  • All rise for the Youtube anthem!

  • @Mrsmith42e AT attention worms!!!

  • To ANYONE thinking about flying (or doing anything) in the military, let me say this... "The National Guard is one of the best kept secrets"... Seriously, look into this... Those of you that read this and are already down here at Rucker will know what I mean ;-)

  • @GreenMarineSVX Yea, but isn't the NG like really slow for promotion...?

Or you are talking, the easiest path to to flying helicopters?

I retired years ago, wish would have stayed. One thing about warrants that most people probably don't know, W5's get treated almost like full-bird colonels, Just drive by a PX, there's always a spot marked "O6 / Cmd Sargent Major OR W5"

My last boss was a W5 Marine, he could get away with murder. He used to email the Commandant directly.

  • @RunningSwimmingMan Yeah, the NG can be slow for promotion. I'm a good example of that... Been a 2LT now for 32 months (promotion time from 2LT to 1LT in Active Duty is only 18 months, and basically automatic), however part of the reason for nearly 2x the required time is because I did a branch transfer from CBRN to Aviation, and they didn't have a slot to fit me into for promotion. So I can't get promoted until I'm qualified as an Army Aviator. I'm not chasing rank though - I JUST WANT TO FLY

  • @GreenMarineSVX do u meen fort rucker alabama

  • i heard that if you have cetain number of college credits that you can become a warrant officer when you complete boot camp as enlisted then after go to OCS to become one and then go to flight school, i was thinking of persueing this, or am jusy wasting my time?

  • @arm4life87 You can become a warrant officer. Although I am not totally positive on the requirements. Honestly though, just finish college and go to OCS and become a real officer... The Warrant side is really cool, but promotions are slow and to get to CW-3 you are looking at ATLEAST 6 years after pinning CW-2. But I heard one of the requirements to pin CW-3 is a college degree. Not positive though. I just went OCS route instead...

  • @arm4life87

I would learn how to write and spell better if you want to be a WO in the US Army.

I is a proper noun and ALWAYS capitalized. PURSUING is spelled this way. You will need to be able to pass the ASVAB with a score of 110 or better and the Flight Aptitude Test as well. If you are not prior service, you'll go before a board of officers and THEY will decide if they believe you have what it takes.

  • @Colonialpara as far as spelling goes, this is a website comment section ,so what if i didnt cap my I . i understand grammer is important depending on the document, and this is not one those cases.

  • hey rookie come fly a second in my world, that of a real pilot goofball

  • I was interested in the video, but the first thing I did was pause the video, then wrote this comment to tell you I disliked it without watching it and I am now leaving. Die.

  • is this fort rucker alabama?

  • @freekvf yep

  • Get rid of the music or if you call it that it's just noise, this is not about musicians it's about helicopter school military taxpayer funded, go to Berkley Music School, MA if you want to try music

  • @KiddRay806 - Aviation is open to both Commissioned Officers and Warrant Officers; Active Duty, Reserves, and National Guard. Talk to your ROTC cadre about what you want to do and ensure that you meet the requirements.

  • Can Officers go through this training? Im planning on going through ROTC to better my chances of becoming a helo pilot

  • @KiddRay808 YES, in fact ROTC is the easiest route to Army Aviation. Just maintain good grades in college (at least a 3.3 GPA), pass both the AFAST and CLASS 1A flight physical, and stay out of trouble and your as good as gold. Send me a message if you have any more questions.

SOURCE: I recently took the ROTC route and will be attending flight school in June

  • @aviation2011 I thought the fastest way is to become a warrant officer. I'm planning on becoming a helo pilot too it's my dream. How long do you have to go to ROTC? Do you need a Bachelors or?

  • @jess1up Eh, you can choose go WOCS (warrant) however it is EXTREMELY competitive to get into. PLUS acceptance into WOCS does not guarantee you flight school, as you still have to compete in WOCS as well. I mentioned ROTC because getting aviation through this route is SOLEY dependent on YOU. My hint, get accepted into an easy/layed back four year school w/ROTC and major in something easy (basket weaving lol) so that you make good grades. The Army doesn't care what degree you get at school!

  • @aviation2011 Sweet, thanks for the advice. What did you do in ROTC?

  • @jess1up I majored in history and graduated as battalion commander

  • @aviation2011 Would you say its easier to get an Army ROTC Scholarship than the NROTC one? I am currently applying to everything possible such as ROTC programs and the service academies. I have a 90 GPA in school (I'm going into senior year this fall), I have a 580 Math SAT, 590 Writing and 510 Reading (I know, it can and WILL be better on reading). Thanks

  • @Bhinton94 I don't know too much about the NROTC process, however I can speak on applying for Army ROTC. Back in my day so long as you had a 3.0 GPA, 900 SAT score, and could pass the APFT, you were golden. However that was in 2007 and many schools are receiving less scholarships now. I would say stay the course and keep applying for everything that way you'll always have a back up plan should something fall though. But with your "stats" you should be fine, just keep your grades up.

  • How you get the chance of fly the helo you want? (Like if i prefer the blackhawck instead of the kiowa.)

  • @Captus15 It all depends on how you rank in your class that you are going threw training with. If you are top in your class then you will get first pick on the aircraft you want...
