too. God Loves you,and every man woman, who served loves you too .God Blesses all of you,and let me say sorry for the things you prob went threw, the friends lost, the things seen. Peace
Wow im at a loss for words, to think back 40 years you didnt know whether you would make it out of that hellish situation that was Khe sanh, not knowing whether or not one night the NVA or Vietcong might launch a final assault. Than you bring your son to the same battlefield you were standing on, that will be memorable forever. I would be honored to shake your hand or any other war veteran, you guys are legends, heroes, above all U.S Marines, good hunting back in 68'.
Thanks for your comment and watching my videos. Yea, we humped around Khe Sanh a lot. There was a valley just north of the airstrip we called, "The Valley of Death." That's where I was wounded. Glad you made it out alive man. Semper Fi and all the best to you and your family.
That was a very moving film. I was an 0311 with the Golf 2/1 during Operation Pegasus. We had the pleasure of humping the surrounding mountains during the operation while the army rode in on hueys. That was the one thing that really struck me about Khe Sahn, how it seemed to be suroounded by mountains (well that and the burned out C-130 on the air strip). Great film. Semper Fi.
i have a question for you. do you know if U.S. troops made ground raids into North Vietnam at all? my dentist's husband was in vietnam and she says he crossed the border a number of times. Anyway, god bless the marines
I don't know if any U.S. Troops purposely organized ground operations North of the DMZ. I do know, however, that my unit once drifted into Laos, but it was due most likely to a map reading error because we were ordered to move east.
@BryantFinlay ya my dad got dropped into the north into a division of nva they went in at night killed alot of nva and had to run with the nva on there tail for 3 to 4 days to get back to the south with no airsupport he was with 26th marines
Yes they are all hero's. Absolutely. You are the rotten one and an example of everything thats wrong with America. Quick to anger and full of prejudice. Wogbasha? Knuckle headed inbred. Too thick to think. Its much easier to just stereotype isn't it. More time to read gun mags and hate. Lets hope Obama does something to stop ignorant hateful idiots like you gaining a voice anywhere. Hats off to all servicemen, rememberance day here yesterday. May you all live long and prosper. not you wogbasha.
Payback on who? The people who sent the shells in or the people who sent your pals in as cannon fodder? I mean no disrespect, I am young and very likely naive and am dedicating time trying to comprehend the enormity of it all. If you could bother with the time I would very much like to hear your thoughts. Would have loved to have been there with someone of such alternate experience. My guide was very biased. Drinking a scotch to you now. Cheers from New Zealand.
As a new Zealander visiting out of respect for all lost souls. I found it a horrible example of how americans continue to put great men like you and your mates forth to commit such pointless devastation. The area was utterley destroyed then & now for the limbless generations born to this day. You suffered no more than those whose land you occupied but you suffered incredibly. Despite who was wrong or right, its just so bloody sad.
It is a new day in the United States with our newly elected "president elect" Barack Obama. I have hope in his ability to unit our country for the good of all mankind. Mr. Obama promotes respect for people of other nations, their governments and religions and I believe the USA will once again regain the trust and respect it deserves.
Hello. this is a very nice video. a friend of my fathers was at khe sanh in 1968. aslo a marine. his name is Federico Lora Lopez. does that name ring a bell?

I served with the 101st in 1970 and 1971. Khe Sanh, the Ashau Valley, Roung Roung Valley, Laotian Border area, etc etc. I was a door gunner on a scout ship with B Troop 2/17 Cav. I've been back to Vietnam several times but never made it to the old AO yet, I will someday. My wife is from the Ben Tre area, south of Saigon.
Your video is well done, I'm glad I found it. Welcome home and welcome back to Vietnam. Thanks for your service.

@ppspsd, Thank you for your kind words. My son was deeply impacted by the trip. I know many of the sons and daughters of fathers who were there also paid a price by having a father with PTSD.

and again the small bottle is thrown in the bush..... not really neccessary imo to make the point.
BigRooster747 1 year ago
@BigRooster747, How would you possibly know? If the bottle thrown in this video bothers you so much it compelled you to write a comment, then I suggest you find another means of entertaining yourself. Those who were there and others who have graciously taken their time to leave comments about this video seem to understand, something you apparently just don't recognize.
jalimager 1 year ago
@jalimager
I wasn't there, sure ........ but why the bottle, surely is was enough to be there an cry? This is a potent video for that reason.
BigRooster747 1 year ago
@BigRooster747, Wow! What a quick response. Let me try to explain throwing the bottle...For the guys who were there and those who died, we toasted to their service in that hell hole. Khe Sanh was littered with everything you can imagine. We shit in C-Rat boxes and threw them over the consertina wire so the gooks would have to crawl through our shit to get to us. To throw the bottle after the toast was indicative of what a Marine might have done at the time. It was thrown and Marines would know.
jalimager 1 year ago
@jalimager
ok thanks, I do understand you know.... and the info on the c-rations, wow yes I can imagine. I hope you were able to goon with your life after the ordeal. Never meant to show disrespect. Just got my randall....

I watched this video with tears in my eyes. I,m a Vietnam EraNavy veteran. I just recently read "Voices of Courage The Battle for Khe Sahn" Few Americans ever really knew the true story of those 77 days in 67-68. Think what you will about the Vietnam War, but the valor and sacrifice made by the Marines who served and died at Khe Sahn can only be among the most notable in American military history. n.

I would be honored to shake your hand or any other war veteran, you guys are legends, heroes, above all U.S Marines, good hunting back in 68'.

duster 1968,
Thanks for your comment and watching my videos. Yea, we humped around Khe Sanh a lot. There was a valley just north of the airstrip we called, "The Valley of Death." That's where I was wounded. Glad you made it out alive man. Semper Fi and all the best to you and your family.
jalimager 2 years ago

BryantFinlay 3 years ago
I don't know if any U.S. Troops purposely organized ground operations North of the DMZ. I do know, however, that my unit once drifted into Laos, but it was due most likely to a map reading error because we were ordered to move east.
jalimager 3 years ago

Cheers from New Zealand.
riskygjk 3 years ago
