Also elton was rejected by gentle giant ( another progressive rock group like king crimson), as you can see he never wanted to be a pop star, he just wanted to play piano
This is the music I really liked by Elton John..his earlier stuff..I was a little kid, but a HUGE fan. He lost me though when 'Best of The Westies' came out. I really couldn't get into any of his stuff from then on..just wasn't the same (for me), no matter how POPular it was.
Elton, Dee Murray and Nigel Olsson were the first piano based power trio; way before Ben Folds Five. Their proficiency on their instruments and their harmonies were spectacular.
Those songs you mentioned were never released as singles and they were never hits. If you find on any "greatest hits" compilation "Take Me To The Pilot" or "Skyline Pigeon" let me know :p
People seem don't understand definition of "GREATEST HITS". I would also like that those songs you mentioned were hits, but that never happened.
A hit single is a recorded track or single that has become very popular. Although it is sometimes used to describe any widely-played or big-selling song,
So madman burndownthemission takemetothepilot are hits, according to that description.
I think your list is ok, is juts that Step into christmas is less important than others. Thats all!!
I agree with you, but I concentrated on official hits that most of them have official videos. If they asked me, almost every Elton's song would be hit ;)
@cocodriloon I just started listening to Elton John yesterday. I was Born in '70. He was rejected by king crimson for Brian Eno, who I listened to in the 80's. He never played with King Crimson either, according to wikipedia; just Fripp. Benny and the Jets was a response to Brian Eno (Here come the warm jets), and Elton blew him away.
Sometimes it is written that both songs are from 1969, sometimes that they are from 1970... it's really not that matter. They are recorded probably in 1969, but album and singles were released in 1970.
ok your wrong! it should be 1970-1973 because your song and border song we in 1970 and get the order right with the 1973 songs!!!!!
