mate why dont you rewatch some gospelchops shit and try counting through some of the fills. do you have any idea how those fills are worked out? even if a lot of the rhythms are the same you should probably learn to appreciate different voicings and insane feel whilst kepping metronomic time. plus man, nick is like 10 years old here, so please excuse him for not pulling something completely new out the bag.

Hell yeah Nick Smith is the truth!! And this is to anyone that is critcizing him or saying he needs to slow down; he is actually not going too fast or adding to many notes AT ALL. If you listen to what the keyboard player is playing, you can see the way Nick fits in his fills. He keeps everything in the vein of the song, which I think is actually just 4/4, but he is good as hell so he is able to understand the music on another level and play inside the rythym like that, and stil come bac onthe 1
