Bill Withers' original and the live version at The Carnegie Hall rank as the benchmark. But there is another version which is absolutely superb - Esther Philips' on her album "Home Is Where The Hatred Is". This will tear your guts out. The raw emotion is unbearable. Aaron Neville does a good job as well. But there are so many versions out there each of us will have their own favourite.
