@dontdispie it's the idea that states have the right/obligation to nullify unconstitutional laws passed by the federal gov. It comes under the idea that a law that is unjust/illegal is no law at all.
It's the same vein as jury nullification. Despite everything the system is actually set up to have the power at the bottom. It's just unexercised.
Did you know if a pot or tax case gets a jury trial and the jury votes the defendant not guilty despite the evidence, the defendant is not guilty? Kinda cool huh? XD
