  • Outstanding.

  • @Nazzz65 thanks !

  • So did you know exactly what you were doing when you were going into this? Or did you just kind of figure it out as you go? Do you work at some kind of shop that does this or something? I'm not professional, but I'm fairly handy with a wrench and I want to attempt this swap. But I think I might go for the all aluminum version to save a little weight.

  • hey man nice truck what headers did you use on that ?

  • aye man thats a bad ass truck fuck all thos guys man im building a 73 chevy stepside and ppl been giving me shit for ever but its my truck so they can kiss my ass ill blow them away on the strip any day

  • @my73kustomchevy thanks mate , yeah im not worried about what people think its just pure jealousy!! they have no idea!

  • What tack fit in there? Is it out of a Camaro?

  • @olds7980 yes it out of a 82 camaro !

  • how much did the vortect engine cost you ?

  • @0602720noeflores got this before they got popular $450 with all the bolt ons and harness and ecu

  • lowerd it what a shame these trucks are ment to be lifted not lowerd

  • @ihat3h1tmark3rs lifted ??? your been chewing to much wacky tabaccy how old are you 15 ??

  • Nice front end grill. Hideous long bed.

  • @ZildjianSeRG you face is hideous !

  • wow man that truck is tight, what did you do to get it that low? thats a nice stance, i would like my 77 to sit like that. !

  • nice truck!! where in Maine are you? I'm near portland and I've got an 83 GMC with a Detroit in it... Brown and tan, I'll keep my eyes open for ya!

  • @silleywilley waterboro area

  • nice and sound good

  • looks like a tac gauge out of camaro

  • @Brmobrad 82 camaro

  • what is the lsx?

  • @MangoSmoothie16 5.3 liter

  • @guz04087 Oh... right. I need to stay updated on my gm crate motors lol

  • @MangoSmoothie16 5.3 liter

  • I love your truck! I love that you kept the older style grill when most do the '90 Suburban grill-swap and you did the 8' bed, it's unique.

  • @ParsleyPatty thx

  • How hard was it mouting the engine and using the factory computer?

  • @jamesyoung123 not really hard at all !

  • yeah i want a stall i will look into it , im installing 3;73 and i want a nice cam too but dont wanna mess with my ecu !

  • a 3200 stall converter and a cam would make a world of difference in this truck! it will be a rocket then! look at circle d 278mm stall converters they are cheap and work great. droped 4tenths of my 1/4 mile time in my 6.0 trailblazer. and if you add a small cam! forget about it! sweet truck i really like it and the long bed isnt a issue for me.

  • Very nice. One question, how difficult was wiring the engine to the truck? Was it difficult to adapt to the factory guages and such? Is there any tips you would give to a guy looking to do the same swap? I'm trying to decide if I want to do this myself. Thanks for your help!

  • @chevycrazybum if you read some of the comments on this and other videos ive posted there is a run down on how easy it was !

  • Very nice! Beautiful truck! Nice quality work! Love the hubcaps!

  • nice truck mines exactly like it but a 79 c10 and short bed red and all mine has the 350 carburatur

  • hey your on 67-72 chevy trucks aren't you?!!?

  • thats a nice red, is that the original paint color

  • Loving the number plate!!!!

  • I like how your truck looks lowered...what kit did you put in it?

  • @213California323 its got djm 3in lowered spindles with 2 coils removed for the springs and i flipped the rearend

  • This is a great build man. I have a 78 aslo 4wd that i converted to a L31 5.7 vortec from a 98 and a 4L80e tranny and I also installed the dash into it i get 23mpg out of mine on the highway and im running 33's with 3.73 gears. Great job with the build madd props!

  • That truck is freaking nice man. I hope my 87 can be that nice some day. But uh, can you estimate the total cost of all parts you bought from the junkyard? Or where ever you got the engine and all that stuff. I want to do this conversion as well. But I was wondering about the initial cost of the engine and tranny and computer and anything else that you need.

  • @jcinnamon01 i would say around 1- 1.5 grand for the compete engine and about a grand for parts and pieces i lucked out and found a low miles engine for $450 and trans for $300 good kuck!!

  • guz04087- need just alittle more advice, where did you get the connection for speed signal (vss) ps gauges from the 91 burban on its way thanks alot

  • @g8terchewy hey there , the VSS should be part of the engine wiring loom ,there will be somw wires going to the trans from the transmission it goes to the ECM from there to the burb gauge !

  • this is awesome.. i actually want to do this really bad

  • hermosaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!! camioneta

  • Wow very nice.I wanna do the same with my '84.What kind of gas mileage could I expect?Would it be more or less like '07 5.3 Silverado.

  • @confederatetexan1 i get about 22 mpg

  • Very nice job on the truck. I really like the stock wheel covers with the truck being lowered. It is just beautiful man!! I love it!

  • AHH THX bud!

  • @guz04087

  • 0:19 - 0:35 , gives me the shiveries!!

  • @4rdt0ugh08 in a bad way?

  • @guz04087 Nah, I just LOVE the Vortecs aLOT!

  • did u get or truck painted ?

  • can u take some pictures of the motor mounts and firewall and send them to me ?

  • @chevy5030 take a look at this video you can clearly see hiw far from the firewall the engine is the engine mount are on the summit webside unbolt the factory 5.3 mount and sints the plates to the engine then your small block engine mount fit the the plates

  • @chevy5030take a look at my video title!! 5.3 VORTEC 4L60E Conversion into a 1978 CHEVROLET C 10 PART 2!!!! it clearly shows the engine at the firewall !!!! for the engine mount do a search on the summit website you MUST remove the factory 5.3 engine mounts from the engine install the provided plates to the engine this allows the engine to bolt to the factory 73-87 mounts , where are you located !!!!

