This is why you ALWAYS, ALWAYS carry and extra set of underwear when metal detecting!! Great find and.....apparently a great hunt there in Kansas. And it was right below the surface?? Also noticed your detector, what kind is it?

Yeah I just moved to Atlanta and it seems impossile to find any good places like VA. I am gonna keep at it until I find a few of those hard to get to hidden places that still have woods instead of concrete...
@592bubba Hi, I live in Kansas too, Clay County...could you tell me the county or area that you found it in? Im only 12 but im really getting in to this. Thanks
PCGS price guide currently shows the 1847-0 starting in VF-30 $660, MS-55 $1,700. The 1844 $5 coin is in mint condition. It starts out at VF-30 $350, MS 60 $1,800. To me...their priceless!
Come spring I will start my Metal Detecting. What kind of Metal Detector should I buy? I would like to purchase a top of the line detector. What do you recomend?
Stick with the major brands like Whites, Garrett, Minelab, Fisher ect...trust me, you do not need a "top of the line" detector when starting out in this hobby. You may get into this and find out this is not what you really enjoy and you've just spent $1500 on a detector. I've been doing this a long time and presently I'm using a Whites MXT for my relic hunting. Be smart about your purchase, buy the best machine that your buget will allow and learn that machine WELL! Good luck!
