Celines was lipped but it doesnt matter. Her studio version is very impressive where as regine did a karaoke cover. And she screamed. Celine properly placed her notes even if it was in the studio. so celine hands down.

this song is especially hard to sing because not only it is HIGH but it also requires dead on inflections and agility of the voice which CELINE successfully executed. this isn't only about how high the notes are to sing but also other technicalities which makes it even more difficult to sing. remember, it doesn't mean the higher the note, the better the song will be. obviously, this song is really meant for celine. Celine's voice has the right power and depth to it compared to regine's voice.
For me it's my Idol regine I bet theirs no one are gonna try to bit regine at singing and I know that Celine is good but regine has more power to sing high notes more than celine
@thewatchmenz Jennifer has a good mix (or rather is capable of it) and has shown to be able to belt a C6 which is higher than Regine's B5. She also seems to have more stamina from G#5 and up than Regine because she's belted A5s, and Bb5s multiple times in songs.

Celine did NOT hit higher notes than Regine here, and below are the reasons:
3:18 into this video: Celine just touched the note and let the reverb carry her note. She was supposed to have prolonged that note but DID NOT. Regine, on the other hand, not only sustained the note, but she took it half a step up while sustaining the note (@ 3:21 notice Regine's note slightly higher than Celine's 1-beat note).

I love both artists. To each their own distinct sound and vocal capabilities. While I love Regine for her definite prowess in ballad singing and making so much renditions of the same song, I gotta say Celine's vocal can handle more outside her own ballad genre. I heard Regine try pop and she doesn't sound quite well in a faster beat as Celine. They both do Jazz and semi-opera style well. R&B is something they both can touch but I feel Celine has more soul.
celine has a great voice and a prowess on every words she sings, something that most singers doesn't have. i do believe that celine sang it live.. regine has a very very strong voice but it lacks magic.. please listen carefully to see the difference between their voices, this song need strong emotions, and i don't see it with regine (just sing and sing), celine shows emotion with all of her songs no matter how high the notes may be, that's what you called talent, right my dear?

REgine doesn't have as much flexibility in her voice. She is good mostly for held power notes but that;'s it. So regardless of if celine is lipping anything when I compare the audio she wins by a landslide

The performance is not lipped. The studio recording was taken from the LIVE performance at the Olympics. You're just trying to bring Regine up by invalidating Celine.
It was lipped. Her vocals were pre recorded. Although her mic was on so she can do some adlibs in between. Check the last part when the choir was singing and Celine did a vocal run. That was not in the recording, so u r already wrong in saying that they recorded this song at the event. Regine's audio quality sucked. Not fair.
They took the ad-lib out for the recording so that there would be no interruption when the choir sang their part. The performance was live and as for Regine's audio quality, I got the video from this site and there was only one video for that performance. I didn't tamper with anything, so if the audio sucks, blame the original poster of the video, not me.
And how did you know that they took the adlib out? Were you there at the studio? Celine's performance was obviously lipped. Why didn't you choose the real live ones where Celine lowers the key a whole note? I did not say that you tampered with Regine's audio. No, it simply means that Celine's was on to give her a chance to sing live in some parts. There is no way, no matter how good of a singer you are, that you can exactly duplicate the audio quality of a recording. You can either be close, or even better than the studio version, but NEVER exactly the same. Nothing wrong w/ being a proud fan. Just don't exalt your favorite singer at the expense of another by choosing a poor audio quality performance by Regine to Celine's CD quality audio.

I think Celine has more resonance, it's obvious when we switch in the vid between the two versions, Celine tone is more brilliant. Plus Celine wouldn't have said that she was scared her voice cracked during this performance if it was prerecorded. But I love Regine high belting register, very impressive.
This is not biased. I used the performance of Celine from the Olympics because its the only one that's in the same key as Regine's performance. The audio is not under my control and I used the clips that are here so the song would be in sequence.

i love them both but celines audio is definitely in a higher quality and she is singing in front of the olympic crowd, if regine is in the same situation then we can say that it is also her best and then we can start comparing...

