I was working at the Marquee in Edmonton when parts of this were filmed. I am in it! Let me know at burnham.r@hotmail.com if you know someone who worked there around this time or is in the video!
I sometimes have issues distinguishing young Paul and Gord (Sinclair) apart. Which one of them am I seeing at 3:05, with the jacket - number 69 on their jacket?
This is the Hip's best song, as far as I'm concerned. Everything they've done since this EP is an attempt to match its greatness....they've come close, but have never since produced an album as crisp and tight.
I'm still waiting for a country artist to cover it - it has a definate country feel.
Memories of The Summer of 1987..I wish they would play this one as well as "Small Town Bringdown" which,by the way,was the very first song by The Hip that Q107 played to death.
Something about this song that makes it my favorite song by them. Used to play it loud when I worked in NY, just down the road from the last american exit! Saw them in Syracuse 00 or 01, it was awesome.
Wow. Gord has sure changed and so have I! That's me with the spikey white hair at about the 2:30 mark. The majority of this video was filmed in Edmonton. The radio station was K97 (97.3 krock now) and the live part was filmed at a place called Dancin Shoes(which is long gone) in West Edmonton and the record store was called The Marquee(dontown Edmonton).
One of the Hip's greatest songs. I first heard it on the radio on Q107 when i was waking up. Hadn't heard it before but I immediately felt the passion in Gordie's signing voice and knew it was a great, memorable song. Heartfelt and beautiful.
OK. Makes me think they're from upstate New York somehow. After all, Kingston is only a few miles from New York state.Funny how that band never covered any Canadian rock tunes, not even just for kicks...well,whatever.Not all that popular with them city folk on account of no lead guitar work, I s'pose. I've seen better youngish Cannuk bands, not so engrossed with their own cool.
My name is Ezra and I live about 3 minutes from wolf island, the last American Exit is a couple town blocks from my house!! or i could travel about 45 minutes to the 1,000 islands bridge...either way I'm damn close to the last American exit!!
OMG - how wonderful to see/find this here!!!!! I AM SO HOMESICK right now - thanks! very cool nonetheless!!! I truly am happy to watch it though - takes me back in all the right ways - I! AM! CANADIAN!
Jim morrison/Gordon Downie, I emailed Gordon about how hes actually Jim Morrison and that the jig is up and how he should give me tickets to their next show.
Great video from the band's early days. Thanks for posting!

Bought this e.p. in the bargain bin at Sam's in Kitchener for 4.99 at the end of the 80's. Great e.p. then it all went south.

I TOTALLY agree...I just wish they'd play it at a concert once in a while...never gonna happen.

If you like this one, watch Small Town Bringdown, if you're a true Kingstonian you'll really appreciate it. Filmed at the Manor!
