I'd been playing acoustic guitar in an average way for some time. Then I heard Albert's solo on Luxury Liner in 1976 and it was like watching colour TV for the first time, I ran out and bought a Telecaster, practised Albert licks till my fingers bled and developed a whole new love affair with the instrument. He's has inspired me for 25 years. Incredibly, he just gets better and better.
ACR08807, in reading the posting you put in response to AWOL12602's comment, I'm just wondering if you do anything with your brain apart from sitting on it. Or use your pros for anything but slagging Ppl off. Very valid point AWOL12602 made. As I'm the wife of Ray Smith from Heads Hands and Feet. And my husbands fans are important to him as all the rest of the boys. Next time think befor you write.
Before he developed the quintessentially country style, with Head Hands and Feet he used a mellow almost Marvin tone and constructed a fabulous melodic solo on Song for Suzie
awol, would you please rewrite your post, and this time please try to make it more pretentious. You only managed one hexasyllabic word, and I'm sure you can do better than that if you put your mind to it!
You put Albert Lee in G3, he'd make Joe, Steve Yngwie, Paul & John, look like novices, I like the G3 guys, but this guy just puts them out to pasture.
they play completely different styles. Albert lee almost certainly isnt practicing 8 finger tapping very often (not to say that he couldnt do it just as well as anyone else). He has a bluegrass rhythmic and melodic feel, ive never heard him play in any style similar to the g3 players. you can't compare them meaningfully.
Albert Lee is a great example of a musician that knows there's a lot more to music than just playing the same scales over and over as fast as they can. He's got the chicken pickin' down but he's also a great rocker and is featured prominently on Eric Clapton's live album (JUST ONE NIGHT) version of "Cocaine" that got significant airplay in the late 70's/early 80's.
I saw this guy first around 1969 with a band called "Head , Hands & Feet" in London. He's DYNAMITE!! When he was in Clapton's band in 1977 he oevershadowed Eric to the point of embarrassment.
I saw Albert at a small gig at the Borderline Club in London..and I was standing next to ..yes you've guessed it.. Eric Clapton ! Mind you, best gig I saw there was Rory Gallagher playing a charity gig to a handful of people..he was awesome

Now, thats the way it`s told...
I`m just practising Lee`s Erin, who is on Speechless...
I have a feeling of that the song isn`t after a script or scale....I think he`s improvising...
That`s what so great with Albert Lee...

Albert Lee was the lead guitar player for Chris Farlowe & the Thunderbirds back in the 1960's. Albert was great then, too.