  • where did u get the motormounts ?

  • shhhh..... its sleeping

  • bud if anything it should be shortened , use you c10 t350 transmission bracket on the 4l60e and everything will line up factory as far as the linkage is concerned if he is saying the shaft needs to be 4 in longer he shouldnt be doing conversions!!! can you take a pic of the engine at the firewall and email it to me !!

  • hey guz04087 its me again sorry for bothering you again, i have couple more questions, don't know what the heck my mechanic is upto but called me and said my drive shaft has to be extended about 4" any idea what the heck he's talking bout? And if you could tell me what you need for the shift linkage part # . Thanks a bunch hopefully be done with the c10 soon

  • how did you swap the motor? I was thinking about doing that on 77-79 Chevy Impala/Caprice sedan. If you have helpful tips on this swap let me know.

  • what did you use for engine mounts?

  • did u keep the stock gas tank

  • @johngonhat yes but im changing it to the 87 tbi tank , it should have a bowl in the bottom of it !!!

  • yes its out of a 86 camaro with some mods to make it fit

  • is that tac out of a camaro?

  • looks like a 2000? 5.3.

  • Im doing a similar project but with a 5.7 H.O. into my 1978 k10

  • hey can i get your email i have a few question about motor mounts

  • @g8terchewy did you get my email ??

  • looking forward to seeing it!! when i was doing mine there wasnt much info on the 73-87 so if you need help just post it here! oh

PS track down a 91 SUBURBAN OR BLAZER speedometer cluster for your SPEEDOMETER electric for VSS

  • thanx guz04087, will post some vids on mine as soon as its done, might need your help again lol sorry i'm novice at ths

  • for the water temp on the PASS side rear of the head you will see a 12mm bolt allan key from memory remove thatgo to hotrodlane.cc navigate to there online catalog and go to page 92 you will see the coolant temp adapters on there if that bolt you removed was the 12mm one then order that

on the about $18 you will see an oil one too i didnt use that i tapped mine out

  • on the drivers side of the pan above the filter you will see a block for oil lines some engine dont run the oil cooler lines from factory , mine didnt remove the two bolt and block, drill the block with a Q SIZE DRILL BIT ONLY AND THE TAP IT WITH 1/8 NPT TAP Screw in you oil sending unit for the oil pressure gauge !!!!

  • guz04087 need help i've got an 85 gmc swb just got an 04 5.3 , how do i keep my gauges to work? dakota digital makes some but i wanna keep it original as much as possible thanx any info apreciated

  • whered u get the 5.3 at and did u bore it out to 5.7 to make an ls1

  • @mwd92

Boring a 5.3 to a 5.7 just gives it the same displacement, LS-1's are more than just a number between the LQ's.

  • summit sell a lsx engine plate kit for the small block engine mounts if you do a search at summit you will find most of what you need for the conversion

  • nice truck bro..where can I get the info on how to install that engine?? if you could tell me I would appreciate it thanks.

  • dude thats a wicked truck!!

  • what sort of milage do you get out of it now ? I have a 78 C10 stepside with a 350 and turbo 700 trans and i only get 10 us mpg , am thinking about putting a 5.7 vortec in. , just got to find some one to modify the loom for me

  • @artrite2 i get close to 20mpg if not more on the hwy

do you mean a 5.7 vortec gen 2 or the 5.7 gto / corvette engine

    those are 2 different engine

  • sleeper!! =) pretty clean truck

  • those hubcaps are raunchy. rock steel wheels or something?

  • @leafsrule16 yeah , i know well it will do till its tubbed and 4 linked, i have some 15.5 inch mickey tompson tires and 12 inch pro star s going on the back next year!!

  • @guz04087 that should really look good. what made you want to do a 5.3 conversion? also, how was hooking up all the electornics and styuff

  • @leafsrule16 well , the wiring was pretty easy i use a guy who modifies the factory harness, why i instaledl the 5.3, there a great motor with plenty of power and are economical to run !!!

  • Nice Job Man! Im doing that swap now on my '84. Love the swap on the guages. That take patients!

  • @AGearHead4Life thanks i apeciate the comment peope over look the work you do on just the tacho and speedo the inside look way diffrent now new dash ,carpet , seat door panels it come along way

next year if will have tubs and 4 linl work

  • @guz04087 Wow! You're doing some great stuff here. Subscribed!

  • NIce truck. Classic cracked dash heh. Is that a stand alone computer system in there? brand? or is it all from a donor vehicle.

  • hey I was lookin at your build thread on 73-87chevytrucks...in there you said the fuel pump part number e3210, but in someone else's thread you said you used e3270, which one is right?

  • @nucknoel89 I know a Carter P5000 will work, but its an inline pump. I've use it for most swaps.

  • what exactly (parts) do you need for this conversion. i'm planning on doing the same thing though on an 80's or so chevy. lq9 with a t56 is what i'm planning on swapping in. sick chevy

  • i will, once i get the 21/2 grand for the rims i want!!

  • @guz04087 what kind of rims???

  • sexy truck man! only thing i would change would be the rims.

  • hey very nice RPM cluster gauge... perfect fit, i like, where do you find it

  • @raulb24 Its a 86 camaro tacho i removed the factory gas gauge replaced it with the the camaro tacho as you see the tacho has the oil gauge aswell so i removed the origanal oil gauge and replaced it with a fuel gauge i made from the oil gauge face and the factory fuel gauge unit, all i did was removed the lettering for the oil gauge and replaced them with the fuel gauge letttering i had to repin the cluster too!!! oh by the way thats a elec. speedo out of a 91 blazer!!

  • Thanks guz04087. very nice truck .excelent work

  • This truck is beautiful. Good work.
