The ironic thing with the Indian lions is that they have never ever attacked humans. In the footage you see people walking right past a pride of wild lions as though they're hardley even there.

The other ironic thing is there is almost no interaction between the lions and tigers. They just stay out of each others territory.

I once saw this documentary with this awesome footage. These 4 female lions were having trouble getting their prey down, a very large african buffalo. Then, almost as if it was a human action, one of them seems to run off and get help. Few minutes later, the male lion comes in and basically fells the buffalo with one mighty blow.

So, yes, they do have their use, males. ;)