Celine did NOT hit higher notes than Regine here, and below are the reasons:
3:18 into this video: Celine just touched the note and let the reverb carry her note. She was supposed to have prolonged that note but DID NOT. Regine, on the other hand, not only sustained the note, but she took it half a step up while sustaining the note (@ 3:21 notice Regine's note slightly higher than Celine's 1-beat note).
Can anyone refute this claim? Nope. Regine, 1. Celine, 0.

In addition, I saw the full video of Regine's version and the part that Celine did on 3:05 is nowhere to be found in Regine's version.

On 3:32 - 3:37 she changed the tone by going lower because she could not hit the usual note for that part that Celine can. She really ruined this song.
And for the one who posted here that said that Regine was wearing a heavy outfit I won't buy that. She should have chosen one that would not affect her performance but she still went with that attire to give her a lame excuse in case psople compare her rendition with Celine. So with that, I go for Celine.

I love both artists. To each their own distinct sound and vocal capabilities. While I love Regine for her definite prowess in ballad singing and making so much renditions of the same song, I gotta say Celine's vocal can handle more outside her own ballad genre. I heard Regine try pop and she doesn't sound quite well in a faster beat as Celine. They both do Jazz and semi-opera style well. R&B is something they both can touch but I feel Celine has more soul.

I am a big fan of both singers. Celine is really a good singer. And there is no question about that. As with Regine, she is the pride of each Filipino when it comes to singing. But about this song, I will go for Celine. She's really good in it. I am a Filipino but I just know that Celine is better with this song. It is in the lyrics of the song, "to reach for your own star". Regine and Celine have their own brightness.

It was lipped. Her vocals were pre recorded. Although her mic was on so she can do some adlibs in between. Check the last part when the choir was singing and Celine did a vocal run. That was not in the recording, so u r already wrong in saying that they recorded this song at the event. Regine's audio quality sucked. Not fair.

They took the ad-lib out for the recording so that there would be no interruption when the choir sang their part. The performance was live and as for Regine's audio quality, I got the video from this site and there was only one video for that performance. I didn't tamper with anything, so if the audio sucks, blame the original poster of the video, not me.

No, it simply means that Celine's was on to give her a chance to sing live in some parts. There is no way, no matter how good of a singer you are, that you can exactly duplicate the audio quality of a recording. You can either be close, or even better than the studio version, but NEVER exactly the same. Nothing wrong w/ being a proud fan. Just don't exalt your favorite singer at the expense of another by choosing a poor audio quality performance by Regine to Celine's CD quality audio.

I think Celine has more resonance, it's obvious when we switch in the vid between the two versions, Celine tone is more brilliant. Plus Celine wouldn't have said that she was scared her voice cracked during this performance if it was prerecorded. But I love Regine high belting register, very impressive.

i love them both but celines audio is definitely in a higher quality and she is singing in front of the olympic crowd, if regine is in the same situation then we can say that it is also her best and then we can start comparing...

well, I'm sorry, but I've seen enough Regine videos to know this is the way she ALWAYS performs. It is not the outfit, whether or not the outfit is difficult to perform in. She just isn't much of a performer or song interpreter. Someone should tell her to start trying.

and.......because of the props...
it is to awkward for Regine to move, thus it is innappropriate to wave her hands..unlike the outfit of celine, ....
as what i've observe celine can't sing without moving her hands( can she put emotion to the music without moving her hands?? i bet she can't ),,.. while Regine, even though she just stand and sing there, still, she performed it very well.....
I therfore conclude that Regine is so unique, that the ability or hers is somewhat phenomenal

what a petty comparison. LOL. Use whatever helps you to emote, if your hands help you so be it. And Celine has emoted without hands, whereas Regine NEVER emotes with or without. So, I'm not sure what your point is.

ok. for those who commented that Regine did not sing it" emotionally "..or 'not bringing into our heart" and "passion" ...
before you comment try to consider the seetings first, as what you see Regine was sorroundeded with brilliant colors..... and celine has a dull background......
see the difference????...........
the background of celine reflected more on the emotion feelings.......
while on Regine signifies more on the visual,the happiness ( brilliant colors )..

sorry, it has nothing to do with the background. We are looking at and listening to THEM, not their backgrounds. Celine was more emotional, Regine typically is not.
