Oh, so wonderful to see how this is played! I can't read sheet music but have always wanted to play this song, perhaps I will give it a try by watching your hand movements :)
@TheMarkwulf Thank you for your comment, it made me happy so much. I have to play it coming Thursday night in a charity concert for pray for Japan. So I really work hard right now. Yes, you can try it one day.
I see that the arm helps the thumb, to play the notes that are far to reach. Thanks a lot for uploading the video, you play it very smooth and beautiful!
@wrigleyx Thank you for your two comments here. 2 weeks ago I was in Japan for comcerts. I already uploaded one of them, and I will upload another one tomorrow, maybe. If you have time, please check them out ! Thanks a lot !
I probably should have said 'perfect pace for me' as I suppose it comes down to preference. That said, I do also like the Richter version at the quicker pace, just not as much as this one. At this pace it seems more fluid, if you excuse the obvious adjective, but any version of this piece played at this level is a joy to listen to.
I look forward to hearing it and best of luck with the concert. I recently started playing again after a prolonged absence and am seeing the piano starting to take over my life again. I'm sure you know the feeling. I'm sure this video will become invaluable when I'm ready to learn this, thanks for posting it.
Oh just would like to have your opinion, Coz i stopped taking piano lessons for like 2 years now, and the hardest piece i've played so far is spinning song by mendelsshon. I'm 21 years old now. You think i can still play as good as you or be a good pianist for that matter? thanks a lot! You're great! Absolutely love your Deux Arabesque, and this one too. :)
holy crapness, awesome playing, really helps me looking at your hands while you're at it! Your debussy (claire de lune) is also very nicely done, how many years have you been playing?
It is very helpful watching your practice pieces with the close up view of your hands and the keyboard. Would it be possible for you to put the camera so that we can see your hands and the pedals in the same view? Your playing is very beautiful.
Thank you for seeing it and your comment here, too.
Yes, it's a great and wonderful composition.
It's very difficult. It's third time challenge, I practiced it when I was a student, the second time was about 3 years ago, and now. I need a lot of time for practicing to play it.
Thank you again! I love this piece! I love how you play. Nice and slow :) Arpeggios are difficult even with this piece. I can barely play the beginning! haha! Does it hurt when you play the glissando on the black keys? I've never done it before... Thank you!
No, it just hurts my fingertips when I play on my cousin's upright piano. Also when I play the two glissando parts from Ondine, those glissandos are killers, but I really think it's my cousin's piano. The sides of the keys are a bit rough. On every else piano, my fingers feel fine. :)
Oh! I did some research and I think you meant by double glissando is that there are two notes that has to be played in one hand and it plays in glissando. Now I have an idea! I hope to see more of your videos :) Thanks!
Excellent! I prefer it a little speedier at the beginning, but overall, great job! I have a recording of this on my page as well,m it's a beautiful piece of music.
Is this song difficult piece for a beginner?
Oh by the way Your Piano was Breath taking :]

Richter play it great too, but too fast that we can't appreciate harmonies as good as with the way you play it. Don't change anything!!!!

I love the positioning of the camera.
You very talented and do much good work.
Penne(Chihiro) have you considered doing a classical tutorial
of this work for youtube?

Thank you for seeing it and your comment.
The positioning of the camera, because I want to see how my fingers/hands move.
Considering about....sorry, I don't have enough time to do it.

Thank you for your kind comment again.
Mine is a bit changing now, a bit faster than it.
I have to play this piece next month in the concert.
So I have worked hard every day.
After the concert, I will post new one.
If you have a time, please come to see.
Thanks a lot!!!

Perfect pace. In almost every recording of this piece the playing seems rushed but this is spot on. I take my hat off to you.

I agree! The score says "Tres doux" meaning sweetly. This is VERY sweetly! :D

Thank you for seeing it and your comment.
Really? Is it not too slow?
When I was recording it, I think/play carefully about construction this piece and how water move/go...
Actually almost all pianists play fast, so I am a bit worried about it.
Thank you so much!

ちひろさん、すごいですね!フレージングとアーティキュレーションも確かにうまくできました。僕は2年間前にピアノを引き始めて、まだRavelの作曲が引くことができないんですけど、これから頑張ります!
Thanks for the inspiration! I'd like to hear you play some of Erik Satie's nocturnes.

Oh, nocturens by Satie...It is not in my plan right now, but I will think about it.
You are good at Japanese! Thanks for your Japanese message.

It shouldn't. Where does it hurt? If it's hurting, you might wanna take a look at your technique. It shouldn't hurt to play.

Hi, thank you for your comment and I am sorry to reply too late(always...).
The glissando on the black keys does not hurt my fingers, if you feel painful, you must relax on your shoulder, arm, and back.
But I can not do double glissando.
pennehk 2 years ago
What do you mean by a double glissando?
jonprak 2 years ago
Sorry I don't know the word in English so it is not right word maybe.
It (double glissando) is written on Alborada del gracioso from Miroirs by Ravel.
pennehk 2 years ago
Oh! I did some research and I think you meant by double glissando is that there are two notes that has to be played in one hand and it plays in glissando. Now I have an idea! I hope to see more of your videos :) Thanks!

指、細くてきれいですね!やっぱ、ピアニストの指ですね。(私の指は太くて短い・・・・汗)
結構、腕の交差がありますね~
水の戯れの演奏は、至近距離で初めて観ましたが、
やっぱ難しそう・・・・
lisalisa0926 2 years ago
pennehk 2 years ago
そう、腕の交差、多いですね、あとアルペジオや半音階も。難しいです。いやぁ、どの曲も難しくないものなんてないと思いますけど、フランスものって、独特の難しさがあります、やっぱり。

You are right. I also think it is better to tempo up.
When I played it about 2 years ago. the time was just 5;30 around, but now 1 min.more...
Maybe i practice some phrases carefully, it became slow.
Thanks!
