and as for him using such a small grip is because thats allows him to flick his wrist more for that heavy topspin a lot of clay players use smaller sizes

I remember this match, I said to myself at the time how can you be running around with such a sore foot?. Rafa always plays in pain most of the time I suspect. He has a high pain threshold for sure. I love this guy for his on court heroics and taste for battle. I hope he wins the US Open!
Weird question maybe - but I've always wondered, since adult males have hair on their feet do these tennis guys shave them in case they need taping? Because removing that tape if you still have hair on your feet will hurt!
the clay season is ridiculously packed! fuck those assholes in the atp! fuck hard court, if it wasnt for so many hard courts we would see players playing till 35! i say extend the clay season and extend the grass season! why they play dubai, indian wells and miami after the hard court slam of the australian open is beyond me! get rid of indian weels and miami in march and put in before the us open and get rid of cincinatti!
To everyone talking about overplaying your forgetting that rafa did something similar in 07, IW win, QF miami, Win MC then barcelona and even won rome convincingly. Yeh the clay schedule is INSANELY STUPID! Wayy too cramped BUT this year the reason this happened I believe was because he was playing doubles as well, He won the double double in MC, then i believe he also played Doubles in Barcelona, THATS what kills him the most, he doesnt need it, hes good enough on clay.

He suffers from a chronic and degenerative disease on his foot and that also causes problems in his leg. It was diagnosed in 2004. The player and his team dont want to talk about it, but Spanish press published it in 2007. It is called Müller-Weiss disease.
i think its worth for having to go through all the pain to get the number one spot...hes No1 now...its great for him and its only the beginning for him

Only this yr 4 hardcourt tournaments (reaching Semis and Finals in all) and then only 3 wks later Monte, followed by Barcelona (both at Final level) and only days later Rome!! Not wonder! Poor Rafa's feet just couldn't take it (plus the hot weather). It is bad but Rafa will catch up! no problem there!

His shoe size mathces with his grip size. peoplesay that his grip size is 4 1/4. I have no idea why he has it so small!!

I fairly certain Rafa wears shoes one size too small. Can't remember the reasoning, but maybe this contributes to his feet being sore
