I have one of these; it's a rotating-field 1/20hp motor which was used in some Maytag washing machines. I had to grind down the brushes and clean up the slip rings to get it to run properly.
look at the nasty looking one i have sometime! i have 2 of them a 1/4hp and a 1/30hp. the 1/30hp is in great shape, the 1/4hp still runs good but boy its beat up and the bearings have sooo much play. the guy who gave it to me ran a small cement mixer with it but it originally came off a washer. one of the mounting feet broke off it and its covered in cement yet it still seems to keep on going strong.
@jon4ford i am now super careful because about a year ago i put a 6" nylon propeller on a C frame motor doing 3800+ RPM and it flew off with painful results! LOL
hi there, do you know how you would oil the bareings on these motors, i cant seem to find anything about them for proper maintenance

that is really cool. i have 19 model plane propellers from 2" to 20" wide and some fit on motors i might post them at some point

i have a couple of those motors! they are really a very reliable old motor! that style dates back to the 1920's!
